On this episode of LivinRvision, we start off the season with high winds and talk briefly about what we like about the van in storms vs our other RVs we have had.
Then we attend the 2024 Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa where we spend some time with friends and take a few tours through some RVs, attend the Grech RV Owners Appreciation Dinner, have a meet & greet and then start our travels out West!
First we stop to say hello to some friends we haven’t see for over two years then travel about 3 hours every night until we make it to Houston, Texas. Our first stop takes us to the Henderson State Park in Destin, Florida.
We share many valuable tips during this trip and even experience some bad weather and just miss being part of a bad accident on I-10.

Have you considered joining the nationwide Planet Fitness gym plan for your showers? Seems like it might be cheaper than truck shop showers?

Glad you enjoy! 🧡😊🤓 We did join Planet Fitness and have only used it once. Reason being is because truck stops are typically handy for us when traveling and easy in and out to make it quicker. A Planet Fitness isn’t usually close to the interstate like a truck stop. We were not impressed with the first Planet Fitness we went to but we hope to try again sometime. Just not as convenient. The reason we used the truck stop in this video again was because it was close to the RV Show in Tampa. We can always shower and get dressed in one private room. Planet Fitness did not offer that where we went our first time.
Makes sense, thanks. Are you able to schedule the exact time when your video is actually released? I think an earlier time on Saturday morning would improve your viewership numbers .
We’ve had it at the exact same time for the last five years plus. Not everyone is in the same time zone. Most of our viewers can’t watch on Saturdays and end up watching Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. You basically watch whenever you want after it is released.
It would be nice to be in shorts right now. 50's is a heat wave for us. Awesome video and drone footage.

we were in the Florida panhandle the first week of December. Stayed near Destin and visited Henderson Beach State Park, as that is my maiden name. Great place to visit. Safe travels!
When you stay at Cracker Barrel do you have to call them beforehand or can you just show up?
Usually call but if you find a Cracker Barrel along the way and other RVs are there in the evening, then it is likely ok. 99% of Cracker Barrel’s allow it.
In reference to your last week’s video about the best place for pies at Sherman’s in Palm Springs, we did go there and my wife absolutely loved the coconut cream pie. Big portions on the food too.

Enjoy it. Being that you are in such a small Rv, just in case you didn't know, you can buy Earth Breeze Laundry sheets and they take up no space compared to a jug. We use them in our MH and they work great. Safe travels.
We’ve heard about them and seen some in the store but haven’t seen the “Free and Clear” option, which is what we prefer. Have you?

Love your videos. We live in Texas, originally from Iowa. Getting ready for a two month road trip to American Southwest. Any suggestions? We are in a class b Roadtrek and want to boondock too.
Hello fellow Iowegians! 😊🤓 Too much to list here. We have a few videos out there in specific areas of the Southwest. All depends on where all you plan to travel. So much we have yet to see as well. The National Parks are the MUST though.
We just added Rv Life and are putting in our itinerary now. Thanks to your video. Maybe we will see you out in the road. I have been contemplating having a you tube channel due to your inspiring videos.

We have not on the Strada because we never have the models very long and we never drink the water. We’ve never gotten sick, so knock on wood. Lol Funny you ask though, because. I just emptied the fresh water tank last night because we got a “batch” of nasty water from an rv park recently. Filled a few more gallons back after empty and emptied again to get residue off the bottom of the tank and then filled the tank with clean fresh water at our current rv park.

I enjoyed this video because it showed the nuts & bolts of van life on the road. What brand, style, and features did you choose for your headphones? I have wireless noise-cancelling BEATS headphones, and my hubby has Sony with a wire. There are plus and minus issues with both of them.
Sony headphones. I just researched at the time to find the most comfortable with good sound quality for editing. There may be better out there now. Sounds like you’ve done your research too. 👍🏻😊🤓

Aw! Ya went right by us! We grew up in Orange, Texas the town where you cross from Louisiana into Texas on I-10. We now live about 10 miles south of the interstate but in the same area. Hate that you had to travel in that bad weather. We’ve had some big thunderstorms lately. Be safe!!💜
Question about Trip Wizard. It says to use trip Wizard to find potable water and dump stations and when I click on them nothing ever comes up. Thought you or someone might know. Guessing I am doing something wrong.
We don’t see dump stations on Trip Wizard (computer based website) but when you go to use your RV Life app on your phone, you can click on “maps” down below and it shows fuel stations and rv parks that show if they have dump stations. We never use that app for dump station planning and here is why.
You never know where you will be needing to dump tanks so we use apps like our AllStays to search which we usually stop at truck stops along our travels. They are the easiest in and out to dump tanks. In the notes on each place will say if it has a dump station. If in question, it gives their phone number which we call ahead sometimes to make sure. We use our Open Roads app to search for our TSD Diesel discounts if stopping for fuel and using their dump station. We call right from that app to ask if they have a dump station. To us, we found it a waste of time to plan for dump stations in advance. There are plenty of truck stops that have them and if you happen to be on a highway somewhere that there are no truck stops, then you resort to either calling an rv park and asking if it’s ok to use their dump station. They usually charge a fee. You can also look at apps like “RV Dumps” or “iOverlander” to search for places. There’s a lot of apps out there besides these, but we never have to utilize anything other than AllStays usually. There is always somewhere along the way to dump. Sometimes rest areas will have a dump station too.

