I had a problem with the headlights getting water in them early last winter a year ago. When I say water I mean about half a cup or more just in one headlight, but both were getting water in them. No way I could afford just one from BMW, much less two. It took about three days to dry them out after removal. I considered just replacing the lenses but instead went to the local auto parts store and bought a couple tubes of FLOWABLE WINDSHIELD SEALANT. The stuff almost flows like water into cracks and crevices. I carefully applied it all the way around the headlight lenses both and reinstalled them. It flowed well enough that it can't be seen. I also installed both new modules and new headlight bulbs because one burned out from being wet. Just a bit back I began getting the same messages about the adaptive headlight malfunction again. I also notice I am getting another message about the headlight vertical leveling being inoperative. As I recall, I only gave about $50 or so each for the modules so they could have been inferior parts. I am getting the messages more often now so I guess I will get more modules. I love a video that provides details like this. Very helpful and entertaining. Good job!
Glad you liked it!
@@ThicGarage by change where did you purchase the modules?
This video has put me off troping it myself. Off to the garage I go!
😂
I agree you do not!! Need to remove the bumper. Just the bolts. I’m literally doing it now
Was the headlight actually working? My entire left headlight isn’t functioning
Was working but the adaptive piece was not when I would turn the wheel
Good video brother
What! That’s a long way of doing it, you can access the module by removing the plastic trim near the wheel, same way if your changing the headlight bulbs. My angle eyes stopped working and that’s what I had to do
What year? My '15 with LED adaptive needs to be done by removing the headlight, there is not space to remove the module because it hits on the frame.. different then the video.
How did you manage to take the tms out without removing the wheel or headlight? I can’t access the second screw from the hatch in the wheel well
It was 2010 and m sport,
O have been told by a mechanic that you have to have a dealer do this because it has to be coded to your car. Is this true.
Any import auto service center can code them. Doesn’t need to be a BMW dealer. I had my friend code mine at his service center
Queue that intro! Nice!
Driver and passenger side are the same?
Yes
Good stuff Soto! Video was very helpful! TY! 👍 Just noticed the heavy duty seals on the suggested modules from your link.
Do your headlights still auto level and swivel? I bought an eBay module and it didn’t work for me. I’ll try your link. Thanks man
Seems to be working. I read some ppl had to get new module coded after install.
ThicGarage I heard the same too. I just bought the module that you linked so hopefully it will work. Fingers crossed
Before you buy a new set you may want to try and fix this by taking to a certified BMW mechanic, Dealer or you can call the guys at BimmerTech and they can code for you remotely. You would need a laptop and wired OBDII ENET cable
ThicGarage do you know if it will cost anything to have it coded by bimmer tech
@@david_vash I'm sure they charge a fee but not sure how much.
So close to 1K! 👍✌️
You could change it without removing the headlight
Aaaayyyyyyyeeeeeeeee Que that intro!!!!!!!!! Money!!! Great video!
Thank you. Samething happen to me yesterday. Just ordered the part.
Did it work? By any chance did your LEDs go out too. Mine are out .. not sure if the module will fix that too ?
@@rubeng8128 Yeah that fixed it. Switched it out myself and took it to my local bwm to get reprogram
@@iGoatonPS Nice !! I'm going to buy it then and cross my fingers I have the same luck you had ! Thank you !
@@rubeng8128 did you fix it?
@@iGoatonPS no didn't work for me unfortunately
Dude module is under the headlight, you can replace it through the inner wing side !
Why didn't you just pull the wheel linner?
Did u had to recode them ?
After a few days the warning came back and had to take them to get coded

Great video I love that thank you so so much brother bmw ask me $800 to fix that that’s BS I got the same problem on my 2013 BMW X6 where you buy that from CAN YIU GIVE ME INFO PLEASE
Thank you! Link should be in the description but it’s for the 535
You dont need to code the module? Just plug it and is that works?
They need to be coded for full functionality. Mine seemed to work and warning went away but the aiming didn’t work. Needs to be coded
So the malfunction error pops back up on the a dash few days after install until it’s coded?
Yes for me I did so I could have the aiming function to work.
@@ThicGarage bummer I’m not so crazy about the actually function working more than i wish the error code was not on dash.
I’m a teenager but just got my grandparents given to me as my first car, it is a 2011 bmw 535i it has 5900 miles on the dash everyone says that’s good for this car, is a 2011 bmw 535i the same as a F10? Just curious
The sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series consists of the BMW F10 (sedan version), BMW F11 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring') and BMW F07 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') executive cars. The F10/F11/F07 was produced from 2009 to 2017[5]and is often collectively referred to as the F10.
i order a brand new one put it in no code after 20 min driving it show up the same thing again
Damn! You have to do alot for the headlight fix. I think Ill go to a mechanic.
You must have a lot of 💵💵💵
Thanks having this problem with my f80 heard from others it could be the Control module so will be replacing it. Thanks Again
Should I replace both or just driver side
I washed my car and wet the wheel well now my left and right turn signals are freaking out and my daytime running lights are not really coming on if I replace the module will it fix everything?
I would check them first for moisture and try to let them dry if so. OEM have a protective film over the module so you may be able to salvage them. You can also remove tire and access the module from behind wheel well.
What if you replace all of it and still doesn’t work
Just remove the wheels for changing modules mate, no need yo remove the bumper..
Same way for the f31?
this replacement module will soon break down because it does not have a waterproof coating like in the original
I’ve been wondering about this
After I replace the module, do I need to have a dealer reset the error codes because thats what all the mechanics are telling me.
Yes the modules need to be coded
Did anyone see how to clear the error messages after the work was done ?????????
No programming the new modules?
Started having issues a cpl days later again and took to my local German service center and they coded
no coding required?
Some years do require coding some not. If coding is needed, you can get coded by taking to a certified BMW mechanic, Dealer or you can call the guys at BimmerTech and they can code for you remotely. You would need a laptop and wired OBDII ENET cable
There’s always a way!
Welp..off to pay someone to do this cause..uh uh
Got it, so remove 47 screws, change out 2 sensors.. my god I’m so sick of my X5. Anyone want it?
You can also access it from behind the wheel well
I would not own a BMW they are garbage when u fix one problem another starts .There junk
What was the point of the Mercedes in the middle of the intro? Get that outta here. Lol
Evans C300, haven’t done many videos on it because he plans on upgrading to a C63 AMG
BMW S are the worst car you can buy .They ride nice and good performance .But they break down like no other and why anybody in the world would own is beyond me.
You didnt need to do this. Coding would have been sufficient
What you need to do instead of making a video about that you need to change those gnarly brake rotors you got on there 😢👎
Messages are gone, and all system ok???…Why you didn’t bother to showed it on the video, maybe because the messages were still there???…Liar…
