Hawk's nightmare sequence STILL remains one of my most stand-out memories from my childhood, and I honestly MISS when family movies had the balls to sneak in shockers like that...
Alonso Hawk was a recurring villain through different 70s Disney movies so yeah it was the same character. This would also be the last movie George Bruns scored for Disney before retirement.
The nightmare segment always freaked me out as a kid. When I found out about the surgery part, I’m glad they left that out. That would’ve just been scarring for children.
i always saw the beetle army as other beetles helping out their hero. at the time, herbie would have been the most famous beetle because of his racing, so why wouldn't all other beetles idolize him and want to help when he's in trouble?
Notice Herbie driving up the wires of the bridge is being portrayed by a 1965 VW Beetle because you can't only tell by the larger windows, but also by the engine hood cover having more vents than on the 63.
Gave this a watch out of late-night curiosity in Disney+. Definitely a product of different times. Feels like it’s a comedy hold-over from the 60’s. As for your comment on Herbie seeming like a co-star in his own film, some could say the same for Bay’s “Transformers” films.
Everything about sentient machines could be canon. Imagine if Stephen King’s ‘Trucks’ was canon... maybe some machines were brought to life... and others were brought to life and are friendly. Who knows. Screw the Cars franchise, before you ask! I’m not considering that... THING... canon. I will make an exception for Toy Story though. Anything to do with sentient cars nowadays could be canon. Christine and Maximum Overdrive could take place in another state.

HRA is one of our personal favorites because it's full of gags from the golden era of film.
Keenan Wynn was also the voice of Winter Warlock in "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town".

I was surprised that this is the same Alonzo Hawk in “The Absent-Minded Professor”
Herbie rides again is a really good sequel to the love bug
Never knew Herbie was a Street Beast, 33 years before Hot Wheels making that line
I'm surprised that you didn't notice the changes on Herbie. His blue stripe was darker and he had a foglight on his hood.
I can’t WAIT until you get to Fully Loaded! That one was my whole childhood!

That's a good theory... how come I didn't think of it had these movies since I was 3... and watched them A LOT

All I remember from this movie was driving up the Golden Gate Bridge
And the army of beetles
And the soap scene

That pretzel vendor would probably be in therapy alongside the cabbage merchant from Avatar TLA.
This is my favorite of the Herbie movies
This is a really good sequel.
It is and I enjoy it

Take another look. One of those VWs was clearly Bumblebee. They know better than to mess with an Autobot warrior.
Wait but bumblebee didn't show up till the 80's. Eh whatever. Why ruin it?

@@TheOGLegoGuy Yeah, that's really stupid. Why'd they do that..... Like for every sequel?🙂
In some ways, Hawk reminds me of Joey Drew from Bendy and the Ink Machine.
This was the best in the Herbie series...with more humor & gags
Nice cutaway gag right before you finish Trump's name. LOL :)
I hope he would like herbie goes to Monte carlo
Yeah that gag is so funny 😅🤣😅
I've haven't seen these Herbie movies in quite a while

The more I think about it; the self-driving cars they make these days could actually rationalize why nobody questions Herbie.
11:48 helzinky??!!

23:31 Herbie with pupils is just cursed
27:00 - 27:04 Runaway Runaway Runaway.
23:31 How did you know that there was a deleted scene? Did you watch the deleted scene or did you just search it on the website?
The still image of the two doctor beetles still made it to the Viewmaster reel that was released.
