- This video is about my Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. In this video I am installing a new seat from Bonvent. They call the seat the Comfort Seat. The overall construction is pretty good. I wasn’t sure about the seat at first, but it has grown on me and I really like the way it looks. I recently installed a scrambler fender on my Interceptor 650. The scrambler fender definitely gives the bike a different look and it looks really good with the new seat. It has more of a dirt bike look to it which I absolutely love. This video is also part of my Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 scrambler build. The bike should start to look more like a scrambler over the next few months. I recently got some new parts from S&S for my Interceptor 650 which I briefly show in this video. I have ridden the bike with the new seat and I really like it. The new seat is more comfortable than the stock one for me. I don’t get any pain in my legs after riding the bike for long periods of time. Also, there seems to be less heat coming through the new seat compared to the original one. I really like the way the new seat changes the look of my Interceptor 650. The new fender looks great too. It’s going to take a while but eventually this bike will be a completely modified Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
Looks great I have the Royal Enfield dark brown bench seat, the flat look is a lot better looks than the standard 🏍🇬🇧👍
@Kenneth Heldreich Thank you. I appreciate the comment. I really like the dark brown on the Interceptor 650. It's super cool. I agree, the flat seat does give it a better look. I like the way it turned out. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.
That seat does look really good on there. The space in the front where it angles back while it doesn't match, it seems to work visually. I also like the ribbed looked. More classic and fitting to my eye. Looking forward to seeing the new upgrade install and what you think of the high comp piston and conrods. I bet those pistons and cam wake it up a little!
@adventuristnw Thank you. I really like the way it turned out. I think it will definitely come to life after the engine mods. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
Watched your handlebar video just before this and immediately subscribed. You have some good content.
I recently got my stock seat chopped and refoamed but they did a terrible job and the new foam is not firm enough. I will go back to the same shop this Saturday and see if they can fix it. If not, that money goes down the drain. I received my new RE signature brown bench seat yesterday. Let's see how that performs.
@Two Wheeled Paradox Thank you very much. Can't thank you enough for the sub. Glad you like the videos. That's a bummer about the chopped seat. Hope they can fix it. I like the brown seat. Very cool. I think I'm gonna try and make my own seat eventually. I actually want to start fabricating parts and try to sell them. (seat, fenders, and side covers for now). Not quite there yet. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
@@my-enfield612 Oh, it would be interesting to see how you make a custom seat. Maybe I could learn a thing or two and make my own. Fabricating the other custom parts is another level altogether. It is a great idea! I hope you will be able to turn it into a success.
@@my-enfield612 PS: To me, your channel is a hidden gem especially since I get recommendations of Indian channels mostly since I live in India. The local channels do not have such resources like the guides you have on your channel.
Seat looks nice & makes it look more "retro". I picked up the RE premium touring seat and comfort wise, it is 10x better than the stock seat. You are making me jealous though... My orange crush is hibernating in my shop until April or May. (Michigan). Can't wait to try out my new Shinko 705's I had put on. :) Thx for the updates on your build. Can't wait for your cam, piston & rod install.
I would love to get the idle down in the 800-900 range, but from what I've read it would need the computer to be flashed by someone who knows what they're doing.
@Michael Clark Thanks for the comment. That's what I thought. Looks more retro which is what I'm going for. Don't be too jealous. I've only been able to ride once every two weeks or so lately. It looks warm but it's been so cold lately. The sun comes out because it's Florida but when the fronts come through it doesn't matter. I'm from south Texas and I hate the cold. Shinko! Nice. I think I'm going to try the Michelin Anakee Wild a try. It's a radial knobby! I like the Pirelli Scorpion mt90at too. Yes, the idle might be tricky at that range. An experienced tuner could definitely re-map and make it work. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.
Looking good!
I've got the S&S cam and Powertronic ECU and they're a pretty sweet performance upgrade. High compression pistons are next on the wishlist!
One other mod I'd highly recommend is replacing the brake master cylinder. I upgraded to a Magura and it's a big improvement in brake feel.
@Neo Anderson Thank you. I haven't decided what I'm gonna use for the tuning yet. Powertronic looks like a good unit. I will probably get the Power Commander V with the Auto Tune kit. Thanks for the recommendation on the master cylinder. I'll check it out. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.
