I am glad my mother introduced me to this series when I was a child, and has lived to see the new trilogy and now the start of a second trilogy with Kingdom. I doubt she will be able to see the rest of the new saga with her health issues and age but so far so good, this will be the last set of apes movies for her if she does live to see part 3 of this set of films but she is so happy to see how far the tech has come and how the quality has stayed consistsnt.
Hope she gets the chance my friend 🙏🏾
Once Virgil reveals about Cornelius’s death, you can see Aldo’s gorillas lower their guns in regret and dishonour. I like to think that in that moment, while they did follow Aldo, they never wanted to hurt let alone be involved in the death of an ape child.
Some even raised their swords against Aldo during the chant, as if they agree he went too far.
Of course there showing regret, Aldo was outed by Virgil, and they were ALL guilty for not preventing Aldo from cutting down the branch Cornelius was on. Caesar should've exiled that whole group of gorillas out to the Forbidden Zone.
@@rcmorales9014 I don’t think so. They followed Aldo probably out of fear. He was the general after all.
Fear from what, Aldo? What would he do, kill the gorillas who would stop him? Ape does not kill Ape. Would he demoted them to cleaning the horse stables? They were all there to rally Aldo's cause for the weapons that Caesar had locked up, and that no Ape would dare to stop them, even Caesar himself.
🦍👈😃
Not all the Gorillas knew Aldo killed Cornelius. When they learn if it at that moment, they turn on him.
Aldo: Ape... Not... Kill... Ape!
Caesar: you are not an ape!
He's a monster
Have you seen "Kingdom" yet? It is excellent & easily one of the best films of the year.
@@erickvoshel1 I seen it and it was so damn awesome
Aldo: (falls to death) NOOOOOO! AHHHHHHHHH!
This is when their timeline changed: In one of earlier films, Zira says that an ape named Aldo was the first to say "No", and this led to them freeing themselves from man and starting Ape civilization.
So, in the original timeline, Aldo seized power and created a cult of personality around himself, leading to a darker version of their history.
Yep agreed but it was Cornelius I have been doing the same thing and research you are
I understand the original ending for this movie was going to have Aldo overthrow Ceaser and wipe out the remaining humans who he considered a threat, leading to the world seen in the original POTA and Beneath, creating a stable time loop but this was changed in production to lighten the tone of the movie
You have to consider that various generations would have passed, and they may not remember Cesar's teaching, like it happened in the new franchise, so I think this is what happen.
With Cornelius being the first to speak and being the leader of the revolution instead of Aldo, it gives hope for a better future. However, the weeping statue suggests that the kind and patient message of the Lawgiver will be forgotten or distorted, and we will probably end up with the world as it was in the first movie.
@@officialFredDurstfanclub No, because Caesar's presence as a whole already alters the timeline. It's without him that the world we see in the original movie is created.
That chant "Ape has killed Ape" will always get to me.
In reality hysteria can start even faster. It also shows even bad guys are able to feel social shame and ostracisation.
Ah yes, the original Koba.
But except that Koba had a full of hate towards the humans for what they done to him all those years ago, and lived in the cage. He was so obsessed of destroying all humanity so he can taste his satisfied. And he will kill anyone who stands in his way. But for the Gorilla, he committed an unforgiving crime of breaking an ancient law that should've never been broken.
@@aidanfraga3987 Not so ancient. Battle only takes place a few decades or so after the initial ape revolution and downfall of humanity. And we don't know what Aldo went through while in captivity, it might've been just as bad, if not worse, than what Koba suffered.
Caesar-You murdered my son, you murdered my son, YOU MURDERED MY SON!
My favorite movies as a youth in the 80's. Now my seven year old loves them. I really enjoy some of the philosophical banter that I was completely oblivious to at the time.
What irks me to this very day watching this movie, NOT one single gorilla soldier tried to stop Aldo from cutting down that branch Cornelius was standing on. And even if he got Cornelius to come down from that tree, what would he do to him?
Well, the Soldier Gorillas are like spectators and they are not very smart, they follow the orders of the one they consider strongest, they follow Cesar because he freed them, but they follow Aldo because he was their General, but when they saw the crime they did it. not doing anything to save Cornelius, Caesar's son, and breaking his most sacred law, they were forced to follow the orders because from the beginning it was normal to have to follow the orders of the strongest
So just like humans, we see a bad human leader doing something and we don’t get to stop it.
I think the gorillas were in shock . Like wtf are you doing.
He ruled his troops through fear nothing more, they did not love him or respect him they just did not want him to kill them as he is shown to be very ruthless.
....they are also the least intelligent of the three.
Aldo: Alright, I know this sounds bad-
Caesar: *Is smoldering with anger in his eyes.*
Impressive scene from the movie. Aldo being found out for what he did and ultimately paying the price for his crime.
The anger of his fellow apes was understandable after he killed Caesars son. He also looked very frightened that he was found out and that Virgil called him out for it.
