- Painting WW2 German camouflage using the new Neoeco NCT-SJ83 gravity feed dual action airbrush. This is a great budget set that comes complete with three needles (0.2mm, 0.3mm, and 0.5mm), spare O rings and gaskets, and even a quick-release attachment. I always love when creators actually give an honest review on products, although getting the product for a trybut for free!I also love the camouflage you painted on your halftrack. This might inspire me for a project I was planning from a while. Thanks Stu!
Thank you - much appreciated!
Well done and genuine review! Very close to what a random user might experience. Good work.
I’m actually thinking of getting this one, I have a H&S, too.
A small side note: if you want a thin layer of Dunkelgelb, don’t spray it over black. Use red oxide primer color instead. Than the real in real colors will be on a whole different level!
Thanks. And a good point about the dunkelgelb!
NEOECO also has a set with a small compressor. The whole package was around 100€. On Amazon there's usually a similar package with Fengda or so on. I've been mulling this and that set over for a long time and I'm sort of leaning towards this.
It certainly seems like a higher quality package than similar deals available in the past. Definitely an affordable entry into airbrushing.
Waiting for mine to arrive to complement my Sparmax 0.2 and Iwata. Every review I've seen thus far has been very positive. Can't wait to try it out!
Thanks for watching!
Perfect timing, I've been attempting a come back to modeling for quite some time. The learning curve has been steeper than anticipated getting to know the volume if supplies available. . I should have checked my air brushes first. I'm ready to starting painting and have discovered my air brushes and compressor were probably used by Michael Angelo . Its probably going to be best to invest in something new like this airbrush and pressure controlled compressor than search for new parts and hoses on my old equipment. I organized my old stash and discovered lots of paint mules.so I'm almost there. So thanks for this video its definitely going to help. CHEERS from the colonies.
Cheers - and good luck with your airbrushing!
Love mine! No problems so far, been a year now. Does what i need it to do.
Can't get a better tool than that!
Thank you for this Video. Great review of a product I've been seeing lately . I want a second airbrush for detail work, so it's good seeing a honest review
Thank you mate - I appreciate the feedback
Hi Stu great video, I got one these out in Saudi as a back up it comes with a hose as well, super value, cheers Liam
Oh nice!
Thank you for this review.🖌
Thanks. I hope it was useful
I did the same thing when I changed to the .2mm needle and nozzle. It took a bit to figure out that I didn"t have the capp tight enough.
Glad it wasn't just me :)
I got one of these airbrushes in a set with a usb compressor. Both are surprisingly good for £50 total spent.
Two issues I've had with the airbrush:
1: the thread stripped in the black part for the needle backstop. I fixed this by wrapping some foil tape around the backstop screw, which gave it just enough bite to work again.
2: using acrylics, I've found the nozzle a bit difficult to fully clean, because of its depth.
Yes, the cleaning was definitely not as straightforward as my other airbrush - I probably should I have mentioned that in the video
Great demonstration Stu, I have never bought a leading brand airbrush, I'm currently using an airbrush from Border Model, it does a great job and is just under $80-00 AUD, might have to try these out and save some money, more towards the stash...
Haha - yes, I tend to "redirect" rather than "save" money :)
Great kit. The price is amazing for what you get. Really good quality and many options, unlike a lot of higher end kits. Also, so many I see complain airbrushing is expensive, usually due to the 85-160.00 Air brush kits. Compressors are easy to get, some already with regulators. Just picked up one from Amazon today, it also comes in RED.. Cheers!
Nice! Enjoy the airbrush! Thanks for watching
I an looking to get a new airbrush, I bought my first and current one on the recommendation of someone on youtube ironically and results have been sporadic from the start, I certainly would not recommend it. I have done a few models with it but sometimes it refuses to work as it should, so at the price of the Neoeco and others such as Fengda Ishall be looking to change very soon, thanks for your review.
Steven, can I ask what type of problems you're having with your airbrush? It is possible that I or my other viewers may be able to offer some suggestions.
The air on off trigger constantly sticks in the 'on' position, this despite thorough cleaning and lubrication and sometimes when I try to paint hardly any paint comes out , which means that I have to empty the paint cup and blow through with thinners , which sometimes works, or a total stripdown and start again. @@ModelNerd
Oh. I'm not sure what to say about that. Cleaning would have been my first choice but you've done that!
