Emirates has had the same 2 planes in thier fleet since the retirements of the A340,A330 and later the 747. @ no refurbished 77Ws are 2-3-2. They are all 1-2-1 and all have premium economy. Think there are nine or ten now and they’re refurbishing about two a month currently, alongside about one 388 a month.
I wonder how the RR engine will perform for Emirates. I do recall Tim Clark alluding to the difference between GE and RR in maintenance requirements, especially as its hub cannot escape the desert climate and sandy weather. I was under the impression GE engines are performing better for their A380s.

@@eamonahern7495as said above, it’s a different type rating. However, the commonality is high and therefore the training time is comparatively low if you already have a A380 rating. Also some airlines (i.e. Etihad) rate their pilots for both jets and then shuffling around is possible
I heard that the first batch of 350s were erroneously ordered without a crew rest fitted, so they had to change Adelaide to Edinburgh as the launch destination as it would have been too far without proper rest facilities.

In a recent interview the CEO of Emirates said that it’s time for Emirates to come back to Porto but they were waiting on planes for that. I guess Porto still needs to wait 🫠
Emirates has ordered the 787, but does not know when they will be delivered. As for whether the 787 is better than the A350 or not: each aircraft performs well within its own particular segment of the market, with some overlap of capabilities; but customers will have to wait longer for 787's whilst Boeing resolves its ongoing production and quality control problems; and, as a passenger, I prefer the A350.

Great news for Airbus and for Emirates for buying a plane that can actually be delivered on time with not fuss. At some point, we will have to wonder about Boeing's competence. How many months has it been since the 777X engine strut failure? It's as if Boeing is clueless to solve any of its problems these days.

Long ago announced as 1-2-1. And the 2-3-2 is also on its way out with the ongoing refurb of existing aircraft to 1-2-1.

Lower cabin altitude is all I care about so this is a win

It's an entirely different type rating. They won't just be shuffling pilots around in the way that airlines are able to do with the A320 family.
