  • Most people don't know this, but Nina and I actually met because she saw me on my Rebel 1100 and started talking to me about how she's always wanted to learn how to ride. Fast forward a year later and we finally got to go on our FIRST ride together!
    We've ridden "together" plenty of times, but never with her riding one bike and me riding another. This was SUCH a cool experience cruising on my Honda Grom and seeing her cruising with me on her Honda Navi, and as you can imagine, her adrenaline was through the roof! haha
    We can't wait until the day I'm cruising on the Rebel 1100 and she's next to me on her Rebel 300!

      Man this comment and Burch saying he didnt want to use them on this ride is kinda surprising to me. My wife also got her license recently, and she has a thousand questions about what she needs to do or should be doing every time we ride. Like should she slow down for an upcoming turn, should she upshift/downshift, etc. I cant imagine the extra stress I would have being behind her and not being able to provide little pointers here and there

    I'm loving it. Reminds me of seven years ago when I got my wife into riding. I surprised her with a Grom (I had a DRZ400SM) and we puttered up and down the street and around the neighborhood for weeks, learning the basics like friction zone and starting, stopping smoothly, stopping fast and safely, tight turning, counter steering, shifting gears and so on. Was a ton of fun, and helped her prep for the MSF course and test (which she passed).
    It's so much fun riding with her even though she likes to go slow. Communication through intercoms is a must though once you start going longer than just puttering around the neighborhood.

    We got my wife a navi and have gone on a couple short rides. It is a great feeling to have her rolling around with me now 😁. She had a slip on our suzuki tc 120 when I was trying to teach her how to ride a couple years ago in our yard. She has been iffy about manual bikes so the navi is a great option for for now and maybe move up to something bigger when she gets more comfortable.

    You guys have a good thing going, it's nice to see bikes brining people together =) May want to remind her that warning isn't for fun, but for objects that aren't apparently visible for those behind you, new riders like to focus on those little tasks, which should be something you pick up later on, instead of learning the bike. As a beginner, novice, or neophyte rider, concentrating on the road is far more important, especially with an experienced rider behind you. Also, when the option is there...comms always! It can save a new riders life...Love what you're doing here, both of you! :D can't help but smile! I was kind of "thrown into the deep end" with a family that all rode, and learned my lessons the hard way over 30 years, would have been nice to have some instruction at the start

    I'm lucky enough to have a wife who not only is totally okay with me riding, but likes to ride pillion with me and even decided she'd like her own bike. Her only rule when I wanted a second bike is it had to be better for a passenger than my Sprint ST, which you'd think would have a great seat as a touring bike but passenger seat was apparently an afterthought, it's so high up she needs a step stool to get on, and it''s so far back most of her weight is actually behind the rear axle, which makes the steering very twitchy and the front end wants to leave the ground under even moderate acceleration. We tried to take the MSF together this spring as a fun thing, but they had no bikes she could flatfoot at 5'0" and the instructor wasn't the best so she almost wanted to give up until we went over to the Honda dealer across the street from the class and had her sit on a Rebel 500. Once she saw that there are bikes that fit her she was like "okay, let's really do this" so as soon as I was able to find an ABS model in green we snagged it and she's been doing parking lot practice since, also taking her time but we're just about ready to do rides together on the street like this. Just gotta keep practicing and soon she'll be acing that MSF course.

    The Navi has a 0.9 gallon tank and a mpg of 132.6 so not bad other than it having a carburetor 👍 best to use unleaded Ethanol for the bike it has some protection against the engine sputtering also I bought a new carburetor which is why I said a 132.5 mpg difference also major speed difference I can get a top speed of 62 mph switched the throttle and the best thing I found out is that you have to fill it up higher than the average of 0.756 I filled it up to 0.923 and major difference also I changed the brakes to hydraulic and made the speedometer LED and added front suspension also the heavier you are the slower the acceleration is so if you wanna hit 62 mph be 165-175 lbs and you’ll get that difference with the government tax and fees plus the bike and all the mods it costed me $3,347 so this can be a nice little moped/scooter if you put the work in.

  • @MotoDash1100
    @MotoDash1100 ปีที่แล้ว

    3:01 Yeh, so, I learned this in the MSF, you want to blip the throttle a lottle bit before a bump (speed bump or otherwise) because you have more travel from the forks that way.
    Under braking the front forks I guess depress a little bit, and under acceleration the forks aren't depressed, so more travel in them to absorb bumps without (or before) passing it all to the controls/your hands.

    About the significant other riding. My wife says its dangerous and I ought to stop. Altho never says I can't go or buy a bike or that I should sell any of my bikes. Leaves the final decision to me. She never rides with me cause "if we both get killed who will take care of the kids" .. so I get that. Also her brother almost got killed on a bike and spend more then a year in the hospital, so I get that she's a little paranoid. But I would never say that this thing - riding a bike/ not wonting to ride one - has to mean that we cant be a good couple. :P I think It starts being a problem when the different points of view on the matter start coming between you.

    Did she start (learn) on the navi first or the 300? I learned on a grom and passed my msf on one but I’m not a fan of shifting. Wish they made a rekluse for the grom - cuz my issue is more stalling. Looking at automatics. Very tempted on the navi but i hate the specs of it. Love the storage and CVT aspect of it. What does your girlfriend have to say about the specs of the navi? I’m curious if she will ever ride the grom - if so, I’d love to hear which one she likes better (navi or grom). But then again I’m curious to see if she likes the 300 better then the navi too.
    I think the navi is something good to learn on and familiarize yourself with. It serves a function. I just wish it had better specs like the grom. Why couldn’t honda make an automatic grom lol or DCT version?

    • @isaiahpost2877
      @isaiahpost2877 ปีที่แล้ว

      I want to say they bought the rebel 300 for Nina before they got the Navi. As far as shifting, the problem may be that you're on a grom? I took my MSF on a z125 really similar to the grom and really struggled with the clutch work. The smaller bikes have so little power they stall easier when letting the clutch out, so if that's all you've ridden i wouldn't let the clutch deter you from other bikes just yet.
      I have a cb300r myself and the difference between that clutch and the z125 is night and day.

    Nina is so sweet ! Take care of her. I can tell you do. Commit but don't get married.
