To me this was the plan, the week prior all mainstream press, podcasts, twitter, news sites were all about Vince, Johnny and Grant it was all negative. A week before that you had Rock being asked about a match with roman from everyone that got an interview and he calmly said if they can build it long term then he'd do it. Now fast forward to this past week by Friday night all the Vince stuff is nonexistent in terms of what people are talking about and putting out there for clicks, its all about Cody,Rock & Wrestlemania. Also seeing how many DCEU weirdos following over is crazy, his movie didn't open in China yet did better than all the other ones that came out later that year, that universe was dead from 2018.

So after 3 and a half years of being WWE's final boss you turn Roman face just because the company fucked up? Hollywood Rock was entertaining as fuck, but that makes no sense.
Dwayne's "origin" story is always about how he couldn't deal with being booed and shit on. That dude ABSOLUTELY cares about how people view him. He whines about critics when they pan his movies. Meltzer is plain wrong. The Rock cares way too much and it's hilarious.
No fucking chance this was an elaborate work. Rock was just that oblivious to everything. He thought he could just waltz back in and expect the fans to go along with it. But Rock didn't understand is the people crowned Cody as their new champion. Ofc, Rock is gonna say when this is all over that "Oh this was the plan ALL along!"
No it was just you assuming a match was official based on nothing. It was so obvious Friday, Cody wasn't done , hadn't even made his pick. You all just got mad, fell for it. Got wwe trending, tmz reporting it and not vince
All you "smart" fans wanting to act like you weren't worked. You're so used to trying to figure out the direction WWE is going and then opposing that, that when you find out the WWE wants you to boo the Rock, you now don't know what to do. How about just enjoying the show?
Remember the promo a week ago where Cody said it had been a really challenging couple days? I think that was when he found out Rock was taking his spot.
Okay so hear me out, this is setting up Cody vs Roman at Elimination chamber, Cody wins the belt with the help of the Rock, which sets up Roman vs Rock at mania, but also sets up Cody vs Seth at mania for both belts, Cody wins and has double champ status could even be a triple threat for both belts if mcintyre gets thrown in.
We have to keep our feet on their necks, they're trying to give us Rock vs Roman, we telling them that we're not interested in that. If people didn't get behind Cody then WWE wouldn't care to back Cody, it's all about the money for them.
If it was a work, the Rock could’ve used his “power” as a “member of the board” to inject himself and bump Cody out…that’s an actual heel move. The Rock was expecting to be a baby face. He went out of his way to show Cody respect for stepping aside…they are scrambling to make the reaction fit the story now.
What they need to do is to have Roman fight Cody for the title on night 1 and lose and then fight Rocky on night 2 for the role of tribal chief and lose again, so now Roman would have lost everything and can start to rebuild himself until he eventually turns Babyface and take everything back
The Rock is more brand than human at this point. I mean, look at how he handled himself with the Furious, and DC franchises. I seriously doubt someone like that would allow himself to be painted as the bad guy on purpose. The degree they played along with the backlash on Raw was clearly a pivot, but even then, there were reports they still muted chants during the main event.
100% rock thought he was gonna be the returning conquering hero. After the fast and furious, black Adam, and Oprah stuff, his ego and public image has taken a huge hit
Genuine question: Taking the whole 'you screwed Cody' aspect of it away. Roman Reigns v The Rock. Does anyone actually think this is going to be a genuinely decent match? The other week the Rock got completely gassed in that 30 second interaction with Jinder. Do you reckon he can actually compete for 20/30mins in a Mania main event giving a worthy performance?
He's delusional when he says the Rocky sucks chants were not loud, and WWE muted them during the main event, there's videos proving that fans were chanting rocky sucks and if you think St Louis was bad, just wait to Philly gets their hands on the Rock if they don't change it. They will destroy him and the main event.
The Rock doesn’t care if he is boo’d or cheered for his last match ever? Really? The same Rock who negotiates the amount of times he’ll be punched in a movie so his character doesn’t look weak?
I dunno who Meltzer's source is but he must have some real faith in them lol Literally every other dirtsheet writer is reporting "no one has any idea what's going on."
