  • Defining the reversal to the old national anthem as a very important achievement by the Tinubu administration is a very shallow statement to make. The Senate President's comments show his disconnection from the reality of ordinary Nigerians.

Tinubu changed the anthem to tamper with Obasanjo's legacy. It was Obasanjo that decreed into law, the "Arise O' Compatriots anthem" in 1978. It's just the normal old beef between Obasanjo and Tinubu.

Since he wants us to adopt the old anthem. He should allow us go back to the system of Government practiced then.. Tinubu is out of touch with realities. Even he himself dont even know the anthem and those useless NASS members.

At Inauguration says : Subsidy is gone, meaning poverty is here. One year later, says our former national anthem is out, then the colonial anthem is here meaning back to the slavery era. What a leader.😮

Let me see how the new national anthem will make price of garri come down, reduce price of rice, reduce price of beans, reduce price of patrol, reduce price of goods, because he has nothing to celebrate, so he use the opportunity national anthem that is useless to 99 percentage of Nigeria rubbish.

    Dear native land, Nigeria
    I hail thee not
    For in hunger's grip
    My spirit's caught
    Though your soil rich
    Your rivers flow free
    Yet hunger's shadow
    Grinds my empty belly.
    Dear native land, Nigeria
    I hail thee not
    Amidst your plains
    Your verdant fields
    My stomach yields no solace
    For promises of renewed hope
    Leaves me hungry
    And my dreams unfulfilled.
    Oh Nigeria,
    Once so proud and bold
    Now a hunger's tale
    In the shadow of plenty
    I languish still
With empty plates and dreams to fill
    So, for disrobing my dignity
    I hail thee not.

I think many of us are being unnecessarily too fussy about this announcement of the country's reversal to the old anthem.
I don't know the benefits that we have lost because of this announcement.
Some people are just obsessed with using everything, including frivolities to ridicule Tinubu and criticising everything about his government.
We always forget that most of these decisions have long been recommended before Tinubu's Presidency was commenced.
Arise News should try to be fair enough in their gaslighting attacks and judgment.
