Hey Rich! Ha! I am generally a happy guy, and catching fish makes me even happier 😄. Happy to hear it brings a smile to your face too. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank You for "taking me fishing with you!" Wow, what a great morning you had! And . . . Thank You for "sharing / showing" your viewers the patterns you used!
You’re welcome and my pleasure Michael! I try to give you guys as much information as I can, so you can really appreciate what’s going on, on stream, and what’s going on in my head and especially the flies and equipment. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Hi buddy! Thank you! Oh yes, very easy wading, but wish we had a little more water. The rain we got over the weekend I’m sure helped 👍🏻. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Ha! You picked up on that! Share the harvest, it’s been a very long time since I’ve taken a fish, other than with my granddaughter at a kids derby where you had to keep anything you caught. Luckily for the cat, that rainbow took the fly deep. I can’t believe he went right over to it and picked it up and took it back into the bush, so neat to see. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This creek doesn't disappoint. I've had a good time in it this year, too, with dries and nymphs. Fortunate to live a few miles from it and many other great trout streams. It's nice to catch a whole mix of trout species.
Hello buddy! Yes, a beautiful area, I too lived up there for about two years in the early 2000s, had a ton of fun fishing and hunting. Glad to hear you’re having fun too. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Great video Scott, love the way you approach a stream and Mahe your assessment of the stream activity regarding the fish! Definitely helps in catching fish!
Hi Jerome! Actually, my first assessment was walking across the bridge to enter the stream from across where I parked. While walking across the bridge I noticed a bunch of spinners in the air doing their spinner dance, that gave me a hint to what they were dimpling for. The beetle towards late morning was just a good guess, but terrestrials at that time and all afternoon is a good choice especially on streams with good vegetation on the edges. Try to be observant of everything going on with each scenario. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Man, not dissing your skills but with them rising & the water so clear, that looked like target practice in that stretch above the bridge 😂. So cool to see the take and some beautiful little wild brownies in there. Great stuff as always. - Chris
Ha! I don’t know, low gin clear water and the sun high and bright, not ideal conditions for any kind of fishing, but we made it work 👍🏻. Thanks Chris for watching and commenting.
Howdy Scott, nice top water morning. I tied up a bunch of Beatles last week. they have been working well. I say boom now ,,when I cast in the sweet spot .. thanks for that lol peace✌🏻
Ha! “BOOM!!” That’s awesome , hope you’re having fun with the terrestrials, a great option for the Summer. Don’t forget the black stimulator for a good cricket imitation. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video Scott. Great job putting on a clinic as usual. Even with the scorching air temperatures. Beautiful stream as well. Thanks for sharing, brother.
Brother Todd! Thank you very much. May have been a blessing fishing slowed down in the afternoon, gave me and the fish a break for the hot afternoon. Give them a rest and get me hydrated, perfect timing. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice video Scott, the trout fly fishing has been slow for me. I'm starting to do a little bass fishing with the fly rod and having fun with that. I'm surprised at how many fish you caught in the slower shallow water. Great job! - John
Hi John! Yes, most streams have been low and warming up, bass is super fun on the fly also. We got lucky with this good dumping of rain we got over the weekend, should help things a little. Maybe think about a Delaware trip, good time of year for wading. Any questions, hit me up. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Nice dry fly video Scott. Bet you were throwing 6X tippet! The boys were at the West Branch last weekend and caught some bruisers. Looking forward to the next one.
Hi Dave! Don’t be a betting guy, I was actually throwing 7x tippet, felt I had to go a little thinner, worked out great!👍🏻. Yes, I wanna head up to the Delaware soon also, hearing a lot of good reports. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Jeff! You’re too kind, I just like to share my experiences and help others have more fun on the stream. Being patient and observant goes a long way in this sport. Thank you very much for all your support.
No no no no Chip! That’s just good editing, ha! But, yes, it was a very good morning. I’ll be up your neck of the woods soon, maybe this week or the next. Thanks for watching and all your support.
That's awesome! Hopefully, I can run into you. I'd like to watch your mechanics if you don't mind. If so, I'll introduce myself and move on after I sneak peak a catch lol
Hi Scott love watching you fish dry flies. You make it look easy when in reality it is not especially when the water is that clear. Great job, we were going to stop there a couple of weeks ago on our way home from penns creek as I saw signs for fishing creek but wasn’t sure where to go.Next time I will get off exit and explore .Seems worthy of a stop to fish. Thanks for the video Scott
