я не плачу, это просто слёзы
Real music. I grew up in the best of times and didn't realize until now.
It was 1967 and I was in college. I had a special girl and we did like this song. We would close dance. Amazing how some things never leave your memory.
I was on my way to Viet Nam the second time, I made it back thanks God.
Bill did you carry a pistol back in the day?
Did your girl?
Good memories Bill, I guess !!
Vintage boomers
special girls never do
The vinyl records 33-1/3 on hand of Booker T. & The MG's are a treasure. When I hear Melting Pot version is a relaxation. Be young be fool be happy was a right reaction that 1970 time. Let's go again !
I was a very little kid when I got hip to this group. My baby-sitter was a teen and she would play this song as well as others. Great group and Booker T. "rest in peace, thank you for sharing a piece of yourself with the world."
Septia Woman this's the jam of the hour work it.
@septiawoman4333 Booker T isn't resting in peace yet. He's still making music! I just spent an evening rockin' to the Booker T Stax Revue, with Booker T on the Hammond B-3 organ and his son on guitar. What a night! June 21, 2024
Old school party, right here. I wanna put on my low waist bell bottom orange and white pants, my orange and white halter top, my big fro and black high platform shoes, the boggy to this tune...I still remember the dance to this song.
+Dianne Moore LOL then teach it to me. I only played it. Booker T exemplified soul IMO.
Dianne Moore
You go girl
Beat you by another color: had orange, white & green bells 8th grade. White boy then, ol' white man now. Lol.
One of the greatest instrumental songs by the legendary Booker T Jones, Steve Cropper, Al Jackson and "Duck" Dunn!
et Isaac Hayes(piano et orgue)
JONES CROPPER DUNN & JACKSON
This sounds so good in 2019
Yes it still does even after so many decades since it first came out....I remember the sixties! Like yesterday!
And in 2020
The previous releases by Booker T. & The MGs were much more interesting and a better definition of what the group was doing.
Even the crackle of the needle adds to the awesomeness of the sound. Thanks for sharing your juke!
I don't always listen to Booker T and the MG's but when I do , I'm groovin'.
Reminds me of childhood. My mom had the 45 of this song and green onions
GOD---Booker T Jones was BLOODY BRILLIANT & of course, the band were fantatstic.
From a mad keen 76yo Aussie fan.
I love this! I always loved this song. This instrumental version is excellent.
"A classic, timeless piece."
Great love making music!!! Always was, and always will be, too bad the young people of today don't know anything about this kind of music!!!!
1967 was just......there are no words. No adjective has been invented to describle this!
I remember listening to this with my fire team on the front bunker in Tuy Loan Village, RVN...as the sun went down. Where ever you guys are; God speed.
Was in country 5/67 to 5/68
The irony of it all is the great music that came out during the Vietnam period. May you life now be filled with peace and happiness.
Booker T & MG's Groovin set another dimension for this great song.
Hearing this song put a big smile on my face. I remember it well from my childhoold.
!967 was great year. Yes this was a sweet version.
Funny how fast rockin' blues was the thang with me and still is...but Booker T and his group were a fixture in my life for those mellow moments after work.
i remember it was in the early 70's when this great song airs....and i was a teenage runaway in manila....it was also when the rage was the 'for aduts only movies'....and this titillating song adds to the horniness of the time....
I love this version it takes me back to 8th grade at Our Lady of Lourdes elementary school in East Los Angeles
I love this posting with the jukebox dropping the record... it’s so very nostalgic and makes me feel happy! THANK YOU!!!!
Love the jukebox.
How could anyone not like this?

I LOVE THIS SONG THIS IS A TUNE FOR MY SOUL, AND MY SKATING JAM, THANK YOU FOR SHARING. I LOVE THE INSTRUMENTS.
A great version of the song.
My oldest brother was living then. Take me back!!!
This is one of the first tunes I learned when I started playing back in 1967.
I woke up @1:30 a.m. with "Groovin" by the Rascals. Well, I just had to hear it. I did over and I over and finally could get back to sleep...Groovin on a Sunday afternoon....
thanks again, from all the sad people here in Memphis, we've lost 2 founding members of the Stax/Volt, and Memphis Sound lately.....but luckily we have these great videos and tunes to enjoy for many yrs to com
Love it --- the Class of 1964 from Huntington Beach Union High School (The Oilers) approves of this video
Mellow and nice.....and oh that hammond sound.
This sound never will be forgotten.
I remember back in the 60's i barrowed this song from a friend, and i never gave it back to him , then i lost it and bought the lp' in the 70's, and i still have it i love this song.