Ultimately falling to his own death, his jealousy of Caesar and hatred for humans was undoing in the end.
As if all the injustices of the previous films' wrongs and the hate given had been righted....hopefully?
Who is here because of "Kingdom?" Who has seen "Kingdom"? Give me your thoughts.
It wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible either. It was ok. I was never bored or losing interest. I had fun with it.
Honestly I love kingdom of apes
@@victorm152 so a 6/10?
6/10 i wish the characters were fleshed out more, Proximus was great, Mae and Noa’s relationship was pretty one sided- I would’ve liked to see her do something nice for the apes after all the times they saved her. Raka needed more screen time, and why was Macy even there? He hardly got to do anything.
@@futuristicgirl14 I think there's room to explore all of these issues, characters & themes in the next 5 movies.
Even the apes knew gun control never works.
Instead of looking at a bad movie from the 80’s look at other countries. It does work. You’re just being manipulated by the gun lobbyist.

When I was a kid
These movies freaked me out
They do have old cartoon versions
Here's the craziest thing, this is the first Apes movie I ever saw, and it was at a drive-in.
I enjoyed the original series, but as a young boy, I had trouble understanding it. Maybe I should watch it again.
They’re little confusing because these movies have no true ending
@@JoseDeJesusMejia-dh4wb Now that I think about it, what you say is true. I saw all the original movies, tv series episodes, and even the animated series. all told an ongoing story with no real conclusions. There seemed to be some storyline lapses that only added to my confusion.
It's a madhouse....
THESE are the REAL Planet of the Apes movies....although the new movies are fantastic....These films hit more generations (I'm 40 In September)....I was OBSESSED with these movies when I was from 6-15 and then of course the "too cool" age came and I relied on hip hop and scoring with girls....but nowadays, even if I am working on something from home and see on cable (definitely not anymore) and on a streaming app..... I go on a crazy marathon that everyone calls me an obsessed nerd which in reality nerds are actually superior and these movies are so classic, they are ageless.....The social contexts....The narrative, the plot, the characters, the absolute ageless Entertainment that the films have it's one of those films like Star Wars, Godfather, and James Bond films that would make me stay at home and watch the whole marathon and not care for the commercials.....Now that's what entertainment and what the Oscars should nominate...not some artsy fartsy film that NOONE have ever seen.....These movies were the absolute representation of ESCAPISM which is the whole point of film
It’s people like you who’re working on the remakes and that’s why they work! You can tell the creative team has heart
OK unc
I loved these movies since the first time I saw them as a kid. Solid scripts and an overall cautionary tale.
Love these series
loved the original series, the limitations of the times made the directors show a different kind of movie then. very good in its own light.
I like that they are made that Aldo killed his own kind and not that he killed their prince
I’m 29 and watched these movies growing up alongside Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Godzilla films, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, the early MCU films, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman, and I can’t be the only one who thought they were chanting A Pesky Old Ape instead of Ape has killed Ape 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Disney gets ahold of this, and it be like:
MOUSE HAS KILLED APE!!
MOUSE HAS KILLED APE!!
duck has killed ape
I have no disrespect for these origional movies.. but you can see where they made budget cuts in the movies, like this scene where they just repeat the same audio over and over of the crowd saying "Ape has killed ape*
Yup. I have a soft spot for this movie, and it has some good ideas (as evident by Dawn being an excellent loose remake of it). But yeah, in terms of the original PotA movies I think the low budget shows the worst with Battle as it basically looks like a made-for-TV movie. So, given the lowering budgets I can see why they tried (and failed) to transition PotA to a TV series a year later.
Tbf they all pretty much came out a year apart of each other except the gap between 1 and 2 was 2 years. So for how little time they had it makes sense. I personally think it adds to the charm. I really like the one guy really putting his whole chest into it 😅
@@maswarm4585 you can hear the dude in the background just giving it his all "APE HAS KILLED APE"
@@mrchimpinski1411so what ? , it came out in 70s
@@sigenius again, no disrespect, I understand it's an old movie and this stuff is common.. still kinda funny though
Why do the all lose their around?! lol.. since the first movie I have to find them on youtube
"Ape has never killed an Ape"
Cannibalism: Am I a joke to you?
Watching this movie and this scene as I type this
Mr. MacDonald could've said something along the lines of, "Caesar, as hard as this may be for you to hear, once upon a time wild chimpanzees killed and even cannibalized other chimpanzees that didn't belong to their respective tribes. When we humans first started domesticating you as pets, we at first told you 'no' to prevent you from attacking each other in public because we wanted you to get along with each other, and we succeeded for the most part, but we let that power go to our heads. Can't you see you're doing the same, Caesar? Can't you also see that we also didn't completely succeed? We can try to prevent the primal urge to kill. We can try to teach, and most will listen, but there will always be those that surrender to that primitive desire deep down in the primal recesses of our minds."
