Hey folk! Wish you’re all doing well! We are officially going in February and still being away from Spring about 6 weeks, I know a lot of you guys are still under a thick layer of snow. So let’s cheer up our Winter days with a video of peony blooms at Adelman’s field in last Spring. This is part 2 of Adelman peony farm videos. If someone just wants to have a look at the part 1, I have a link to show as below. Hope everyone likes it. Thanks for your watching and support! Cheers! So beautiful, thank you for posting. Do you know why the soil is mounded up around the peonies? I was always told that no more than an inch or two of soil should be above the peony eyes.
Thanks for your compliment! You ‘ve been told correct. The eyes shouldn’t be deeper than 2 inches for any situations. The reason why you see most of the growers plant peonies in the mounded soil is for draining purpose, especially in PNW where we have a lot of rain, and you know peonies don’t like wet feet, they can be rotten easily if they sit too long in the soggy soil, but even in this case, the peony eyes are still under 1-2 inches soil from the top surface, if not, they wouldn’t be blooming. Hope that helps!
All the seedings are new hybrids and they are still in process of evaluation and probagation. I don’t think they have officially name right now, until they are registered with APS. OSVal stands for the parents name of seedlings, I guess they crossed between Old Soldier and Valkyrie to create the seedlings and called temporarily OsVal for short way and easy to remember where they came from.

Новые сорта удивительные. Интересно : что значит OSVal ? Какое название пиона ?
