I don’t think many ppl want to move to the US any more whereas years ago it was the place to aspire to….😟

Not many from developed countries want it because they know they already have better and the only reason they would have to move would be work opportunities, at a time where so much is online and remote workers are so easy to get. Developed countries, are worse in many areas. There’s no pay off anymore for anyone who lives a half decent life. 🤷‍♀️

Fish and chips is until now my fav brit dish and also crave it so much, English breakfast and beautiful country side! An important thing to consider with children in schools along the lines of school shootings is the effect of active shooter drills. One angle to think about it is how unlikely any given school is to have a shooting, but the real harm that no-one talks about is that EVERY school child in the US has to do active shooter drills regularly. They many never be involved in a shooting, but it is terrifying to regularly practice hiding and being very quiet so the shooter won't know you're there.

Myself and my husband did the exact same thing for the same reasons. We had our daughter in 2020 in California and had been living there 5years at the time, but wanting to be near family was the no 1, so we moved when our daughter was 4m old, shes almost 4 now and it's the best decision we've ever made, she's surrounded by all her crazy cousins and I wouldn't have it any other way. Loads love from Cork Ireland!! Xx

We love Scotland but back to UK in November for a Cornwall trip and then to Belgium. It is so expensive to live here and even if we downsized out taxes would be tripled. and I will be sending our kiddos to private schools even though it’s not a for sure thing as far as gun violence is concerned. Best of luck. And please vote abroad because we don’t want the orange man back in office.

I hear you on your reasons, although I was not questioning your reasons for moving as some have. I think too that times are difficult here in the U.S. I no longer have a young one, but do feel sad, anxious, angry about the gun control issue, when preventable tragedies happen. Hear you regarding the possibility of the bad outcome of the November election. A repeat of Trumpy worries me as well. Appreciate where you live as we were there when my husband was getting treatment through Dana Farber for Non-Hotchkins Lymphoma (he passed away at 43 yrs young when our son was 4 yrs old). 2016- 2020 was a nightmare! I think I said to my son on the daily that we have to leave this country or be killed by this administration(then Covid happened and thank God we had an amazing Governor in NYS, because we were left to die by the Trumpy administration). Sorry, so long and too much info, it's ptsd, isn't it! I validate everything you talked about. Wish you all the best in the move and look forward to hearing from you from your home country. I’m from Belgium and I would do the same thing if I was in your position. From what I’ve seen I wouldn’t want my future kids in the American school system. It’s shocking that one of the worlds richest countries has such an underfunded education system. They appear more worried about an imaginary group of people turning their kids gay at school than the school shooting problem they have going on. I’m really worried for like minded Americans. The fact that they have to choose between 2 fossils goes beyond me.

    @stephaniegrace9581 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

i think simply put - you just want to go home. The cultural difference are just not worth whatever benefits may exist to you. I don’t really see a need to explain tbh.
I’m American (New Orleans) and things that feel shocking and scary to foreigners really just don’t feel huge to me - for a variety of reasons - mainly being the chances - plus the protective measures - my particular location and it’s 0.2% crime rate….etc etc.
But from a foreigners perspective i can TOTALLY understand the raging anxiety esp while pregnant and post partum….i’ll never forget Sandy Hook and my own son being a 1st grader and i was pregnant and totally lost my shit. I refused to send him back to school until they put in protective measures - which because this happened right before christmas the school - all the schools - put in security systems and protective measures throughout the schools over the holidays.
So i get it….i guess when you are born and raised here and have for generations - and have never known a single person shot or held up by a gun or violently assaulted or killed etc you just don’t feel like there is this constant threat the way i think someone who has only been here a short time would feel.

That’s why I homeschool also! My children have never set foot in a classroom and it’s because of school shootings. My youngest was about to enter kindergarten when the Connecticut shootings occurred. We immediately decided this was best for our family. Good wishes to you and your family Caroline!! Can’t wait for your UK life videos!

I get that. But I wouldn’t want to homeschool my children. I want them to experience school. I loved school so much when I was younger and I don’t want my kids to miss out on that. So I’m thankful to live in England for that reason.

Sorry about that, but you’re not the only one that will be moving, will be moving too if Dump becomes President. Will be moving to Spain, Torrevieja, because we speak Spanish, even though we are not Hispanic or Latinos, we just love their culture and way of life. There you can be free, and be who you are, if you’re gay, trans, etc. Read what you want, and there aren’t Dump Karen’s there.
Traveled there a couple of times, and we fell in love with this small town. You probably know about it. Have traveled a lot to England also. It will be so easy to travel to other European countries, and cheaper. Can’t wait, and good luck 🍀😊🤗

I think you’ve made a sensible choice. An influencer I follow called Elle swift has just moved with her small children to Texas and I think she’s deleting comments about gun issues and lack of bodily autonomy (she said she wants to have another baby in the US) because i guess she’s burying her head in the sand about it or doesn’t think it’ll affect her. Super scary

The guns? Wow. It’s remarkable how differently people think about things. Yeah, the states are going to hell in a hand basket but I want to go deeper into the rural world and can’t imagine not having the ability to own/get guns. If I can have a gun I can protect myself. If I can’t get one legally then I can’t protect myself against someone who doesn’t care about laws and I am forced to wait for law enforce to help me. It’s really about who do you want to be in charge of your life? The government is the stable force or you are the stable force. Fascinating.

As someone from uk I obviously don't have the same gun culture but isnt it about common sense and not cultue? how does everyone carrying a gun make it safer? Doesn't it just mean there is more math probability that a gun will be used? And how does anyone know who the bad person with gun is , if everyone around them has a gun? Also how does anyone know if every single parent who carries a gun, is 100% sane and right mind, 100% of time? I'm not trying to have a go , j ust genuinely fascinated by ur coment ,

@hippychicken82 I think it's truly an American mindset... at least for the ones raised with guns and are in areas that are pro-gun. I don't mean that as a dig. I have family who live in rural Oregon and all my cousins were taught how to use a gun in elementary school.

    • @hippychicken82

@eloahnon4952 yes it's obviously an American mindset. Its years of indoctrination by gun companies who want more money and want to sell more guns. And because politicians are paid for by gun companies, it means they will never consider common sense gun laws because then they will loose the money, its clear as day to everyone outside of America that greed and power is more important than people's lives.
