I got here after rewatching the Techmoan video about a (rather apalling) reproduction of the Mikiphone. After the horribly scratching coming out of that one it is astounding to hear how nicely the original item works and how good the sound quality is.
I believe it was made in the early 20th century, and it probably plays 78rpm records. Which means that if you somehow found one in good condition, it would probably be quite expensive.
