I know I'll have "made it" as an indy filmmaker when I can afford both cinema lenses and regular photography lenses of the same focal length.... Not because the lenses are expensive, but because I'll need a larger house with a larger closet to store all my gear in. "I can't buy this new lens because I can't afford a new house."
sorry to say but according to Sirui the minimum focus distance is 0.24 m which is 24 cm not 24 mm so just below 10 inches not one inch. perhaps they missed a "0" 😊
I have the sigma art 18-35, do you think buy these jupiter would be un upgrade? The sigma it’s too sharp and not cinematic but I can add a pro mist filter. What would you do for a short film, keep the sigma or sell it and buy the jupiter?
They appear to have largely the same benefits and liabilities as the (much cheaper) SLRMagic Microprimes. A three-lens set of which can be had for the price of just one of these. Though would love to see a review of that zoom.
Just got these lenses and love them! Though I'm having some serious trouble finding a 92mm step-down ring for my 77mm thread filters. Any idea where one can get those? Thanks!
I like the set. Personally, I don’t have much use for wide focal lengths, and when I do autofocus is a must because it’s likely to be on a gimbal. Something I’d look to down the road for sure if the kind of work I shoot changes.
Thanks for the review. A lot of TH-camrs mention when reviewing pre release products that they ‘are not the final version and on release things should be improved or production versions should be better” as you have. Do you really think that a company is going to change its tooling and material supplier at this late stage of production? Do you really think they would send you a set of lenses to review on TH-cam knowing that you would be reviewing an inferior set to what will be released? Don’t think so!
These look pretty nice, I'm impressed with how far Sirui has come in the past couple years. How do they stack up vs. other affordable cine primes like those from Meike or Rokinon?
I have a used XEEN 35mm T1.5 (rokinons actual cinema lens, not the rehoused photography ones) that I picked up for $700 used, and I have to say, I think it preforms better than this lens. It’s really soft with bad CA at 1.5, but stop it down to 2.0-2.8 and it’s super sharp, good image, good colors, nice bokeh.
@@hydromaniac7117 Oh wow, I had no idea you could get a Xeen for such a low price! I ended up picking up a Milvus 35mm because I prefer sharper images and I love the Zeiss look, but I wish it had proper cinema gears. I may pay to get it rehoused some day. But I'll look into the Xeens as well. The Sirui looks quite nice and I do like the Pro-mist look for softening light sources, but I worry that it will soften the overall image too much. The macro capabilities though are quite intriguing...
Caleb (DSL Video Shooter) can you clarify on the actual minimum focus distance please? Your video states 24mm (as you stated, under an inch in the video), SIRUI states 24 cm (.24m), what was the actual minimum focus distance you were able to achieve (of course without diopters)?
Love how you go into detail with all the right test footage, however the shots aren't held long enough to get an actual look at the test footage. Everything is edited like a quick montage so there is a lot of pausing and replaying. Slow it down please. I don't think anybody is in a rush when researching lenses or camera footage, lol. Thanks!
I saw a clip on your channel that you 3d printed a sm7b body with a custom capsule but now I can't find it! Can you advise if you're gojng to explain that mic?
Awesome Video! Are you still working on creating some 8-bit sony Luts? I bought your 10 bit lut and it works great! Would love to add the 8-bit lut to my A6400 cameras. Thanks!
I don't know, i like the look and a price. Also this macro stuff adds value in my ayes. Worth buying for me. But at first we need to wait 75 and 100mm.
The aesthetics of these remind me of my vintage Zeiss Jena "Zebra" lenses. However, the irises on most of those have failed over the last couple of years, and this could be a really good option to still get that look.
Thanks for making this. looks great. I'm trying to find the Sony a7IV trailer you mentioned to see more of the macro shots. I can't find it though, could you provide a link? thanks
.. I wouldn't buy these lenses. 800 each is good for full frame.... But I think the sigma 18-35 and 50-100 might be a better buy.... Even though I know they are super 35
paying a grand per lens for a focus throw that is so short between 10 meters and infinity? forget about it! Just get cheaper Rokinon Cine DSX lenses - weather sealed too!
cinema lenses are becoming the new smartphone gimbal. everyone is making them - I'm waiting for the RODE cinema lenses.
SanDisk cinema lenses
I LOVE IT!
Apple Cinema Zoom Lens $60000
Just like everyone become: Cinematic Video Maker 🥲
Hahaha. It won’t surprise me if Godox created a cinema lens.
I think the flare is ideal precisely for film, specially indie stuff. Nice video
Yeah I really dig it!
they have a really strong vintage look but crazy clean at the same time i love it!!!
That 35mm is calling me! It looks so smooth!
Same
Amazing price point, and personally I like the more “less perfect” aspects. Look forward to eventually playing with these. Thanks.
Agree! I love lenses with some character.
The macro feature is insane!! Thanks for the review :D
I think he got it wrong.
You need to try out the IRIX lenses. that are Full Frame and within the same price range slightly more but they are superb
Sirui's bringing out a zoom lens? Wow, this is gonna be interesting! Thanks for your review!!
I know I'll have "made it" as an indy filmmaker when I can afford both cinema lenses and regular photography lenses of the same focal length.... Not because the lenses are expensive, but because I'll need a larger house with a larger closet to store all my gear in.

