Awesome frame. Why not make one cut and then rotate the wood 90° to make the second cut with the offcut being on the left side of the blade to prevent it from being trapped between the blade and fence and the L shaped piece against the fence. For more stability and support on the second cut, one could use double sided tape to attach some soft wood to make it wider and to prevent if from tipping over into the blade.
U totally crack me up. I don't want 2 go 2 over the top. The frame & artwork.....colossal! Love ur stuff. I want 2 b just like u when I grow up; and I'm a 68 yr old woman. Late bloomer.
That frame is stunning now a see why I released those videos in sequence might have to give me this a shot with some dark elm a got and some chesnut can't get/afford maple and walnut!🤔🏴👍
@@NewtonMakes yea a must say am fortunate enough have quite a decent stock of them although spookily after wrote that comment got phone call from m8 mine who bought some chesnut of me and is wanting to repay it in crotch maple wood so I'll take that thank u very much. 🏴👍
That is SO AWESOME! Very very creative design and the execution was on point! Really makes you think about other ways to do picture frames! Always glad to see a new video of yours come across my feed!
Wow that turned out really awesome and honestly I wouldn't have ever even thought of making a picture frame this way, who says that you can't teach an old dog a new trick!!! As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
Absolutely love it! I probably would have enjoyed watching you make it even more if I could have stopped crying while you were converting 90% of the walnut to sawdust. You wouldn’t believe how expensive walnut is here in the UK. I might have a go at this but I think I will be dyeing some cheaper wood to get the same effect.
It was the plan all along but I forgot to say it. The channel let me safely remove the bulk of the material. Then I buzzed the end off to make it an L.
As someone who has spent a small fortune on imported American Walnut during their lifetime, it was a bit painful watching you turn all that walnut into sawdust😀. Definitely worth it for the finished product though! I should have watched the scrollsaw video first, now I know how impressive it will turn out to be!
I was thinking the same thing. It looks like he cut a large groove into the walnut and planned to wrap the Maple on 3 sides, but ended up wrapping the maple on only 2 sides. So even more maple was removed before the glue up. It does look cool, though.
The frame does look awesome, but I feel bad about how much walnut was wasted in just pure material and also cost. There has to be a better way to do this that uses much less material.
Hey Newton, I love the concept and the final product looked amazing. How did I not know about the Newton Makes Art channel???? haha stop wasting wood, how can you make something with out natural waste?? Thanks for sharing.
"Marking the waste..." I often say that present me has sufficient data to accurately predict that future me is going to be a dumbass. This is why I mark and label everything I can think of. Painter's tape is my friend in the shop. Second only to my trusty "shop frog".
Beautiful work, Billy! Fantastic looking frame! 😃 I've been thinking about printing some space stuff... Pictures from the JWST, Hubble and others... And then making frames for them. 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That looks amazing, we'll done. How do you think it would be if part of the picture was starting ontop of the frame at the bottom right hand side. Would this be just to much or do you think it could work and just pull you eyes right into the artwork even more than it does already.
Man I thought the frame looked great but then you put the artwork in there and my jaw dropped. Unbelievably well done!! Looks just spectacular.
Glad you stayed until the end!
First I've seen a picture frame like this, double stacked and thicc - pure deliciousness.
Throwing a maple spline in each corner would have fit the theme perfectly.
Really nice frame, Billy. I'm disappointed that you couldn't figure out how to do woodworking without wood (lol).
Bill
People HATE when I use slabs!
Awesome frame.

Love love love these artistic takes of traditional frames
Wow that looked awesome!
Make those thicker, and you could make a bad ass traditional but futuristic chair or table.

That is a really neat idea for a picture frame and complements the scrollsaw picture perfectly.
"I went ahead and grabbed a slab and cut that up. Because it makes people really mad..." 🤣
Looks awesome 👍👍
Love the uniqueness of the frame and how well it goes with the artwork. Stay awesome.
Looks very cool
That frame is so cool! Almost as cool as the art work. Nice job!
Thanks. I felt like the art needed more than a regular frame. I'm happy with the end results.
That is a super fricking cool frame. Gives me A lot of ideas.
Man, that is neat!
That frame is insane!
Holy moly that’s amazing!
Wow! It turned out so awesome!
Wow - your creativity with small projects like this is just amazing. Thanks for sharing!
That's a dope frame sir! I got a 8 x 12.25 DOOM Relief that needs a frame like that. Chef's Kiss!
Man that came out great! Niice work, enjoyed the video.
Thanks, Kris. It was a fun one to make and I think it coordinated well with the artwork.
That is one great looking frame!! Great idea! JimE
Very creative frame Billy and it's perfect for that scroll saw project! Nicely done brother.👍👍
Man that turned out nicely, very cool design too man great video
Wow Dude! Looks great!

Great Frame! I noticed that you started by cutting a channel in the walnut but switched gears to the L-shaped. Any particular reason?
It was the plan all along but I forgot to say it. The channel let me safely remove the bulk of the material. Then I buzzed the end off to make it an L.
@@NewtonMakes Ah, gotcha, really pretty frame. I might try my hand at a version.
Nice!
Your so talented and thank you for sharing these projects with us. What sizes and brand bandsaw blades do you use when making boxes. Thank you
I typically use a Starrett or Olsen 1/4" blade in my bandsaw.

I get a lot of comments about using slabs for projects so it's fun to poke a bit back at people.

Love that idea. The JWST is a work of art. I was very excited about its launch.

I've done that with other projects and it can look really cool. I think it depends on art.
neat
This is a picture frame. Glue should be more than enough for the miter join
Love the frame...hate what you put in it.
Muito bom ! 🇧🇷
Sweeeet
Beautiful but seems like a whole lot of wasted wood.
Wow that came out amazing!
