- I made it back to Sewell Motor Coach in Harrodsburg, Kentucky again to help Doug Sewell and his crew catch up with some inspections and work due to a very busy summer. This is a 1997 Vantare Featherlite on a Prevost XL bus chassis that has been well maintained and recently re-modeled to a more unique floorplan that suited the needs of the former owner. But it was also done to a high degree of quality that did not overly personalize it or damage the original charm of the highest luxury available at the time. I am really seeing the value in these older units and suspect they will becoming more and more popular as new highend motorhomes and coaches keep increasing prices without increasing quality and reliability. I was happy to do the inspection and really did not find much wrong. I was also pleased to be able to share the unit with you.

What an excellent, exceptional coach! The price for what you get is just blowing my mind. I'd drop another 50 to 75k into it, for an updated lithium-solar package, change out the bunks for an office space, put a big screen televator in the bedroom where you suggest, have the belts and all rubber refreshed, have the suspension bushings and such re-done/updated, and perhaps re-coat the roof. Then tour the continent for the next 5 years...what a dream! 😊

The previous owner races at the same track i do. They are not afraid of dropping some $$$$. Very meticulous people, they keep everything very neat and tidy.

Holy moly, someone spent some serious cheddar on that renovation. Good on them for saving the old parts so the next owner can use them if they choose to. That's a heck of a lot of machine for the money, and it'll be running down the road another 30 years easy if the next owner takes care of it. I found myself craning my neck trying to get a few glimpses of that Navigator next door. The '06 was the last year before they went to the taller ceilings in '07 but the outdoor proportions of the '06 has always been appealing to me.

I have a 1995 H3-40 Prevost with Over The Road air conditioning. The converter was FeatherLite but the designer was Vantare.
Have to check if that is a 96 or 97 chassis. 97 first year for IFS. If it does have IFS you want to make sure the control arms have the bushing (larger) update Prevost did finally in 99 or 2000 as the originals didn't stand up very well.
That cable is for a Gen 2 Starlink Antenna, It likely led to the router side which provided power and data over that cable to the antenna on the roof.

Very nice. I personally am not a fan of all the mirrored surfaces especially the ceilings. Don't know what it is but I just find it to be too much for me.
I know, I know, it is to give the illusion of more space just not for me.
But I do like lots of other things about this bus, mind you I would have to pull the bunks out and put the washer back in to make it work for me.
And the stripper window from the shower to the bedroom, weird!

Never realized they had campgrounds for snobs... That drive system for the fan and air conditioning compressor is the craziest thing I've seen. Makes no sense to have that hinged system with small air bags to tension the belts. If you blow a bag or air line, what prevents it from throwing those belts when all the slack hits and the engine is at operating rpm? I worked on school buses for 20+ years and any time a belt came loose on a fan drive all sorts of issues happened almost instantly. Really weird setup.
I would like you to show the shore connection bay. Water, sewer, power, etc on every coach.

That’s a decent price, will the price increase when you take it for a test drive and the mileage goes up 😅
One thing I always forget to say is that unlike newer RVs, these have reached pretty much the floor of value so in 4 years it will likely still go for $155k as long as it was cared for.

Starlink cable
That is a great coach if you are doing a lot of traveling but if you stay for long periods in the same place not having slideouts would make this coach aggravating and cramped

Just short of lithium. You could plug in a liberty style lithium package with a full rack of solar with a giant quad awning package and be set up.
But there is no room for solar on that crowded roof. 🤣🤣 Sarcasm.

What should an owner expect in annual maintenance costs for these Prevost conversions? Annual maintenance for the engine, transmission, etc. and also the coach?
As a fleet vehicle these buses have fairly reasonably priced and accessible parts, but normal maintenance is also reasonable as they are designed as a working fleet vehicle so cost is very similar to an average diesel RV. It's the complicated interior converter features that really are expensive, especially the slides so this would be much cheaper than most luxury RVs and entry level RVs.
James, I appreciate the quick response. What I’m looking for is what the actual range of cost I should expect. Is reasonable $1k-$2k? Separately, what is the expected MPG for the Series 60? Thank you, as a long-time viewer I greatly appreciate your videos and authentic RV service expertise.

The PTO belts can be loose for sure after sitting they are tightened by an air bag but likely could use some new ones.