At the time of these movies were made, chimpanzee behavior was not documented as it is now. Plus, the general population only saw apes/monkeys as entertainment.
Having Mcdonald say would have been a good moral parallel, but it wasn't a idea the writers would have known.
So this what we are gonna get in the new trilogy and I like it
Ape has never killed ape
Me: are you sure about that 🧐
I love these movies ❤
HENCH HAS KILLED HENCH
This is what that was referencing?

The final 3 original POA movies were cheap cash grabs. That said, I give Roddy MacDowell a lot of credit for sticking with it frkm start to finish. The only one he skipped was part two, but he had a good reason -- he was already committed to directing the movie TAM LIN in the UK, a project involving his own roots. Roddy was an important figure in Hollywood history. Hired as a child during WWII, he saw the end of the old studio system and successfully reinvented himself for the next era. RIP Roddy!
I would say the 3rd one was alright but the last two though weren’t good
I used to watch the old POTA films when I was a kid. Battle was my either second or third favorite in the original five. I know not everyone like this movie, but it was still ten times better than Kingdom of the POTA!!!
Hench has killed Hench! Hench has killed Hench!
Shame the the Lawgiver's final speech had to be muted
meh, he just says APE HAS KILLED APE a buncha times
Why is that 🤔🤔🤔🤔💯🐻
@@thebigbear2922 it's very catchy, an ape thing they do on new year's

I’m not here just because kingdom came out, I’m only here because I prefer these planets of the apes movies to the new ones
I hope they go down this route with the new movies
Nearly all 5 of these movies I’ve had trouble watching the last 2 minutes of, why audio why😭
Contrary to what people think, the Original Saga is a time loop. Paul Dehn, the writer of Beneath, Escape and Conquest, have made an uncredited rewrite of the Battle for the Planet of the Apes. Dehn himself stated that Caesar's tear was to tell the audience that his efforts would ultimately fail and the future of POTA and Beneath will happen. The scenes deleted from the original cut of Battle - showing the beginning of a mutant Alpha-Omega Bomb cult - support this hypothesis, and their restoration to the 2006 DVD reissue strengthens the argument for a circular timeline. Caesar's philosophy and Aldo's story will be deformed over time, Humans will become primitive again and the nihilistic ending of Beneath is inevitable.
Those rubber mask sure had to make talking for the actors to speak and move them
Loved these movies growing up. I have them all including the TV series. Roddy was such a a good actor. Even under all the make-up, his eyes said so much.
Was he the actor that played the Roman emperor Caligula in the movie of the same name? If so, I actually enjoyed his portrayal of the deranged emperor. So much so that, even though the movie was essentially soft porn, it's his performance that still stands out clearly to this day decades later. As a young guy in my early 20s when I watched it, it's a major compliment to his skills that I remember more his work rather than... well, rather than the pornographic elements.
No that's Malcolm McDowell. He's also a great actor. That movie wasn't soft porn, it was hardcore. It was added later by Bob Guccione. Not sure if I spelled that right. Anyway, the actors didn't know he was gonna add all that and I believe there was a lawsuit.
Better than the cgi versions
is the last minute muted for anyone else?
Yes and I don't know why.
This is still the weakest of the original Apes series, but it still has its highlights.
Nah BTPOTA is the weakest movie, 3,4, and 5 are better movies.
I felt sorry for Aldo… for about five seconds.
and.. audio was cut in the end.
For some reason at 6:45 there is no sound.
Can I just ask a few questions? Were the apes vegetarians? Most primates don't eat meat and very little when they do. How did they get all of the leather? I want to learn more about the history of ape textiles. At some point they learned metallurgy. They either learned it or copied human practices to manufacture the guns. They also would have needed to discover gunpowder. I have so many questions.
You know I always prefer the Remake versions of the franchises. But usually never expected the orginal had some good writings in the terms of the atmosphere.
If it wasn't for Virgil I think that human race would of ended up in a different place as well. His intelligence and Ceaser's leadership help formulate a better outcome for peace
Is that Chicago?
Help me Dr zaius
Dr zaius Dr zaius oh Dr zaius.
Aldo inspired koba
Is this supposed to be a prequel to the first Planet Of The Apes movie considering it’s got Cornelius as a young ape? Or is it supposed to be a different Cornelius?
Different Cornelius.
In the previous movie Ceaser led the revolution and all the apes were primitive apes who couldn't talk, how comes that all of a sudden all the apes became intelligent, can talk and even know about relativity????
1973 Caesar vs koba 🗿
What part of Detroit is this
Roddy McDowalls spoke volumes, speech was unnecessary
Underrated film out of the first 5 movies certainly better than then mess that were Beneath and Escape.
Why the statue cries at the very end ?
It’s either tears of joy that ape and human live peacefully or tears of sadness that ape and human fight

This is where the budget of the film and series as a whole is at its absolute worst you can easily tell they are just replaying the same shots over and over again but i still enjoy it for what it is