Folks, I’ve been watching wrestling for over 25 years. If the wrestling on air personalities acknowledge anything, IT IS A WORK. If they don’t want something to be part of the story, it will be removed, not promoted. Let’s all sit back and enjoy the next few months. 🍿
Dave saying he doesn’t care about getting booed is incredibly out of touch. Rocks entire career and identity is to be the rock nice guy who people likes. There’s a reason he refused to play the villain.
@@herringstheseries you mean the movie where the hole ad campaign was about how cool the rock is and it’s revealed he’s the bad guy till the final act? I mean he was the bad guy in scorpion king. But he has not had a villain role in almost 20 years.
Was absolutely a shoot that they've pivoted into a work due to fan backlash. Rocky simply overestimated how much fans wanted Rock vs Roman if it meant coming at the expense of Cody finishing his story.
If this was a work from the very beginning, how the hell did they think to explain not just the Rumble win, but Cody then just voluntarily giving up his match with Roman? Made him look like such a loser.
What was Cody going to do? Rock doesn't care. He seemingly made his involvement in the Mania AFTER Punk was hurt. After Cody won. If Punk won Rock would have a hard time trying to be the main event anyways. So yeah, it does make sense but what a shitty situation
Dave really a plant at this point for his “contacts” to try to minimize what is going on and rationalize Dwayne in the main event while simultaneously saying the work doesn’t make sense bc of Cody winning the rumble.
I want Cody to beat roman for the title. I want Cody to main event wrestlemania. However, I still believe that for the Bloodline storyline and Roman Reigns storyline, The Rock match has to happen while Roman is still champion. Roman's Historic run as champion can not end without facing and beating the rock imo. After that, give that rocket ship to Cody.
I get where you're coming from. The Bloodline story should end with Roman vs Rock. However it doesn't need to title. Roman is never gonna be full time again. That is an attraction match so it really doesn't hurt either guy to lose it. The way it should end is Roman losing the belt to Cody. Then he goes on to the Rock. Rock can beat him (not for the belt). Then after being this unstoppable force for so long it looks like he's losing it and that's how the Bloodline falls apart. He can have matches with Solo and Jimmy. You could make Solo and Jimmy even bigger stars in the process. Roman could become a face, or Solo and Jimmy could. Wrestling isn't difficult, at least not as difficult as they are making it just now.
100% of all internet death threats are just idiot ass fans who don't know how to deal with their feelings. I was mad for Cody, too, but with 8 weeks till the show. They must have a real plan for Cody to face Roman. If they don't, it wouldn't be the first time WWE shitted on their fans.
Work or not, the end result is what matters. TH-cam sees likes and dislikes more or less the same way - it's engagement. A modern take on the heel/face dichotomy. Right now, Cody's social media engagement must be through the roof along with merch sales. If so, the WWE have no reason to care about "illogical storytelling" and "bad booking." Especially if it overshadows the LAWSUIT OF DOOM. Younger fans don't remember this, but when the Montreal Screwjob happened, people were talking about the WWF being on its death bed. WCW would eat them alive! McMahon was a dunce for letting Hart go! Nothing made sense! And McMahon had the GALLS to gloat about it! Bret screwed Bret???!! My God!!! The whole thing turned McMahon into the biggest heel in ages and gave Austin his perfect foil. It helped give Rocky a springboard for his heel character and set off a ton of storylines that are still widely considered to be both iconic and extremely successful. It allowed the company to overcome a massive ratings slump and grow into the juggernaut you know today. yet fans saw the whole thing as bad booking and shoddy treatment of talent in the name of ego stroking. Bad booking? Bad decisions? The WWF/E has a history of fans getting upset and yet somehow coming back. Too many eyes on the lawsuit? Too many media outlets associating the WWE name with the lawsuit and McMahon scandals? Not good at all. Don't like the product? There's no shortage of alternatives domestic and foreign for you to enjoy. Just don't buy more merch or watch their show. Don't watch the TH-cam videos and engage.
If they change it to a triple threat. It's only because of the MAJOR fan backlash. Why would they have Cody say on Smackdown to Roman. "Just not at Wrestlemania" than have a triple threat with Roman vs Rock vs Cody?
To be fair the Rock is even better as a heel. People still love heel rock. Also maybe rock wants the heel heat and then turns back to help Cody in some way at some point.
