- Myrtle Beach Mall is a classic dead mall at the north end of Myrtle Beach. Beaten out by competition, it continues to limp in a state of limbo, awaiting redevelopment.

You skipped entirely over Player's Choice and the arcade shop they have. It's the heart of that place they have so much passion for what they do and are really nice people. Been going there for years on and off and the collection of arcade machines they have on display is just as awesome as the number of comics and collectibles they have at their shop. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been before The folks there are some good people.
The “players choice” arcade and comic book shop here is awesome! The owner only puts out original vintage arcade and pinball games at 25 cents per play. That 6 player XMen has taken my money! 🕹️👾
Such as nice place but the mall is really not good
Can confirm that store is great.
Player’s Choice and Bass Pro are the only reasons to visit this mall
They rotate the games pretty good they had a moon Patrol in there for a while. Would love to see a Robotron or Defender. They also had a joust and Tron
The only reason to go to Myrtle Beach Mall is Bass Pro Shops or the arcade and shop next door. I call that store Nerd Valhalla.
100%
Bass Pro and the movie theater are the only things keeping that mall afloat
DUDE. I go there all the time! Some nights I just go and walk, or to the arcade or comic store. I’ve lived around there my whole life. So much nostalgia
When Coastal Grand Mall was built it caused the demise of the other malls in the area.
I’ve been to this mall many times since moving down 2 years ago. Never would I expected to see a video of a location that’s literally 20 mins from my house.
The players choice store and arcade is the only reason why that mall hasn’t even collapsed yet
I wish Player’s Choice could be in Coastal Grande so it can get the business it deserves.
Rent would be higher... Although I wonder how some of the stores in there survive.
The guys at Corrado's Pizza definitely know what they're doing. Some of the best pizza in Myrtle Beach hands down. Always good
Just a remnant of what it used to be. Many memories from my childhood my father had a restaurant on restaurant row. He was not always able to get away but when he did I would go to this mall and get chick fil a with him. The only thing that has me returning is Players Choice and the arcade.
i go there for comic books. it's sad. that mall used to be packed when i was young, in the 80s-90s
You are one of the few creators that keep it consistent poping out videos every week ...much appreciated 👍
Thanks and Keep em Rolling!
A dying American institution here they say that 25/30% of the malls in the US will be closed within 5 years. With the current financial situation with the recession and credit card debt at an all time high I would have to agree with this statement and your previous comments of the impending DOOM of these places Doomie. Keep em Rolling!
My husband and I used to take our kids there (now 34, 36 & 44) to Morrison's Cafeteria for breakfast with Santa. This mall, Inlet Square Mall and Waccamaw Pottery all had some good years but one of the biggest mistakes made here is demolishing Myrtle Square Mall. The lot still sits empty along with Waccamaw. And Inlet Square has been struggling for decades. It's a shame how Myrtle Beach has been destroyed.
I really miss Waccamaw Pottery.
One thing that Coastal Grand doesn’t have, Players Choice, I’m a local so I go to that store quite often
i remember when this mall used to be packed and the cheesesteak spot next to the pizza place was one of the best tasting food ive ever had, too bad they closed down years ago
Went here in Jan of 2023 and was a cool place. Loved the arcade and how it was set up. Also apparently this is the only Bass Pro Shop in the state. Crazy how Coastal Grand is not so far from here.
The arcade still best store in it
He went on off season. 2024 this baby is packed this summer already.
Local here. Place was lit during its prime. Coastal Grand Mall put one of the final nails in this place, just like the others. Of course online shopping is probably putting the final nail. If it wasn’t for Bass Pro and Twin Peaks, I feel this place would have definitely lost by fate. It’ll probably eventually be taken over by real estate just like Inlet Square.
Depressing place. I stopped to have lunch here at the minimally open food court a few years ago & it was mostly empty closed stores then, too. And yes, there were small groups of elderly people power-walking around the place. Very weird, considering the nice weather outside & many nearby walkable beaches.
The mall began collapsing approximately four to six years after the Bass Pro Shops opened and the collapse happened due to the mall’s owners failing to pay property taxes during its tenure.
Nice video man!
Grew up going there all the time. I should take the 15 minute drive and go back soon
i don't recall the K-Mart there. that makes sense it was in the space owned by Bass
This mall's been dying for as long as I remember, I thought it was gonna close back in '06 or '07
I had no idea this mall existed. Only ever been to Coastal Grand.
It's awesome there. Live shows. Food court. Outdoor World. Twin Peaks food and the coldest beer on the Strand. Belke is Fabulous.
I periodically stop by on the way home from work when it gets too hot to walk outside. Its a good little walk area 🤷♀️
Meanwhile, down on the south end, they are working on demolishing the Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet, that one was struggling for a while just like Colonial / Myrtle Beach Mall.
The banana pudding there is amazing. Gotta go there when you stop
1st. I went to a mall the first time I went to MB back in 1986 but I don't know if it was this mall. This mall looks as sad as the one in Columbia on Two Notch Rd.
Hey Whitty! What’s up? How are you?
