Saw them live at the Bottom of the Hill in the early 90's and bought the album at the merch table "Destroy All Human Life". Crazy. It's never left my mind. Brilliant. Hurricane disrupted, recording studio on hold, so I'm working up a minimal cover of Hairy Wine on acoustic guitar and over-the-top sarcastic vox. I think BR would approve. Ben's lyrics are brutal and eerily disturbing. I know it's intentional, but still jarring. I like the disjointed, stump leg rhythms and out-of-tune sounding nonsense. I'm looking forward to any new releases. Please keep them coming. You've still got it.
Genius verse...pointing out and listing hypothetical flaws in multiple people....only to end it by saying how perfect he is in comparison, pointing out this irony that exists in all of us on a daily basis
The part about his back being straigh as a white line , and lack of poo/(or pooped golden) apples makes me think he's talking about snorting some sorta opioid. Illusions of grandeur can come frm that. Any way, let's talk about the lyricism behind poop
Pretentious is such a subjective definition. The Fall also received this adjective many times through their existence. I saw Country Teasers supporting the Oblivians and they were fantastic, original and funny. I don`t think they took too seriously themselves either.
I went to the forum last night just to see the teasers. Some people here have taken the trouble to look check youtube for them. Check out their albums before you label them as shoreditch types - that is very, very far off the mark.
I was there last night as well. Mudhoney were brilliant again!! But this lot - well I've seen a lot of what some pepole would call wierd but these left me confused!!! I know they've been going longer but they kind of seemed like a crap version of the White Stripes.
I have to say I saw this lot supporting Mudhoney at the Forum. I mean come on The Fall did this stuff years ago and soooooooo much better. Buy the Peel Sessions and see what I mean. I can't beleive this band supported Mudoney, wathcing them was just hilarious. How pretentious! Oh they must be "artists"!
This band is one of the coolest rabbit holes I ever went down !!!
Seriously one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
Ever.
Yep
It took 11 years for a reply

Great, great, great band. Great, great song. Super style... Stupendous mixture of psichedelia and country folk sounds. Keep on playing!!!

Enjoying this music is like falling in love with hate. I love it so much I can't stand anything else.
I think this is my favourite music video on TH-cam, every time I press play on it I go somewhere else, somewhere better. 5/5
