A very well done and informative segment. I enjoyed listening to the people interviewed and especially Mike Smith, my all time favorite jockey. I think high expectations for this filly would be a severe understatement. I hope she gets a fitting name. I look forward to more captivating segments and profiles from TDN. Great work.

@@annettekingerski1217 Thanks for the info but I don't particularly like the name. I prefer Songarra or Arrobird. But hey, best of success on the track with ARRUBIRD. It can be pronouced in different ways. That will be interesting to hear.
@@annettekingerski1217 according to the JC, Songbird's 2019 filly is still unnamed; beware of pedigreequery.com, it's usually accurate, but it's like Wikipedia, anyone can put in anything, accurate or not
As I found, her name is Song Gate. She never raced and has already been retired at 3yo, sadly
Such a gorgeous girl, hope she has a long & successful life. Her mum is a lovely mare too. They look so happy together. So sorry that arrogate is no longer with us, he was such a lovely boy. R. I. P.
I'd love to see more recent photos of this filly. In hindsight, how amazing is it that Songbird had the chance to produce a foal by him? Glad they moved forward with the plans. This filly looks great!
That is one freakin' gorgeous foal. Mandy hasn't gotten much out of her elite band of equine princesses, so here's to hoping this will be the one to change that.

@@annettekingerski1217 why not? stallions can have hundreds, even as many as over a thousand foals, the only thing which separates them, is what's on the bottom, the mare's influence

Arrogates numbers probably were close to Secretariat, one of the greatest. What a great horse. So sad he’s gone. Hopefully his legacy moves on in his offspring.

She's beautiful just like her Mom and Dad.I don't understand why its a big deal if it's the maiden of 2 parents the genes are the genes,that doesn't change with experience.This little lady is truly Racing Royalty and she has big hooves to fill.Even if racing isn't her thing this beautiful baby will be a Very Valuable Broodmare because of her pedigrees.I sure hope she has the talent i would love to see Big Money Mike winning some big race's on her,it's only fitting being he road Songbird and Arrogate to greatness.CONGRATULATIONS TO MOM AND DAD,SHE'S BEAUTIFUL.💜💜💜🐎🐎🐎.Even though she's beautiful just the way she is i kind of hope she turn's her Daddy's color,cause it's so Beautiful.💜
It's common that maiden mommas tend to have a smaller foal their first time. Then her pretty lil gate filly!!
julie hertz - Since her Daddy is grey, unfortunately, he will eventually lose most of that beautiful dark coloration, and just be white. I hope she stays a beautiful dark bay like her Momma. 😉
Either way, I hope we get to follow her as she grows up. Both her parents have beautiful conformation, AND are well bred. She should be something special!!! ❣️

I was at Saratoga when he won the Travers! As a professional horse player and owner, breeder, not one horse IMO beats him that day! His Ragozin number was neg1, which is something even the great Big red did! RIP, Arrogate you were amazing!
Yes,and as soon as they implemented in competition testing for breeders cup the next year he wilted like an end of summer flower....
@Simon the 1st IN COMPETITION testing started in summer prior to Del Mar Breeders Cup that Gun Runner won..
@Simon yes and he MAGICALLY ran down Gun Runner in Dubai....and as soon as there was in competition testing he lost to Gun Runner by a country mile. That's what im talking about...

1:17 the Dubai race was a disgrace for the organizers, it was unfair for Arrogate when when Emirate jockeys deliberately bumped to him in the beginning of the race to obstruct him which make him the last one with 10 lengths from the gunrunner , but even though, Arrogate beat them easily

3:00 - and yet, despite that praise of her conformation, for some undisclosed reason, she was not raced (not even ever put into training, as far as I know...has she ever even been ridden? who knows), and merely turned around to the breeding shed

What a big, beautiful foal! Where is she now? The comments made here could also apply to the breeding of Bolt d'Oro to great champion Beholder. Beholder had a couple of previous foals, but by proven stallions. Bolt d'Oro doesn't seem to fit Beholder. Anyway, Rest in Peace, dear Arrogate. Enjoy the ladies for all eternity.

@@raquel6205 Yes, this is Arrogate's first mating as a stud. Usually they like to breed a horse that has never been bred to an experienced mare if it is a stud, or an experienced stallion if it is a mare's first time. Maiden, simply means never been bred for the mare, and never "covered" a mare by the stud/stallion.

You've got to be kidding. They would never, ever breed Songbird to CC with his pedigree, NEVER.
@@sharedancestors 100% agree which is why they probably sent him to Japan. And CC also had competition, by the name of American Pharoah who already has a Breeders Cup Champion (Four Wheel Drive). Not to mention other sires like Tapit, Into Mischief, Uncle Mo, etc etc. CC was a once in a lifetime horse on the track even his own full siblings can't even win more than 2 races. If breeders did use CC as a sire they would be wasting their money. Arrogate isn't a proven sire yet but I'll gamble my money that his pedigree is WAY better than CC

If i had gobs of money, i’d go to the sales and get my hands on one of those magical babies and just keep him or her, all for myself. Wouldn’t that bug people out!! If he or she could jump, i’d take it to horse shows as a jumper. That would be so fun. No i’m not a nut bag, just using my imagination during this stupid pandemic! 😜
Many thoroughbreds who don’t make it as racehorses are often resold and schooled as jumpers so it’s very possible