Hi Stu? I used my airbrush twice yesterday and again today and it has performed perfectly, the paints were Tamiya XF and clear gloss ,very strange. II still intend buying a new airbrush and it will be interesting to compere the two, thanks for your interest.@@ModelNerd
That's a very good review and I think for the money that is a bloody good airbrush kit. One minor criticism for me is that it appears a little chunky, especially with that bell end nozzle. Having used airbrushes for many years I would say there are four things in the acid test with dual action airbrushes.
The first is a really progressive flow of paint as the trigger is pulled back, the worst case scenario is pulling back on the trigger and getting no flow of paint and then suddenly a lot of paint. An airbrush that does this is rubbish.
The second fault is spatter when doing small spots or fine lines. An airbrush that does this is no good for fine detail work.
The third is the paint drying in the nozzle when doing fine work with very little paint flow, like small spots, so you are getting the air flowing and pulling back very slowly for paint and nothing comes out or initially paint flows then stops. Usually if you take the airbrush off the work and pull right back for paint it usually will start flowing again but if you are using the trigger limiter this problem is a real pain.
The fourth issue is when an airbrush gives a little spot or short flow of paint when the trigger is just pressed for air. Alternatively the paint is not fully shutting off. This again is a real pain for detail work.
You could say some of these faults like spattering or the nozzle drying off is down to paint preparation but I would say that if an airbrush is very sensitive to paint thinning then it is a bit of a pain. If the paint has to be very thin then it can easily run or fail to cover well.
I agree with your points, Allan. The only time I have the "air flow also produces paint" problem is when I haven't properly assembled the airbrush though - the needle isn't far enough forward into the nozzle when the trigger is neutral. But you're right, the better tools are less sensitive to these issues / make them harder for you to cause.
Putting needle in backwards - great tip! (Pardon the pun)
I've always done it that way - I think the shop owner showed me that when I bought my first airbrush in Singapore and I never considered there was another way to do it until I saw people on YT doing it differently :)
@@ModelNerd I’ll definitely be doing it the same way now. Thanks Stu.
Thanks for the review MN! Does the airbrush conform to the Iwata brand compressor?
Hi. It connected to my "standard" hose, which I believe is 1/8 inch BSP and is used by most popular brands. It's the same connection my H&S airbrush uses, and I believe they are now owned by Iwata.
I bought one of these a few weeks ago off Amazon and truthfully their not that good it just doesn't lay paint down smooth
Sorry to hear that. I found my to be good - I was certainly happy with the finish. Which airbrush(es) did you use before?
@@ModelNerd I have a infinity and a Mr hobby airbrush and they have gotten me spoiled 😅 but I haven't tried the other needles that can with the kit just the .5 and on yours is the bottom of the paint cup flat ? Because mine all the paint will not come out
I'm not sure what you mean about the flat bottom of the paint cup - are you using the metal ones or the large plastic ones?
@@ModelNerd ill make a video of it and post it on my channel so you can see what I'm talking about and them plastic cups are worthless
Looks like a decent product for the money
Bit of a play on words with the name isn't it Iwata Neo & Neoeco
I hadn't noticed that before. Yes, that's a bit cheeky.
Are those seals lacquer proof?..
Good question - I'm not sure. They seem to have survived my use of lacquer thinners so far
Hi I am very intrigued by this airbrush ,, as a guy who follows you, I was looking for a decent price air brush.. I am ordering it from Amazon tonight
Glad you liked the video - let me know how it goes!
Beginner airbrush???
I'd say it'd work well for a beginner, yeah

72 quid on amazon rip off
You can also buy it direct from their website
Hi Stu, the features offered look like a good value. Maybe a follow up after some hours of use to see how it still performs. Ease of cleaning, needle damage etc. Thanks for the product review.
Thanks. Yes, I think that's definitely a good idea. I'll use this to (eventually) paint my Prince of Wales and see how it goes.
Looks good!
Yeah, very pleased with it
it's a shame they didnt offer a discount code I would have got one!@@ModelNerd
@@organicpaul No specific code for me but I believe they are having a Black Friday sale at the moment