Columbia place is unfortunately much sadder… even though the Richland county offices are supposedly moving in, the mall is so big it’s starting to show really bad signs of deterioration with moonbeam in ownership. Also, the random people sleeping around the property at the mall and the surrounding empty properties are not making the place family friendly.
MB mall at least still has a nice belk, theater, arcade and Bass Pro. Luckily the MB mall property is actually very valuable and will get redeveloped sometime soon. The amount of new construction for the entire strand is a huge factor in that property remaining a nice bit of gold.
It’s being replaced by other malls and the ranger outlets while that mall is outdated and empty why invest there when it’s outdated
NO! The cultural norm in SC is having only one half of an orange harbor freight ratchet strap holding an entire trailer home full of rain soaked furniture on a rotten wobbling tow behind trailer designed to only hold a small lawnmower while flying down route 95 or 26…. Now that’s SC!
😂😂😂
i always get pizza there. except on April 24, i decided to try the new japanese place.
I live in Myrtle beach and I’m surprised I’ve never been to this mall.
I was born here and I thought I knew everything about Myrtle beach but I guess not.
It really looks like a big mall, it’s sad it’s barely anyone in there.
Costal grand mall is the mall I go to and I thought it was the only mall in Myrtle beach.
This is so sad 😔
I only go for Players Choice lol
I don't like this mall that much, but this was still a good video Doomie, as always.😊
lol I’ve lived in this area to long any time I see or hear mb mall I’m like huh Myrtle square was demolished forever ago
This mall is great
bro i used to live in walking distance of this mall
Are you a follower of Baba the spiritual advisor. They own all the property across the street. Lot of weirdos in that area
When you are literally looking at the mall right now.😂
I pass it everyday. Been in Myrtle Beach since 1995.
This footage was taken at least 6 months ago
Damn went here all my life
Coastal grand mall kinda replaced the Myrtle beach mall. It’s so much better Tbf
Myrtle beach is such a great place to walk at
Yes... this place had issues...
Must be a lot of SC residents here in Houston. People stop in the left lane all of the time to veer over to the exit. I would definitely check out the Bass Pro and Players Choice businesses here.
This is just sad .There's nothing there .They boasted of million dollar renovations. Its fast becoming a dead mall
Unfortunately, this mall has been on life support for many, many years. The Tanger Outlet opened across the street in 2002, taking many of the Myrtle Beach Mall tenants. I worked overnight security at this place for a few months last year, I found old floor plans for this place, where it had the likes of American Eagle, Express, Victoria Secret, Chick-fil-A, and Kmart. The Kmart would be demolished sometime in the early 2000s. in favor of constructing a Bass Pro Shops. The second Belk was built sometime around that time, as well, on account of their original store not having any room to expand. The only things keeping this mall alive is the fact that it has strong anchors and junior anchors. Bass Pro, Belk, Books a Million, and the movie theater. Worth noting, a lot of the store are actually rented, being used for storage, or the stores just not being ready to open yet. I, unfortunately, foresee a fate similar to that of Inlet Square Mall, where they demolish the mall, saving the anchors and building some sort of “lifestyle center” around the anchors.
Imagine going to briarcliff in 2024
I actually enjoy visiting here. Always visit Bass Pro, Belk and Books a Million. I have a special needs son who enjoys walking in the peace and quiet and the massage chairs. Granted, that's probably not a great business model for them.
Coastal grand won't die until Myrtle decide to relocate the airport or closed the airport until then Coastal grand won't die
Coastal Grand killed my junkyard a block over. We knew the end was near with Grissom parkway coming through.
The old junkyard is being redeveloped as camper storage now.
So many dying malls here.
I remember when Myrtle Square was still there, before the DMV had an office in it.
A friend still has ten percent stake in the inlet square mall.
I love right down the street and never go here.
MB,SC born and raised. player's choice is the only place up there i even bother with anymore and nothing else. As for bass pro, id rather go to the PSA store and REI
I saw one of the strangest things in this mall back in 2018. I was taking my 10 yr old daughter to the movie theater there to see the Teen Titans movie. When we went in the theater there was a senior citizen couple there BY THEMSELVES to see the movie. No grandkids or nothing with them. Kinda weird to see an ovef 65 couple to watch a kids cartoon movie
There's nothing for these old folks to do it's like Heaven's waiting room here so many old people
Decent looking place, poor occupancy, looks like it should have been bulldozed months ago.
Turn it into assisted living condos. This is a money maker but the R.E. folks just don't see it.
Best store there is Players Choice. Collectibles. Thei Arcade next door is 80s arcade games cost 25 cents
It’s dead most of the time
Burroughs and Chapman needs to purchase this and redesign it to be like Broadway. They have a lot of good properties around the area.
No. No more Burroughs & Chapman ownerships
Doomie 🦷 🫂.
''Limping for years'' and ''continue to limp like this''. I haven't heard of these expressions but I like them. They're so outside of the box. Most malls and some stores outside of malls, like bars and restaurants and even boutiques are like this right now. It's sad to see.🙁🧑🦯
