- Part 1 and 2 come from home movies on VHS tape of the Payzant family and friends during the mid-80s. Most of the buggies in our group are second generation sand rails that I built at my shop in Huntington Beach. I used Hi Jumper frames, modified VW engines and transmissions. Wheels where bought from Sand Tires Unlimited in Santa Ana. Jim Faulkner took this video.
God those were the days to be in glamis ! I started going to glamis in 1975 . Back when comp hill was steep so were the rest of the dunes ! Didn't have all the yuppies and LEO back in those days !!! Riding a 250r atc back in the 80s !
Thanksgiving of 1985 was my 1st trip to Glamis Sand Dunes. I had an '84 KX250 dirtbike and my friends had 3 wheelers. One had a Suzuki street bike engine in his 3 wheeler and it was pretty fast. My first introduction to Comp Hill, Oldsmobile and China Wall. Best memories I have to date. Thanks for uploading these.
