I'll scope it out! Seeing a lot more films/shows from the Native perspective out these days. And finally recognition to Native actors, artists, producers, etc. Ironically, I just watched your react for The HU's Wolf Totem, and one of the comments explained the song was partially about keeping their land, heritage etc. Fits the movie! Hugs & thanks! #9S

Overall i think it was a good movie but the movies time frames seem a little off. The chickasaw people's, not all of course but the wealthier ones, owned slaves until after the Civil War. In 1865 the war ended and slavery was illegal in the US but it wasn't until 1866 that treaties were made with the tribes to outlaw slavery. Jack Brown was the freed slave that Mountford hired to help him run the ranches in 1868 but it shows him prior to the treaties as working for Montford. There is also the inconsistency of Jack asking Montford what song the Chickasaw were singing. As slaves of the tribes usually spoke those native languages and not English, which is what made it so hard for them after being freed as they couldn't join up with former slaves from other areas due to language/cultural differences but the tribes they were freed from wouldn't accept them either. But if you're not a history nerd like me then the movie is a great watch.
