97 year Martin Raber, a bombardier in the 91st Bomb Group explains how he operated the Norden Bombsight on bombing missions over Europe during World War II. Martin remembered it pretty good. It was interesting to see he rejected a view held by a questioner about the position of the controls. It is claimed in some places that the placing of all variable controls on the right hand side was a disadvantage. Given that almost everybody is right-handed, this was not so.
Unlike certain modern commentators who claim that the Norden was a scam, this old chap who had actually used it in combat reckoned it was pretty good.
