      Really depends on the song (even more than the band). For instance, you really enjoyed the interplay of the music and lyrics on "Evidence" in the FNM Slow Burn. But if I asked you to simultaneously listen/read "Cuckoo for Caca" from the same album...well...I'd prefer your compositional/engineering analysis to a linguistic deconstruction of "Shit lives forever!" 😅

    When my mother died about ten years ago, a song from slayer was my go-to to evacuate my sorrow and rage. "Divine Intervention". Singing it is so liberating! Not because of the topic but, like you would say, because of it's energy.
    "No mercy...
    No reason...
    JUST PAIN!!!"

      @Bmetalful ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a good and bad thing. Kerry King has 1 speed and 1 tone. It just so happens that it's an awesome speed and tone, but if you've heard one slayer song made in the last 25 years you've heard them all. The lyrics are also 6th grade level. I grew up on Slayer but they never truly evolved into anything great. Just my 2 cents.

    • @mikeisgettinupset
      @mikeisgettinupset ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dunno about that one. God Hates Us All was different. it was still awesome, but definitely not the traditional Slayer thrash

    • @Bmetalful
      @Bmetalful ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikeisgettinupset Ya that's true, I think Rick Rubin the fraud was trying to make their sound more commercial. It did sound that way but the lyrics were way over the top for mainstream so that will never work.

    • @The_Masked_1der
      @The_Masked_1der ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bmetalful if I wrote the lyric, "you've got a fucking catheter in your brain,pissing your common sense away," in grade 6, I'd have been pretty stoked hahaha.. I mean, sure the rest of that songs lyrics aren't exactly gonna make intellectuals cream themselves with clever wordplay or thought provoking topics, but when your lyrics say, "I'm going to tear your fucking eyes out, rip your fucking flesh off, beat you til you're just a fuckin lifeless carcass, you were meant to take the fall, now you're nothing! ...payback's a bitch motherfucker!", they kinda don't need to be.. they just bludgeon you to death with raw simplicity, just like the person he's talking about in the song lol..😗👌

    This was the title track of their latest and final album. The song was written for one of their founding members, Jeff Hanneman, who passed away in 2013. The lyrics do a very good job describing Jeff's relationship with the music industry and thoughts o. being in a hugely successful band. He was a very private guy who really didn't care about anything but the music and the fans.

    I give you a lot of credit Mr. Geebz for reviewing this song. This song reminds me of the song Angel of Death from their 1986 album Reign in Blood. The lyrics are shocking but one must remember that the band members have admitted that they do not worship Satan and they do this for fun.
    Slayer was influenced by not just by Thrash Metal but by Punk Rock which focuses on subjects like rebellion and civil disobedience. Yet at the same time Slayer is different because it has instrumental solos which Punk Rock lacks.

    hmmmmm thrash metal ahhhhhhhhhh. If my personality was a music genre. It explains a lot, i know. It's about the rawness of the tone and topics. There's a song by them called angel of death about Josef Rudolf Mengele a SS C*nt. It kinda makes you stare at the horrible things he did, like a nauseating history lesson.
    If you could add the lyrics to the video then we all can follow the bouncing ball.
    In your suggestion vid i was talking about how my uncle died... well today i got to keep his music collection. It is crazy how someone you know liked a lot of the same music. Like Chopin. At the same time if you listen to all their music it paints a clear picture of the person.... that maybe no one could really know.

    I haven't watched this reaction yet but I don't think this is a good idea with this song. The video is so powerful in its imagery that I don't see how you can read the lyrics and take in the video at the same time. As I am writing this I see that you are not watching the video so what I just said does not apply. The fact that you did not put the lyrics on the screen for your audience is very disappointing. Now can I suggest watching the video, it tells the story perfectly and it is very intense...
