Today I was victorious ;w; I lured a 190 female into my base, set everyone on passive, and got through taming her with cooked lamb (which I was lucky enough to find a ovi near my base) and she gained 90 levels from that. She's super perfect and just what I wanted. Now the breeding for mutations begins! (Unfortunately the only male I could find was pretty low leveled, but oh well)
I've been breeding Spinos (my favorite dino in Ark) and started running out of space, and going thru food too fast. So I take out my low level ones that I won't breed, and put them on wander / Aggressive outside of my base walls. Then when I need food for filling the feed bins, I just go empty out their inventory from all the random dinos they killed. Saves me tons of time gathering meat, and since they don't seem to roam too far, I haven't lost one yet.
Thats what ive been doing with the thylas! works great! and you get arrows and stuff
Question Once i´ve got the color that i want the lvl would be very bad and with that the dino would be useless. Do i have to breed the color then with a perfect tamed dino over and over to get the combination of both? BTW I could really bite my own ass cause i just found out about this mutation thing. And 2 days ago i found a black one with a white belly and a proper bright red stripe on his back he looked very nice but his lvl was his death.

I would call her Victory as you final achieved your mutation goal.
You treat your thylas well, ditching them in the middle of nowhere and naming them fodder...

Name the final baby "Liberty" or "Eternity"
So much missinformation - each Dino has up to 6 Body regions for color - some have less - you cant get only the accent colors while leaving out the body region color - so you cant get the light blue stripes without the blue main body on a thyla. Its very easy to check what color regions a Creature has, just look at the wiki.
But a title like "how to control X" sounds so much better and will bring more views.

I just want to know if color is more likely inherited from either gender, or if it makes no difference.

no it wasn't attacking there were on follow and you moved so it ran of.they only started attacking when you whistled neutral
You won't get the blue stripes on the white, only 3 zones on the thyla

I have a dumb question. Will inbreeding cause a negative effect in stats or can you breed babies that came from the same parents / grandparents without a hit to the final stats?
+August L inbreeding is kind of required to make good dinos :)

Your content has inspired me to start breeding in earnest for looks and not just for making boss fight monsters and having imprint bonuses on my primary mounts. I have a pair of thylas out of the same parents that I want to breed for a mutation. My tribe mate's male, Thylo Ren came out with a black / gunmetal coloring from the dad that I've not seen before or again. Mom is red and dad is gray. I've managed to get a dad look-a-like female after many reds and some multiples and even a bright red belly mutation out of mom. Now that I know that their offspring's stats won't suffer, I'll be making some babies! Thank you again!

Matrineal and Patrineal mutations arent as cut and dry as it look. if you breed a male that has 8 matrineal and 3 patrineal with a female that has 0 matrineal and 0 patrineal then the baby will have 0 matrineal and 11 patrineal mutations in its ancestor list however those numbers wont be a correct representation of how many the baby has for 2 reasons. (1) its recording how many the parent had not how many the baby has so it could develop its own mutations. the only way to know is to stat check it againt the parents. (2) mutations are recorded regardless if they are actually earned so it could say 20/20 and only have 1 mutation. Again the only way to know is to actually stat check the baby and parents.

You can't control how or where the mutations transfer, so this is literally a very misinformed video. You're just breeding to see if you get the good matchup you want, not controlling anything.

You should reserve using the word 'mutation' for actual mutations. You use it a lot but mostly incorrectly in Ark terms. Normal I nherited color variations are not mutations. Also if one parent has 9 mutations and the other has 3 the child will show 12. It's a screwy system WC put in place to prevent endless mutations as you don't get further genuine mutations if both parents are 20/20 or higher. Check out the below link on breeding and mutations.

The old and red thyla's are the most common color out there. That you never saw the gold one before is a bit hard to swallow :P The ones really hard to find are the gray and white ones.
I find grey ones all the time too, I do have to say since this video I have seen the golden ones more often though.
Funny, me and my sister NEVER find red ones. Common ones for use are the sunny looking gold ones and those silver ones.XD
