Sanjay Subrahmanyan garu's classical music is something unique and I felt to hook on to it all the time. One more major change is happening is that film songs become very pale and actually noise in front of these beautiful divine classical music

Thyagaraja swami in this requests Lord Rama to keep him close by appointing him as his royal guard! Hamsanadam is an exclusive audava ragam, with 5 notes and does not contain gandharam and dhaivatam, as it is sung in current days and thus it is a janya of 60th Melakarta Neetimati. Apart from this one- ' Bantureethi Koluvu' by Tyagaraja, 'kalyana rama' by Oottukkadu Venkata kavi, other popular krities in the ragam are- 'kalyana rama' by Oottukkadu Venkata kavi, 'Niye Paramukham' by Papanasam Sivan, 'Kripanidhe' by Muthiah Bhagavatar n 'Bharama Ee Baluni' by GNB, ..'I should say here that I did listen to the rendition of O S Thyagarajan ( OST)- "Kalyaana Raama...Raghu Ramaa" with a wonderful rendition a very vibrant ragaalapana that probed to the depth of the ragam n very precisely maintained the enchanting feel of the ragam throughout the rendition.
In olden days shatsruti dhaivatam(D3) was there in the scale of Hamsanadam....compared to current usage (that is,shadava scale with 6 notes in ascending and descending scale), with a vakra prayoga (zig-zag) descending scale! Here, Sanjay presented a melodious recital; of course the video is without ragaalapana; but with a beautiful niraval @ raama naama mane vara khadga mivi n swarom and maintained a high tempo throughout as entailed by the Keerthanam with a balanced tone. without raising voice while the singing hauled forward!!! Loved his instant brigas that filled gaps in words while singing Charanam. Like OST's rendition, Kalapramana of Sanjay's recital maintaining the tempo is superb!.

best version of this is the recorded one by Ramnad Krishnan made in USA on Nonesuch label at Wesleyn, which i hear he learned from Brindamma...like how Sanjay dresses like old school guys with buttoned up white shirt, no north indian Kurta or flashy fake silk...random, but i still like it. Indian men look best in white, and oddly have rather poor sense of aesthetics when it comes to modern colors in western clothing.

Such a great singing, but I feel the lyrics are mistaken. Most of the singers from Tamil Nadu sing Koluvu as kolu and viyavayya ramaa separately. Koluvu is a single word.
He is pronouncing is properly .. Just check the Sri Balamurali version.. here he is not calling "Bantu reethi Koluvu iyyavayya".. he is calling it as "Bantu reethi Koluviyyavayya.." .. if you observe it closely there is a sandhi between Koluvu +iyyi.. it has became as "Koluviyyavayya.. " means Savaryandeerga sandhi sir.. check it again.. he is not breaking between.. koluviyyavayya...

Absolutely you are right, other than Balamurali garu , only K j yesudas garu will sing as koluvu as a single word , rest of them repeat the same mistake as kolu - vu

Meaning: In this song Sri Thyagaraja pleads with Rama to give him the post of a guard for Raama; symbolically meaning that he always wants to be in Sri rama's sannidhi (in his presence).
He says in the anupallavi, the guard's post should be such that he is empowered to destroy all the demons which are arishadvargas (kama-love, krodha, lobha, moha, mada, matsarya) and since the guard is empowered to do so, he needs such a guard's post.
In the caraNam, he says he should be blessed with the emblem of Ramabhakti, given a sword called Raama Naama (the name of Raama) to perform his guard's job.