11 yr. Old, discover booker t. Groovin . Played 45 1000 times. Actually still have it.
Head between speakers. Over and over. Every note is perfect.. Then time is tight.
Awesome. No words needed. Music that makes life beautiful.
Original by The Rascals.
"Grooving"
Released date: August 1967.
Thanks - it's a '78 Rock-Ola, which I've had since around '85. And being a retired electrical engineer, I've managed to keep her in fine fettle for all that time. I'm now retired to Thailand - and I containered her here with me. She sits in the living room.
what a wonderful time
A lot of artists have done this song.. i like the soul/funk .. aahhh the good days when people got along, and you could walk in the sunshine , with your sack ;) ,,, feelin' groovy ! ~~~~~~~~~
Beautiful Period. Blessings
I love this version of Groovin' ( originally by Felix and the Rascals, and Felix really plays the organ, too! ) But, also, it's Tight!
+Michael Haydn This is fine, but the one thing setting The Rascals' version above it is something Booker T. had no control over and that's not having Felix's great voice. Other than that, really good. (BTW, I like your brother's symphonies better than yours, but you wrote better Masses. Just sayin' : D)
Reminds me of my late Aunts 1967....R I P SWEET LADIES..💟💟 FOREVER N MY HEART..
A sound that will last forever.
Joyce Goodman you're good woman
AÑORO AQUELLA EPOCA......😢...... CON 19 AÑOS.................
No words to explain !
A first rate jam, it will forever be on-slam and on time!
I've not heard that song in fifty years. They never play it anymore.
I was 11 years old then. Life was something else then.
I've always loved this version!!! This is now part of my Driving Music CD collection! War's version is great, as well. Check it out!!!
Who said you cannot go back in ⌚⌚⌚⌚⌚
I'm there 1967 and I'm groovin🛵🚲☎️📻📺🎥
Goin back is easy coming back YEH that's the hardest 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀
I LOVE THIS SONG THIS IS MY SKATING JAM THANK YOU FOR SHARING.
My favorite from this great group!
This is what I personally feel to be the definitive rendition of this song, even though the Young Rascals originated it. I love their recording of this as well. But Booker T and MGs' recording of "Groovin'" is truly beautiful. The jukebox setup in this video looks to be home-made. Nice work. Thanks so much for posting.
I now find u that juke wicked WOOW WOW ALL THE GOOD HEART RIDDIM TUNE THANKS
Sweet soul music Michael Conley
I have a friend of mine who likes to buy and rebuild old juke box's . I have to say yours is very clean and I just love the mechanical's of the older box's !!! ^_^
Great sound, and a great song.....Thanks!
Brings you back to a time when things were more...innocent.... and good....
Except for that bit of bother way down yonder in Vietnam.
That's what I was going to say. Nothing was ever innocent. Unless you were blind and deaf. Just in case you forgot in 66 67 there was the vienam war going on and civil rights movement. There was nothing innocent about poor young black adults being drafted to a war abroad when they had a war on the streets of America in their own neighborhood. Stop being so naive people.
You made kareems point .
kareem453 Yeah....They certainly were...now 70... after all these years👏👏👏👏🇺🇸🦅✌️✌️✌️💪👍🆒 still
"Groovin"❗️❗️

Talk about a HIGH !!!!!!!!! Those were some the days...
Sure wish we had great instrumental songs like this in 2019 but I have not heard one in decades.
@Bengt HandlebarsI agree that I just cannot comprehend how some of our new generation that loves rap (whenever rap began) could find any musical value in since it appears that the people attempting to sing are not really singing but just going on an angry rant infused with so many colourful racial metaphors and the musician is committing audiophile blasphemy by manually reversing the turntable to create screechy sounds. It must be a generational thing that my brain cannot comprehend but that is just me. To each his own. I envision a frightful generation where music can be made by anyone with grunts and hisses and unintelligible lyrics but that is par for the course as we humans devolve into more primitive creatures rather than Evolve into more sophisticated musically and vocally talented artists. I also notice that so many men and women and teenagers are getting all types of tattoos on their bodies for some strange reason. Guess I am from a totally different generation where we protect what little we have, including our physical appearance. Just pondering.
Beautiful bass line
Listened to this mighty fine jam at fort Bragg n c basic training em club smitz beer.
Booker T was the pop soul version of Jimmy Smith. In the 60's the B3 organ was Queen and the Guitar was king. Today keyboard workstations are in control, with Guitar and organs in the low backup background. But they still rule in Classic Rock, Blues and Smooth Jazz.
