John - I will be honest. I have been following Morissette for a couple of years now and am amazed by her talent to convey emotion in her performance of songs. You can immediately tell that while technique is important to her, and she has amazing skill, that she connects with the lyrics and what the songwriter is trying to bring to life with words. I don’t believe that is something you can easily imitate. It is real for her and, therefore, us. Of all the reaction videos I have seen, yours touched me the most. Your excitement at what she did with the song and your analytical breakdown, was both fun and educational. It was obvious that your reaction video was truly spontaneous. That, sadly, is not always the case here on TH-cam. Kudos to you and your masterful breakdown of her performance. Thank you for your honest and true reaction as well. It was an absolute joy to watch.

The whistle tone was impressive but that run at the end was even more amazing! To sustain that full voice with dips and crescendos for at least 10 seconds without taking a breath and no loss of power was absolutely incredible! I don’t think I’ve heard another pop singer do that, ever!

One of Mariah Carey’s music producers, Rhett Lawrence, heard about Morissette.Before the COVID19 pandemic/shutdown, he flew to Manila to hear her live. Long story short, Morissette had existing commitments and contracts, but when she’d fulfilled those-she embarked on working with American producers and arrangers. She speaks fluent English, which is vitally important. Everything is now on hold (worldwide), but I’m planning to keep an eye out for when she’s formally introduced to the American market. John is a vocal teacher and not a reactor. His channel is mostly podcast of vocal technique. I wish he woudl do more reactions- he is able to communicate very clearly and simply his extensive knowledge.

I think John is one of the very best because he is a vocal teacher, not a reactor. He is knowledgeable, experienced, notices things other vocal "coaches" do not, and he is able to communicate what he hears very clearly and simply. Unfortunately he does very few reaction videos - would love to hear him do more.

You know you are watching a true vocal coach react when they seem more impressed with her vowels and her breath control on the 14 sec phrase, than the whistle phrase.
Everyone loves the whistle, but not everyone notices and appreciates the nuances that make Mori so great.

At the time when Morissette recorded this song, she was 22 and now at 24 she actually had come a long way. This is Morrissette's iconic signature song and garnering 111 million views as of date and counting is not a small feat for a singer. Great reaction there and I loved it! This is the best vocal reaction I've seen. Morissette Amon is one of my favorite singers, and she is really incredible. But, what makes me happy is how you reacted to every part of the song where she gives a "wow" feeling. Thank you for reacting to this.
It's indeed mesmerizing to watch and hear Morissette sing. She has complete and absolute control of her instrument. Her breathing technique is unbelievably impeccable to say the least. And to top it all, she sings with such soul and emotional acuity. A true artist in the highest order.
I can only imagine your goosebumps. I'm not a vocal expert but always gets overwhelmed with her singing, over and over again.
I love how the thing that you were impressed by the most was how she managed to change from an "a" sound to an "e" sound and not the whistle tones. Not many voice teachers point that out. Thanks for this entertaining and educational video! Love Morissette too! Cheers ♡
The thing is, she isn't even really choosing the vowels, it's just the language. Filipino has hard, short vowel sounds. "A" is always the sound in "cat" never the one in "pay." "I" is the sound in "bit" not "bite." So in "akin ka na lang" the vowels go from the a to i because that's the word, not because she's choosing an (English) "e" rather than an "a" sound.

Morissette, the way she sang, you can feel her heart overflows with kindness, emotions and compassion. She is the serenity amidst the chaos of what's going on with the world right now. With her heavenly vocal control, techniques, runs, riffs, range, resonance, register, timbre, squeaks, breaks, cracks, cry, fry, growl, vibrato, tone, belt, chest voice, head voice, mixed voice and who doesn't remember her divine whistle notes (let's not forget about that) that are all so majestic she can easily sedates everyone's life turbulence and turned it into hope and love and music. I'm truly not meaning to make her "bigger than life", but Sir, if this is the first of her music you've reacted to, then you're in for more extraordinary vocals that go beyond amazing, from this girl!! She can do ANY genre of music. Her runs, whistles, fries, breath control, her heartfelt emotion, story telling of a song,...ah heck, you'll see and hear for yourself...but she has been God-given to the world!! I've had the pleasure of watching her perform live. She was singing, belting, whistling, dancing, and interacting with the audience, and not once was she out of breath. There are other female singers who also have been touted as the 'best female singer"- such as Lara Fabian, So Hyang, Angelina Jordan. It's all a matter or preference. Mori is one of my favorites as well.