Okay. Hold on. First Dave said Rock wanted to "save Wrestlemania" after the stuff with Vince, Brock, and Punk. Then Rock/Roman was the plan since Jan 3 at latest. Then they allegedly had sponsorships and merch so Rock/Roman had to happen. Now we're back to "it's a work" and it's not going to happen like that. What the hell, Dave? I think you should clarify your understanding of the timeline so far and tell us why you're reporting such wildly different stories. I'm not calling you a liar. As I've mentioned before, I know/have known multiple people who know/knew you. Including Zane. I'm just saying it's confusing and doesn't seem to add up. Now other outlets are reporting something completely different from what you're reporting. What's going on here, Dave?
All of you people saying that this wasn't their plan all along you have no way of knowing that. You just don't want to admit that you got worked like hell.
If this was a work, it's the dumbest one they've done. They made Cody look like an idiot, Seth look like a joke that no one wants to wrestle, and The Rock look like a complete asshat. It accomplished absolutely nothing positive.
Works typically have some kind of internal logic that's clear once the plot twists reveal themselves. This looks like exactly what it was: a shocked reaction to an outraged fan base.
Like I said, you have no way of knowing if it's a work or not. You just *hope* you're correct in that it's a pivot from a bad decision. And it's incredibly silly to think WWE didn't know this would get massive heat anyway. I'm leaning more towards we're all marks, but that's a good thing since it means people are invested.@@scotthunt4206

There's no way they planned on making the rock look bad... This is trying to save face for the BS they did
The sound was turned down. C’mon now. Bunch of Busted Open callers said the chants were going all night long
Have him go Heel and Bring Back Hollywood Rock and with the entrance music and all and have him go off on all the Fans 😂
A Toronto style promo would be epic of him crapping on the marks 😂
I don’t think Hollywood rock was an act. I think that is Dwayne
So after 3 and a half years of being WWE's final boss you turn Roman face just because the company fucked up? Hollywood Rock was entertaining as fuck, but that makes no sense.
Dumb
We need that for 2k24
Dwayne's "origin" story is always about how he couldn't deal with being booed and shit on. That dude ABSOLUTELY cares about how people view him. He whines about critics when they pan his movies. Meltzer is plain wrong. The Rock cares way too much and it's hilarious.
Dave was not there at Raw. The crowd in St Louis was clearly all about the Rocky sucks chant. Ask the people that were there.
Dude…Cody is a MID. Not everyone creamed when he jumped back over from the other place. Still stardust to me
The people crowned Cody?! 🤣. You mean WWE did when he signed his contract and created this story. Enjoy the ride buddy.
@@user-fm3xr9yz3i thank you!
The best thing that can happen is, Rock becoming the special referee and having to count 3 on Roman. Oh the DRAMA
Do people forget that the Rock literally said he was going after the "head of the table" before the Rumble?
All you "smart" fans wanting to act like you weren't worked. You're so used to trying to figure out the direction WWE is going and then opposing that, that when you find out the WWE wants you to boo the Rock, you now don't know what to do. How about just enjoying the show?
Remember the promo a week ago where Cody said it had been a really challenging couple days? I think that was when he found out Rock was taking his spot.
Damn
Black adam can screw off - an executive should never be allowed to be involved with talent - else they should take talent’s pay instead.
What they need to do is to have Roman fight Cody for the title on night 1 and lose and then fight Rocky on night 2 for the role of tribal chief and lose again, so now Roman would have lost everything and can start to rebuild himself until he eventually turns Babyface and take everything back
LA Knight vs Seth and Roman vs Cody would have made everyone happy. The Rock can come out and do his usual BS
Genuine question:
Taking the whole 'you screwed Cody' aspect of it away.
Roman Reigns v The Rock. Does anyone actually think this is going to be a genuinely decent match?
The other week the Rock got completely gassed in that 30 second interaction with Jinder. Do you reckon he can actually compete for 20/30mins in a Mania main event giving a worthy performance?
Please keep booing him so he can turn into heel Hollywood Rock again. That would be amazing hearing him just absolutely rip the fans a new one again 😂
Hearing Dave move saliva around in his mouth drives me insane.
