I hate to sound like a middle-aged man but I really appreciate the way people used to go out for dinner & entertainment and actually actively sat & listened to the performers! Now everyone would be on their phones either texting or filming something they'll never watch again.

Forget boomer, you sound like an idiot. Tons of folks still go out to a show and give their full attention.

All these people saying the "horns sound like shit". It's just a variation of the original piece with saxaphones guys. And even if it sounds off bc apparently music to you has to always sound like the *album version* , these are skilled players, and have good intonation and tune. Plus theres a nice variation bit at the end they added in that really breathes life into this old piece.

    • @VanessaFlores

Was on a cruise several years ago and one night the entertainment was songs from the 4 Seasons. The place was jam packed. Lots of people were willing to stand during the entire show also. We went to the first show of the evening, then went to dinner. Enjoyed the music so much that we decided to go back to the second show. Again, the theater was packed. People were singing along, loving every minute of the performance.
Theres just something special about their music.

We've taken her to Jersey Boys on Broadway three times over 2 years. She knows the lyrics of literally every Four Seasons/Frankie Valli song.

It really strikes my soul when I hear Frankie and the boys sing. In this movie, Christopher walken plays gyp DeCarlo. Ray (Gyp) was a good friend and boss of my grandfather Frankie "the buffalo" Sgambati. The stories he told me of these days, the golden age of Italian America...the sad part is as I watch my children grow, outside of my Jersey roots, I wonder how much of it will ever be thought of, or even remembered?

The biggest mistake in the movie soundtrack was they omitted this version and instead just put on the Broadway recording as-is. This arrangement is STELLAR, ESPECIALLY with the new orchestration for the horns. I also love JLY’s new take on the vocals that compliments the new music so much. It’s so rhythmic and weaving back and forth between him and the horns. He tapers off during the big shiny horn hits ( 1:56 OH….PRETTY…BABeh…**BYAHH DAHHH**) , then comes back in when their phrase ends, etc. Such a great musician himself, you can tell he studied these arrangements thoroughly to come up with this instead of just singing the Broadway vocals as written. I guess it was a one-off though, since this entire scene was filmed live without lip-syncing. That’s also probably why this arrangement is heard only on the movie, as you can see the musicians actually playing their instruments (drumming, correct stops on trombones, proper fingering on trumpets, etc.) instead of miming.
