Prokofiev 'Sleigh Ride' ('Troika') - André Previn conducts

As I upload this, the temperature is in the heatwave area, so this little piece of music should help to cool things down! ... The 'Troika' movement from Prokofiev's "Lieutenant Kije" Suite has long had Christmas or winter associations, suggesting as it does a sleigh being drawn through the snow by three harnessed horses. The Suite derives from the soundtrack of the 1934 Soviet movie of the same name. Here is the 'Troika', entitled "Sleigh Ride," extracted from a complete performance of the Suite given by the London Symphony Orchestra under its then conductor André Previn in Croydon's Fairfield Hall in 1977. It comes from a DVD of Russian music issued by ICA Classics.