It is completely obvious Meltzer doesn't have a damn clue what's going on. His story has changed about 35 times in the last 2 weeks
The things is everyone is over Romans title reign and The Rock makes this match ever worse
Wasn’t as loud as you wanted it to be Chief- not even close
@nonyabidness7911 they were the loudest reactions of the crowd all night, period.
@@mattb6616 you could say the same when the rock was back on friday (sips tea)
The Rock doesn’t care if he is boo’d or cheered for his last match ever? Really? The same Rock who negotiates the amount of times he’ll be punched in a movie so his character doesn’t look weak?
Rock is not getting work red heat, but shoot white heat. He don't want that. Word is now that he is an egomaniac in real life.
I dunno who Meltzer's source is but he must have some real faith in them lol Literally every other dirtsheet writer is reporting "no one has any idea what's going on."
Doesnt actually matter whether it was a work or not
Theyve gotten one hell of a reaction, pivot accordingly and its great business
Him getting booed is the reason why he's a star in the first place lmfao
The guy who whined and cried about Baywatch flopping doesn’t care about being cheered or booed?
I'm pretty sure Rock does care if they boo him. He seems like he has a huge ego.
Folks, I’ve been watching wrestling for over 25 years. If the wrestling on air personalities acknowledge anything, IT IS A WORK. If they don’t want something to be part of the story, it will be removed, not promoted. Let’s all sit back and enjoy the next few months. 🍿
Does Dave have hearing problems? The rocky sucks chants were VERY prominent. This wasn't a small group of people doing it....
Dave saying he doesn’t care about getting booed is incredibly out of touch. Rocks entire career and identity is to be the rock nice guy who people likes. There’s a reason he refused to play the villain.
Anymore, he played villains in the beginning of his career. (DOOM)
As if the rock wanted to be heel....and Roman already is one so how would that work booking-wise for the match. At this point Dave will say anything.
Amazing, 10 full minutes of this man being wrong.
It’s gonna be a 3 way to help cover up the Rock’s deficiencies due to age and not wrestling for 11 years.
We will just pretend Dave didn't have the vapors over this
I don't think for one second this was the original plan. I think the backlash was so strong they couldn't ignore it and HAD to turn it into an angle.
“Hey this story is going great”
The Rock “not gonna work for me brother”
To be fair the Rock is even better as a heel. People still love heel rock. Also maybe rock wants the heel heat and then turns back to help Cody in some way at some point.
I'm pretty sure it bothers him. He's developed a fragile ego in recent years
This is the most obvious work since CM Punk being The Devil.
And by that I mean it's not a work and they're still going to screw Cody somehow. WWE never changes.
Of course this is a angle. It's wrestling. I love when companies still trick the Marks like this
Dave: “it’s been 100% a work dating back awhile”
Awhile = Saturday morning after they saw all the backlash from Friday night
Okay.
Dave is Running Damage Control for Cry Baby Rock.
It was never a work the whole time. The Rock doesn’t wanna get booed so they are back tracking themselves into a work now.
10:29 THANK YOU. What is the point of the ELIMINATION CHAMBER ?
They're not saying boo they're saying Boorama Bull
Man I hope he comes out to the Hollywood Rock theme and entrance.
that would be cool
It's about as clear of a work as cm punk being the devil
Bunch of marks lol. Why is Cody entitled to finishing his story and not anyone else right now?
The rock is going to be so thrown off if he gets booed in person, at this point
You know it's a fake sign if it's printed on 8x11 paper. Like the Chase U signs
i think we need to clear up what exactly the work is?
its obvious the rock has been reigns plan for mania this year based on day 1.
but why did cody win the rumble if punk was going to find his way to rollins.
whats the plan for cody. whats he doing at the chamber?
Dave is just making shit up, how is it not obvious at this point.
Literally just do a triple threat. It’s not rocket science.
The Rock trying to save face now 😂😂
I really don’t think it was a work. Dwayne is so self centered that he wouldn’t want to be portrayed negatively like this. I think they’re now making it a work because of the backlash
Would they boo the Rock if he was actually there, is the question. This fanbase was bowing to Vince AFTER thd initial NDA stuff came out lmao
Wonder if these Boy's have recovered from that 300k in viewers "Collison" got Saturday? So much for the "Buckaroos" bringing back viewers?
