We are being in the middle of December with the spirit of festive season. In the meanwhile, it is also the time for us to look back our garden and have some highlights of our last growing season. In this video I just want to compile all the footages of peonies blooming in the spring of this year. Part 1 will be all about woody (tree) peonies. In the cold and darkness of the winter, hope everyone enjoys it. Thanks for watching! Cheers! Please find link below for part 2&3. @@smallbackyardfunThe bloom looks gigantic compared to your palm! Looks to be 8 inches across or even larger! Would you mind sharing where to get this?
@@ntang4922 yeah, bloom size is around 7-9 inches, if you are in North America then keep an eye on Adelman peony website (available in some years, the other is not), or go to American peony society website, you will see they list all reputable vendors where to buy good peonies
Thank you! Most of my woody peonies are pretty young, in this video they are in range from 2 to 4 year-old plants, I am living in zone 8a, BC, Canada, the winter is mild but very wet. Hope that helps!
@@lizbest86 that ’s the big jump for the climate zone. I think your woody peonies will take some advantages from the higher zone for sure, nevertheless I hope that all your peonies could be growing well in their new home!
Hi, planting tree peony is not hard at all. You just find a good location with 4-6 hours of direct sun light and the soil has to be well-drained. Dig the big hole and dump some compost and bone meal in there, if you buy grafted tree peonies, just remember to bury the top of your soil above 6 inches from the grafted point to help the tree peonies develop their own root and to eliminate the sucker from the herbaceous root. Tree peonies and peonies generally don’t need a lot of water, so just water when the soil is really dry.
Just found your channel and subscribed! Your peonies are beautiful! Mine are still very young and have yet to bloom. I hope I will get some blooms this year (3rd year)! Do you also have an Instagram account?
Thanks for your kind words! My peony garden is still young, I have been collecting peonies 5 years recently, so most of my peonies are below 5-year old plants. By the time, I have a critical experience when collecting peonies is to buy good roots from authentic well-known vendors from recommendation of American peony society or Canadian peony society. The roots have to be big enough and generally have 3-5 eyes for a good start. And yes I do have an Instagram, please follow as below: instagram.com/small_backyard_fun?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= I also hope your peonies will bloom this year, please share when blooming!
@@smallbackyardfun Thank you for sharing your tip about buying bareroot peonies! I will make sure to keep that in mind. I will also head over to Instagram and will follow you there as well. 😊 Thank you!

You have a wonderful collection! Can you please share how old your woody peonies are and how cold your winters get, what zone you’re in if in the US?

Very similar to mine, zone 8a Alabama, also mild and wet winters. Just moved them from zone 4b Colorado over the last few years.

Amazing.. how long have you been gardening in this hone?
Thank you! Actually my garden is pretty young, I ‘ve been doing this garden from 2018 so just only 4.5 years!
Da li je teško uzgajati božur i koja prihrana se koristi. Kupila sam 5 ali ništa ne znam o njima. Gdje da ih posadim. Da li više na Sunce ili u sjenu?