Minimum focus at 24mm is very impressive! Thanks, Caleb for the great review
Thank you for watching TR! Good to see you as always!
@@dslrvideoshooter Glad to hear, man. Wouldn't miss a thing! 👍
I think Caleb go it wrong. Minimum focus is listed as 24cm not mm.

Look like nice lenses! Great review.
Thank you!
Great video! How would these compare to the Rokinon lenses which use to be the king of budget cinema lenses? thanks
These are much better I’d say

Been waiting for alternatives to Rokinon's kit and I think my patience will finally pay off!
Used XEEN kit
I knew this video was comin!
🥰❤️😍 Cinema Lenses 😍❤️🥰
1:08: "I am not gonna be focusing on that lense in this video" while actually focusing on the lense by rotating the focus ring.

Though would love to see a review of that zoom.
I think so too.
The micro primes are notably softer especially at faster apertures which for certain people (Like me) makes the price premium worth it
Which one would you pick if you could only pick one? 50m might be fun with the macro abilities of these big guys.
I like to shoot against light, would barndoors on matte box help reducing some of the flares or no?
For a second I thought they were anamorphic, too good to be true Ig
What's your audio setup? Sounds great.
Affordable. Very nice!
That macro is crazy
Would’ve loved to see the review on the full frame zoom lens !

Please do a video on the new Meike Full Frame cinema lenses. Would love to compare them to these. They have a very similar price point.
What do you think about he newly released Sirui 35mm Venus ?
Would the Sirui 24mm Jupiter macro t2 cine prime lens be compatible with the R6 Mark ii?
Just ordered a set of these. Any thoughts on whether I should I go PL or EF with an A7Siii?
Are you thinking of doing a video on the original RED Epic? I've just bought one (upgraded from the One MX) and I love it

yay a reviewer i trust
Please test the lenses on your cinema cameras too. The Sony F3 and the Red Scarlett.

Is the close distance really 24mm? On the Indiegogo it says 24cm and thats a big difference?
the minimum focusing distance is 240mm, not 24mm! From where did you get those specs?
Do you find these better or worse than the DZO Vespid as far as sharpness?
You should review the Canon R5C, I'm curious about your opinions.
How do these lenses perform compared to the meike FF prime
The minimum focus is listed as 24cm NOT 24mm. Big difference. Did you go closer than that Caleb? Fan of your reviews though.
How do these compare to the Meike FF Cine Primes? Make a lens shootout?
Meike FF has very low CA at this price point.
Where are you finding them at 800?
ACE! :D
Got any link for 92mm Stepdown ring

A nice set. I wonder how they stack against Samyang's.
Pro smok filter look.
Can these lenses be used on a Sony A7 IV?
yes with E converter

Con these be used with the Dji Ronin 4D?
If it can handle the weight!

In terms of image quality, how do you compare these to the Meiki FFs?
SLR Magic vs these? hm
“Sirui releases vintage lenses sleeved in a cinema housing” basically.
