  • African wild dogs are the most successful hunters in Africa. Their attacks succeeded 85% of the time. So much so a massive pack plan a deadly assault on one of Africa's most powerful animals, the buffalo. A team of dedicated researchers follows several wild dog packs as they track their movements, monitor habits, and record their hunting techniques.

I have to say this was one of the most amazing wildlife documentaries I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot).
I have no idea how you guys were not only able to follow the dogs thru all the rough , uneven , thick Bush terrain on your motor bikes, but also manage to get that footage actually viewable - no shaky camera focus bouncing all over the place- the drone footage was spectacular.
Great job to all involved in this documentary.
Hope you guys continue doing this to spread awareness and educate the rest of the world.

These are my favorite pack hunting species. African wild dogs, also referred to as Painted dogs or Cape hunting dogs are really remarkable.
They are 100% cooperative. They don't fight or squabble at a kill. Being one of the smallest of Africa's apex predators, they can't afford to be caught off guard by hyenas or lions.
They kill swiftly, eat swiftly, leave the kill site quickly, and share meals with pups and babysitters, as well as old or injured pack members.
They are THE most efficient mammalian pack hunters on the planet. Nothing else comes close except for Dholes in India. (Ironically, these are their closest living canine relative, as wild dogs are in a genus all of their own. Lycaon).
I saw comments made about their killing method being gruesome or the worst way to go. In actuality, prey species go into shock as they are being consumed or eviscerated. Death is usually extremely swift. Under a minute.
It looks bad, but it is soon over.
I think that overall, wild dogs could be summed up in one word, efficiency. What they lack in size compared to lions, hyenas, leopards, cheetahs, and crocodiles, they make up for in determination, cooperativeness, efficiency, and unity.
The bikes were really awesome. What a great tool toward filming and studying the pack. Acclimating wild dogs to dirt bikes for observation is pretty shrewd.
The footage is so revealing. And the drone accompaniment was excellent. I really enjoyed this documentary.
    Kudos!

@@mansoormannix1753 i can understand why people demonized and killed them on sight, much like wolves and coyotes. Its a horrible thing to see when they catch prey. Thankfully , because of documentaries like this, we're learning more about them; their place as keystone predators and understanding that we shouldn't judge them using our rules.

    • @leacebee5892
      @leacebee5892 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@mattmarkus4868 unfortunately humans did indeed kill wolves on site- wiping them out in many areas in the last century. They were seen as evil monsters because they eat animals alive. Thankfully, as I mentioned above, we're learning about ecosystems and how important predators are in keeping everything in harmony. Also realizing that we can't judge their behaviour by our rules. Their rule is simply survival.
I don't know why you find the dogs disgusting but that's your opinion. I find them fascinating animals with a rare bond with their pack that sees injured and old pack members bring cared for; a rare occurrence in wildlife

I love wild dogs. Their a pack predator who actually take care of their own. Even the pack leaders are submissive at times. Many kills are stolen by larger carnivores but with their success rate they just kill again. I’ve never understood why large packs of other carnivores leave their pups unattended. As strong and dominate as lions are even when they could spare a lioness to guard pups they don’t. They don’t share meals with members not at the kill. Their pups are killed off by lesser carnivores because they are left unguarded and vulnerable. The sharing system is what makes them so successful. Hyenas and even lions to an extent use each others strength and strength in numbers but at meal time they’re ruthless to one another especially hyenas.

Absolutely shocked they’d attempt an attack a heard of Buffalo. They’d have to completely separate a calf. Doesn’t seem worth it when they have such an array of prey they can run down. Leave the buffalo and that risk to the lions. I don’t believe that was a heartfelt hunt. Stamina is their strength not power

Life must be hard for an impala, to many species wild dogs, cheeters, crocodiles lions etc which want to have you for breakfast, lunch or dinner. But you just want to eat your grass in peace.

good video, i enjoyed it but at some points you guys were getting close to the kills and also your bikers at some points where riding Infront of some members of the pack while they were hunting which interferes with the hunt.

It also frightens the game prematurely. They justfy it by saying they're "pursuit predators", but the Wild Dogs were failing half their hunts with the bikes around; at least the footage was good.

true points....it causes a lot lot disturbance in their hunting stragety...though they are the most successful hunters in wildlife but some time somewhere their hunting moments gets out of hand which could be very effective for their family coz of their presence n disturbance by humans...

i like this documentary a lot but i gat to say the bike needs to be further behind because it cost wild dogs as the bikes were in the serenity of their hunting and interfering in the strategy

Pecking order always happens in big units of animals like predators have the alpha carnivores who lead & vegetarian species like elephants or buffalo in packs.