Seat looks great, hope i can find one here in Australia.
I get my new one the same color as yours next week. Sure looking forward to that day.
That is a beautiful seat! I am tempted, but I have three seats already..
I'm looking forward to following your progress, especially with regard to the hi-comp pistons. Do you have a plan for engine management? I considered them but for now am sticking with just an S&S cam (to be installed this spring). I have a Power Commander V with a Hitchcock tune for it.
@Pete B Thank you. That's funny. I was already thinking I'd have a collection of seats for this thing one day. I actually want to try and shape my own seat later on. I'm not positive which unit I'm going with for mapping yet. I like the idea of the Hitchcocks Power Commander V. I will probably add the Auto Tune kit too. Then, it should remap itself. It requires larger bungs be welded into the exhaust for the O2 sensors. I really want to build the new exhaust from scratch. If I do I can weld the bungs myself. If not, I'll have to make sure the pipes I order will accept the larger O2 sensors. You really shouldn't need the Power Commander for just the cam swap. You will want it for exhaust, intake, and piston mods though. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
Ah, I thought I was the only one with a collection of seats for his Interceptor! I got the stock seat chopped and foam replaced but that experiment turned out to be a failure. I also have the GT single seat which is great for spirited riding and just yesterday received the RE signature brown bench seat.
Sounds n looks Awesome, i had to give up my Harley last yr, I'm 60yo it just to heavy for me, but my son loves it.. thinking on buying one of this Re bikes soon, but I've heard if you ride them at 75-80 mph like on 4 hrtrip engine heats up. but really don't think so its just the Haters out there
@David N Thanks for the comment. I have had no problems with the engine running too hot. I usually ride at fairly high cruising RPM too. I had heat coming up through the stock seat when I first got the bike. I went to the Bonvent comfort seat and that problem is gone. There are a lot of haters. Don't believe the hype. This bike is very well built. I highly recommend. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.
@@my-enfield612 Thanks for the quick reply i'm sure thinking on getting one soon
New seat looks great.
Looking forward to your thoughts on the cam & piston upgrade and I have been thinking about the cam upgrade myself, hadn’t considered the piston & rod but may after hearing your thoughts.
I have done the YSS suspension front & back, made a huge improvement to the handling & feel of the bike.
What camera did you use for your riding part of the video, image and sound was very good.
@Daryl Wootton Thank you very much. I appreciate the comment. I will definitely give my thoughts when it's done. I've built a few hot rods and an engine is only as good as its weakest point. That's why I said "if we're putting pistons in, we might as well put in better rods too." I haven't seen anybody changing the rods in the Interceptor 650 yet. It's a lot of work and you need special tools. But, if I keep adding power to the bike it will eventually need stronger rods anyway. I'm also putting a racing clutch in it but I haven't decided which one yet. The hardest part will probably be the tuning. Might take a few tries. That's good news about the suspension. I've heard good things from other people too. I use a GoPro 10 for everything right now. For the exhaust, I have a mic mounted to the bike. I built a capsule for it so there is really good isolation from the wind. Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching.
@@my-enfield612 looking forward to following along.
Nice video. Bike sounds good. I had the Royal Enfield touring seat for 19,000 miles. Now on my second and at 30,000 or about 11,000 seat miles, it's getting uncomfortable already. As much as I want to stay stock I may give your seat a try. Was your old seat a touring seat?
@Me And My Royal Enfield Thank you very much. No, I never went with the touring seat. Only the stock one until now. I was close at one point. I like the stock seat. I just really like the shorter look, height and length, of the new seat. I would like to try and shape my own seat some day. We'll see. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
Can you put links on where to purchase in the states?
@radchills This seat is from Bonvent Motorbikes which is in France. I haven't seen this seat anywhere else. Also, all the parts from Bonvent are made to order. I waited at least six weeks for all my parts to arrive. So, I'm sorry but I don't have a link where you can purchase this in the states.
How are your motor mods going?
@chrispulham4779 Well, I haven't been able to start the mods. I've actually been pretty frustrated waiting a month and a half on two last factory tools I needed to get the engine out. They finally came in last Friday. So, I hope I can get started on the engine this weekend. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
