    Had the Walmart re-issue Devastator and the only member of the team I actually had fun with was Scavenger

      @antonharmacinski276 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think Scavenger is great as well. Clean bot mode. Has some posablitly. Easily one of the better Constructicons.

      Scavenger always has a good figure in each iteration of the team both from Hasbro/Takara and 3rd Party.

    You slept on Galvatron. He's arguably THE most articulated G1 Transformer after Jetfire (universal shoulders, two different elbow joints -- forward and inward, hinged hips, hinged knees, downward toe movement), plus he has the electronics. You could actually POSE him. I loved that toy.

    • @metanalletv4927
      @metanalletv4927 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hun-grrr is the most articulated imo

    • @MICjordanTPR

      @@metanalletv4927 Yeah I think you're right... that was another great one (head swivel, shoulder swivel, elbow hinge, universal hips(!!!), knee hinge, and toe hinge). Snapdragon was a pretty good one too (ratcheted shoulder swivels and elbow hinges, hip swivels, double jointed knees, upward toe tilt). I didn't keep most of my G1 figures but I kept all of those.

    • @kirkkerman
      @kirkkerman ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I actually think Megatron looks quite good in robot mode if you just compress the hip joints inward and let the legs angle out a bit. I don't know why he's always shown with them splayed out like that; it almost feels like a mistransformation

    • @kirkkerman
      @kirkkerman ปีที่แล้ว

      @masterskywalker6604 I suppose that makes a lick of sense! I still think it looks visually a lot better with the hips compressed though...

    The only G1 Decepticon toys I own are Soundwave and Laserbeak thanks to one of the earlier Takara reissues. They're both solid

  • @rayvinson1414
    @rayvinson1414 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When you get to the Autobot list, I kind of expect to see several similarities. For instance the jump starters are pretty much the same concept as the battle chargers but with arms and the com binders are pretty much the same as their respective counterparts (except maybe for the leaders). Otherwise look forward to seeing the next list and thanks for your thoughts.

    I just realized I've owned all but 12 of these G1 figures at one point or another. I never had the deluxe insecticons, Cyclonus, Shockwave, Ratbat, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Thrust, Gnaw, or Octane.
    Onslaught and Trypticon are my favorite two from this list. Sadly, my older brother's G1 Megatron self-destructed into about 7 pieces, so I have a very low opinion of that toy's quality. Soundwave, Shrapnel, and (Red) Rumble met with similar fates. I was also stupid enough to sell my complete G1 Reflector on Ebay as a teenager.

    Oh man Shockwave, such a cool toy but oh it hasn't aged well. Always knew about the rubber hose but man that purple plastic and the springs they used is just a recipe for disaster. Such a shame. Really regret not getting the Siege version now just to have an iteration of that design on the collection.

    I think Barrage is fantastic! He has shoulders (so he can aim his blaster!), the legs move back and forth, the knees work, and the bug legs all collapse neatly into the shins... Only thing missing is a proper neck.

  • @RialVestro
    @RialVestro ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think Shockwave, Galvatron, and Megatron should all be in holy grail above anyone else in that order because they're all figures Hasbro will never reissue. Shockwave also has the best articulation of any G1 Transformer ever. I'm not holding the lack of articulation against anyone but when it's there I gotta give them credit for it. I only put Galvatron above Megatron because of the unfortunate trigger placement on Megatron's robot mode.
    I think Trypticon is another figure that will never get a reissue but for a different reason. If I remember correctly all the old large city bots failed the drop test which means parts broke off of them that kids could possibly choke on when they fell from 3 feet off the ground. Because they failed that safty test they can't be sold in the U.S. I'm not sure how modern Titans passed but these old figures with diecast failed but that's besides the point.
    I'll be honest, I really don't like Trypticon. I've never liked characters who don't have proper robot modes so that automatically puts him lower than Metroplex or Fort Max in my personal opinion. However despite my personal opinion I think just because he's going to be harder to obtain for legal reasons, at least in the U.S., he is kind of a literal holy grail to anyone that would be into that design. I would put him under Megatron but above everyone else because every other figure has or could get a reissue you can get for a reasonable price. The 4 I just mentioned will never be reissued which is going to make more pricy to obtain since you have to find them vintage or from Takara exclusivly.

    • @TatsuChi

      Trypticon got a reissue in the platinum range a couple years back

    • @RialVestro
      @RialVestro ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TatsuChi Really? Well in that case screw him. Honestly I feel like Grimlock does more for a cheaper price. Grimlock has the same beast mode but also has a robot mode.
      Forgot to mention this in my last post but I think Trypticon also has the weakest city mode as it just looks like a lizard laying down. Metroplex and Fort Max aren't that great either but they at least have some towers and stuff, they feel like they're trying a bit more to resemble a city. Metroplex looks really good in Animated but they kinda cheated a lot to make that work. Even when the cheat it in the animation Trypticon still looks like a dead lizard in city mode.
      I do like his beast mode but that's really the only mode Trypticon looks good in which kinda defeats the purpose of a Transformer when he's never going to be displayed any other way. I really just want to redesign Trypticon as a retool of Grimlock just to give him a proper transformation into an actual robot mode.

    • @Trebleshot
      @Trebleshot ปีที่แล้ว

      Fort Max got a reissue in Japan. The drop test part was only for a reissue in the US market.

    • @RialVestro
      @RialVestro ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trebleshot I know that's why I specifically mentioned Hasbro will never reissue them. Takara has reissued Megatron and Galvatron as well though Reissue Galvatron has a more cartoon accurate color scheme than the original release and I believe they gutted the electronics so it's not really the same expereience as the vintage Galvatron. Megatron seems unchanged from his original release so you'd never know the difference between the original and the reissue if you saw them loose.

    I would it have put Megatron that high.
    His toy is atrocious.
    But in general I agree with the placements.
    I would have put Runabout, Runamuck and Scourge in flea market. Even as a kid I thought they were trash.

    I kind of wonder where you'd rate the really obscure toys, such as Enemy, from the AM Radio and Headset; and Freezon, from the slot-car Electric racing Set, (Freezon was also sold individually.) Both are gloriously janky.

  • @PrincessMatrix
    @PrincessMatrix ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A few things I'd personally change.
    Battlechargers are definitely bottom tier. Pullback motor gimmicks are fine, but when tied into the transformation, that takes the fun out of it for me, even as a kid. Add in possibly degradation as time goes on, and yeah, it's definitely not that good.
    Long Haul and Divebomb would also drop a tier. They both feel like they exist solely to fill out the combined mode. As individual figures, they're both rather lacking
    Octane really doesn't feel like it should be as high as it is. While a triple changer is inherently ambitious, every mode really doesn't feel that good.
    The stunticons have the same problem as the Aerialbots of feeling too samey to me. Dragstrip aside, it feels like the same toy three times. While I can understand them being average tier, their lack of variety would put them at the bottom of mid.

  • @DarthBoardBVE
    @DarthBoardBVE ปีที่แล้ว

    I am truly astonished that Runabout and Runamuck did not wind up in the bottom tier. Between the fact that 1) Jumpstarters did auto transform better the year before, 2) The terrible flat, unarticulated door arms, 3) the fact that the transformation scheme was so simplistic and unimpressive it was used (without the auto transformation) on cheap mini bots the next year (with the Throttlebots coming off as better toys overall since they were smaller and less expensive), these two toys were just plain awful.
