Nice work! I find that matching filler with project wood is easier before applying. Mix a little stain into filler at a time until satisfied. Great work! Here I go to fix JBL’s!
Could you not pull the corner together with some big parallel clamps ? The only way for that gap to appear was if the side and bottom panels pulled apart.
The woods caused it to swell and particle board I haven't had luck with clamping, but something like birch or ply it can be done. Filler or epoxy etc. would be about the only way to go in this case.
@@JukeboxAlley Particle board is ugly stuff. Can you imagine in the future when trying to repair all these speakers being built with strange materials like Wilson or Magico.
@@dominicdiclemente8877 Particle board, inc MDF, absorbs water faster than solid wood, and it will swell or warp if it gets wet. The only way to repair is to re-glue the swollen fibres and clamp till dry, OR as in this case, just fill the small gap made.
My Snell speaker cabinets are rough at bottom. You didn't show how to color match and I'm clueless. And I have spongy type grills and can I either buy the size or make one to fit ? 2023, so ques is old. UGH
If you get a bit of exposed MDF thats gone 'furry', some thin superglue will harden it up - it can then be sanded or filled.
This method also works on standard particle board, but I recommend using an epoxy if its a large area.

Great tip! Thanks so much, I will certainly try it on the next set.
I have a set of bookies with gaps in the miters. Luckily they were small enough to fit inside a clamp, that and some wood glue did the trick!

Awesome, what a change.
