  • A lot of tourists stay in the resort areas of Lake Atitlan while getting drunk and partying all week. But what about the Mayan villages? What's there? What is life like in these untouched Mayan villages? I went on a quest to hear the Mayan language of K'iche in the villages and came out with much more....

That cloth he sold you is breathtaking. I hope you actually gave him a lot more for that. If you try and find those in the states it costs hundreds of dollars.

Thanks so much for this video I’m half Mayan and half Navajo I know not much of my dads side and he is kiche and he won’t tell me about the tradition because my mom said he was apart of a type of genocide that tried to ruin his people and because of colonization he rejects his tradition. I found this sad but I really wanted to learn about this side. You e been so helpful and thank you so much for the video!

yes cousin unfortunately this is the reality my father also is K’iche and the genocide was very hard but also another reason is because of fear of how indigenous ppl are treated throughout Latin America most chose to reserve indigeneity unfortunately even though teaching generations of our indigenous languages and cultures is a form of resilience and pride.

You know how cool that is? To know for a fact that you have Mayan blood in you? I hope it makes you proud.

@@Kay2be2mr I’m VERY proud!! And very thankful I have so much information on my background. I know many others adopted from Guatemala don’t know a lot about their biological parents. I’m very lucky!!

Wow! The people in the village are so warm and friendly. I can only imagine if a foreigner tries to come inside someone's home to only see theiir kitchen here in the US. What would happen? That would be a nice video lol

Me as an Indian (Hindi) lend up to this video while searching for mayans in guatemala. Good to see another Indian (my guess) narrating this!
