The Mongoose, which is a bigger and faster cousin of the Meerkat, lives under constant threat from predators and changing weather whilst also raising a family.

It's touching to see how mongooses value family. Odu still didn't abandon his responsibility despite the very high risk, he is a legend. RIP Odu

Omg I died when the narrator said “emergency repairs” after the rainfall was going to collapse the walls, and you see Odu and the others literally fixing them with their hands like legit little repair-men. Cutest thing I’ve ever seen. These little creatures truly are clever and mesmerizing to watch. 🫶🏻
Thank goodness for the mongoose protecting the baby mongoose and glad his eyes opened. The matriarch mongoose searching for her partner who lost his life trying to rescue a baby and both lost their lives is heartbreaking. R.i.P Beautiful mongooses 🌈♥️

Toku’s responsibility towards Keysu almost made me tear up. That was honestly remarkable! Even these tiny creatures know TEAMWORK!

@@zabsmongzar9502 Oh but he has, he is now Dr Kisu. He helps Warthogs and other species alike, by detecting and removing parasites, egg larvae, fleas, ticks, etc... That would otherwise make them very sick and if left untreated even cause death. Being sick or injured in the wild is pretty much a death sentence. Dr Kisu also makes antivenom from the snakes he catches.
What a great documentary. I know nothing about mongoose and now I know how they survive in a world of huge predators. This documentary was 10 out of 10

Despite Odu's heroic attempt to save his kid in distress, which cost his life. I still root for Toku, the hunter extraordinaire, who single handedly raised and protected Kisu the blind youngster to maturity against all odds. Toku for the top seat.

This is how people should be in this world. Some people are completely oblivious to the dangers that we encounter. We are prey as much as hunters. From what i've learned & experienced and shared with my daughter's and other people, they think i'm paranoid. I say, i'm always on guard and aware of my surroundings. If i had eyes around my head, i wouldn't miss a thing. Incidently, i love this story. It's about how this species takes care of their family and does watever it takes to do so.

Omg I love them all. Toku is a good meerman. I never would have guessed them to be so similar to humans and elephants in caretaking. It's pretty remarkable. They're a very impressive little squad of Timons.
How Could you get it so confused Mongoose and Meerkats are two different species. This Documentary is about Mongoose. Timon is a Meerkat and Pumba is a Warthog, incase you thought he was a Wild boar pig. Narrator even says at the beginning, that Mongoose are Bigger, faster, Smarter, and braver than Meerkats. 🤦♂️
The wild dogs are the same, they are very social and care for the sick and weak like we do.
My apologies but this is due to my deepest heartbreak upon the loss of three, especially the heroic death of daredevil Odu.
Its like Odu's spirit opened Kesu's sight as he was destined to be the next Alpha male mentored by a great master hunter, Toku.
What a great real plot!

There are few programs on utube that I'm willing to watch any ads, as some have way too many and have stolen someone else's hard work, all they did was remove tv commercials and post it to utube !
I am very greatful to the hardworking cameraman/ woman and the time they have taken to show us the beautiful animals in their natural habitat, awesome job! Very well done! What an incredible documentary, one so patiently put together viewers cannot avoid becomming emotionally attached. One of the best I've seen for ages. So production team, where is the follow up, we patiently await for more news of 'our' family please!

Odu died trying to save others. My God
Toku risked for Kisu. And thanks to him, Kisu survived tough times.
The behaviour of these little animals is a massive lesson to human beings.
When the Eagle snatched the baby, and the Narrator insinuated that it was most probably Kisu, I was like Nooooooo why did you guys have to give him a name and storyline, making us root for him, just to suddenly have him gone. It was such a relief when I saw his tiny little head with eyes closed, poking out of the den. You guys did that on purpose lol I know in the wild, it's survival of the fittest and the circle of life for predator and prey, but when Odu died trying to save his baby, that also died, it was the first time a wildlife documentary has actually made me sad. 10 out of 10 effort.
Thankyou to all the people involved with bringing me this video of these truly incredible animals.
Despite their physical vulnarability, it is heartwarming how the adult mongoose keep giving care and nursing to the young round the clock

I always loved these guys since I was a child. The definition of fortitude. Despite what majority is mislead by folklores by these" balancers" they are impressive.

It’s incredible how Toku takes care of the blind baby mongoose.
Between the Mongooses and the Honey Badgers both can hold their ground with massive poisonous snakes. I'm amazed at their quickness and spirit to survive amongst bigger prey. Just outstanding!!! 🤔🤓👍

Not matter how many Nature/Wildlife documentaries I watch - & I'm 61 now [2023] - so that's a whole heck of A Lot!! I Never get tired or bored watching and learning New information every single time!
But.... there's certain critters have something 'special' - maybe it's camera appeal or seeing a reflection of Humanity (although, invariably, there are No other Species on/off the Earth, that are So Greedy, So Cruel or So Wasteful !)
Such is the case with these, Funny, Smart, Brave, Excitable, Frantic, Silly, Sensible, Kind, Patient, Resilient, Lovable; and on! and on! Until the adjectives for them run out !
The Wonderful Story presented in this Documentary Film, would not be believed if it were a Disneyesque type Movie!

Key-Sue (phonetic spelling) MADE IT!!! If not for Torco I don't think he would have. And now his eyes are open which is wonderful! RIP Odu running to save a baby. Poor Ela, I know she will choose wisely her next mate. I know this is the circle of life. I really do find the bond of Torco and Key-Sue interesting though! I wonder if there is another more recent film/update on this particular band?

The similarities between the hierarchial structure of the mongoose clan and a Hells Angels chapter are amazing.

Super video. It’s so nice that the Mongooses aren’t as cold blooded as some humans. Where the Family is important as 1 Unit. They take care of the Weak,and survive because of this. It’s interesting to see the Forest elephants and how they react with the Mongooses. They are much smaller than the Savanna or Plains elephants and live where there’s much vegetation. Thanks for sharing. We humans can learn a lot from Nature.

Fascinating that the blind runt survived. I guess it must be clever. He learned by necessity the value of teamwork and sticking close to the family. He also will have keen ears.

A lot of it was having that older one look out for him. I knew that very few species actually expended effort & time to look out for their lame & weak (like humans & elephants) but was surprised to learn that mongooses are among that few as well. Most other fierce, fast moving species would leave them behind because they'd slow them down or make them more vulnerable.
The use of extra effort may also be related to their lifestyle too. Since the main strategy is to immediately dive into their burrows for protection, they may be able to expend extra effort because of the short distance(I believe) they are typically away from them.
Did you miss Toku the male that took care of the runt? Fed him, kept him safe, and rescued the little blind runt countless times. Without Toku the runt would have been eaten long ago.

Thank you for this video! I've always been intrigued by mongooses (mongeese...?) but documentaries featuring them are surprisingly rare given their fame as small but fierce predators.
Mongooses and mongeese are both acceptable although mongooses is more commonly used.