Luckily my manager has approved my same working schedule no mater what time zone I’ve been in, so far. 🤓

We love Henderson Beach State Park! Too bad the weather didn't cooperate. Did you walk down to the beach? We had to leave there when they shut down due to Hurricane Nate. Since Destin is an island, the State Parks are required to close for Tropical Storms and Hurricanes.
We didn’t have time. We got there at night and had to check out the next morning where we went over to work in the parking lot of the laundromat and Walmart, then continued travel by at night.
In our video the last time we were there at Henderson State Park, we did go to the beach.

We had one of those about 5 years ago when we first started the full time life. We had shared it back then. In a van, there isn’t much to forget. Water hose, power cord and anything on the countertop and we’re ret-ta-go! 😁🤓

Is your tea pot a regular tea pot, or is it an induction tea pot? What kind of pots and pans will the induction stove use? Where to buy from?
It’s an electric kettle. We’ve shown ourselves using it in various videos.
You can buy pots and pans about anywhere for an induction cooktop, you just have to make sure they safe they are made induction compatible. Thyme & Table are the brand we bought at Walmart.

5 plus years and we have always felt safe. We choose where we stay. If we don’t feel comfortable, we move on to another place. We always try to stay where there are other people camping.

Why don’t you guys don’t haul your bikes anymore ?
We’ve been asked this quite a bit. We had a video over a year ago that explained. Since we work all week and are filming during the weekend and usually don’t film much of anything that involves ebikes, we decided it’s better to just drop them off at our storage unit instead of always worrying about them hanging off the back. We LOVE to ride them, we just found that we never got time to. Someday we will again which is why we kept them.
I do think with the cover on the bikes affect fuel mileage causes drag .
We actually didn’t notice.
Around 20.03 you had some red funnel looking things that you used when you were making coffee. I did not see them in your amazon store. Do you have a link to these items?

What size gray tank do you have? How many days boondocking will fill it?
As discussed in a previous older video, here are our tank sizes: 26 gal fresh
27 gal gray
13 gal black
Example: Our Airstream had a 45 gal black tank, but the 13 gal in the van lasts longer simply because the Airstream toilet wasted a lot of water when we flushed it, due to the type of toilet it had.
“We” can boondock in the van for an average of 3-4 days before emptying. That of course is being very conservative. It will differ dramatically depending on how conservative you are.

That is so odd about the Destin weather. We have been going for 30 years and have not had a bad weather stretch a single time.
It’s because of the timing that we go there. Unfortunately Destin has its bad weather just like anywhere else. It’s not odd at all. The issue for us is, each time we have went to Destin was simply a stop along our way somewhere else, and not a planned trip to enjoy Destin. It’s a very fragile time of the year where in January just about anywhere. 😊🤓
Last week in May first week in June is the best time for Destin fl. Take it from someone with a lot of experience!!
We weren’t in Destin to visit, it was just a stop along our way to our destination. We just found it funny that a couple times that we have stopped there for an overnight, that the weather has been below normal for the area.
Love your videos. Look forward to them every week. But I have a question, if you're traveling full-time, why do you have to sometimes have to rush from one place to another. I know you have some commitments at places, but other times, if you really like a place you're staying, why not just stay there for a week or two? Love all the places you go! It is always because of the destinations and commitments that we have planned. We usually have to start a journey to a commitment that is a long drive in advance and stop along the way, otherwise we would be pushing ourselves to get there even quicker if we delay longer. Keep in mind, sometimes when we are caught up with videos, we will take a weekend off to enjoy ourselves without a camera. That’s the timeframe that y’all never see. We realize on video it appears like we show our every day, every weekend and every move, but that’s not the case of course. We’d never get any work done if we did. Lol

Yes it does. I only use it sometimes.
I just can’t get into that color for the van, 😩 I liked the white one a lot more and I don’t even care for white vehicles lol. That Cracker Barrel in Tallahassee looked like a pretty small parking lot. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that small before. The car accident looked pretty bad, I hope everyone was okay! We prefer the white also, but this color has started to grow on us. That Cracker Barrel has multiple lots. It’s definitely a lot different than others we’ve seen too. We still owe you a picture with those tshirts! We haven’t forgotten. 🧡😊🤓