Hello Debbie! Thank you for your kind words. To be honest, it took me a long time to get the dry fly “thing” figured out, it really takes a commitment to stick with it through all the factors involved with dries. I’d like to make a suggestion, summer is a tough time to fish for trout compared to spring and fall concerning bugs, but it is a good time to concentrate on your dry fly game. On tailwaters and spring creeks there’s still hatching bugs, caddis and mayflies, and plenty of terrestrials to choose from. Patient stealthy approaches, getting into a good presentation position and just observing the water is all a learning process that takes time with a lot of experiences out on the water. So, on your next outing, try to put the nymphing arsenal away and focus on the surface, take your time and hunt for a trout. Good luck and have fun!
Yo Sung! Yessir, you said it, water low and clear, but actually for that creek that was about average, but clear water with tiny flies calls for a smaller tippet, proved to be correct seeing all the action we had. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hello Jim! Yes I am, I’m using the Cutthroat 50” Furled Dry Fly leader, just as my butt section of my overall leader length, then I add 5ft of 4x Flouro, then 3ft of 5x or 6x, if I go down to 7x or 8x my 6x section will only be around 12” then I’ll add 3ft of the 7x or 8x. Hope this helps. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Good morning William! Besides the occasional passing car/truck noise, the birdies chirping is a great backdrop. I use both barbed and barbless, I really don’t have a preference either way. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Ha! Good morning Dean! Funny I didn’t notice it right away in the person, but watching the video I noticed it immediately! It all worked out. 😅 Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Good morning Scott another nice video. I’ve got a couple of quick questions for you number one. I believe I heard you say you were using 7X tip it when you’re tying your fly with 7X tip what knot do you use? I most generally use an improved clench knot. This past Thursday, I was fishing the East branch of the Clarion River. I did OK got some nice rainbows one brown but I lost a nice 17 to 19 inch. Rainbow had him on for a while as I got him close to my neck he made a quick turn one leap And snapped me off. My question is every time I was trying to tie 6 x or 5x of extra tip in my hands. It was snapping off way too easy. Is it possible that the tipet Material wasn’t any good? How long should your spool of tipet generally last? Is monofilament generally stronger and last longer than floral carbon. Generally even when I was tying a blood knot to add extra tipet it was breaking fairly easy. I’m talking 5x and 4x. So I’m thinking that my material must be expired? Your thoughts. As always thanks my friend
Hello Michael! Hmmm, I’ve have many different spools of tippet, some much older than others, on rare occasions I’ve had a few bad spools of tippet, now I’m saying rarely over decades. Go through your spools and test a small section of it, feel for any abrasiveness or knicks, make sure it’s smooth on the surface then give it a stress test pull, if it feels reasonably good I’d continue to use it. Now for knots, I only use a simple clinch knot or a double surgeons knot, and both of them have been very reliable for me over my fishing career. Make sure you’re wetting your knots before you pull them tight. Also I never go more than a two size difference when building down my leader between sections and make sure you’re testing your knots after tying them, if any uncertainties, retie the knot. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You must be the happiest flyfisherman on TH-cam every time I watch your videos you make me smile great job Scott, and God bless

Hemingway was under government surveillance much like myself.

Yup. 100% not easy but being in one stretch with fish rising the whole time is a pretty darned good start! Tight lines brother.
Love your videos Scott Stay safe and keep them coming

Got on the water early this morning myself. Had good success with flying ants. Terrestrial season is fun. Great video as usual! Thanks!
Hey Scott! Good for you, glad to hear you’re getting into them, and on terrestrials!👍🏻 Nice work! Thanks for watching and commenting.

He's no slouch fishing underneath, as well. I call him the 'trout whisperer.'
@@nonewherelistens1906 yea I should’ve left out the word dry
Awesome video, Scott! You're the only one I know that dang near catches fish every cast. Lots of skill and a great fisherman.

Good morning Michael! Gin clear and cold, one of the very few freestoners that stays relatively cool year round. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Hi Doug! Summertime and terrestrials go hand-in-hand, it’s that time, give them a try. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Hey Scott!! Nice work slaying them on top!! That’s a new stream for me!
Good morning Jeff! Thank you, yes, nice stream to visit, put it on your list. Be talking to you Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Yoo Scott. 7X before July!! Man...that water looked beautiful but low and clear. Thanks for sharing.
