Actually, black & white has its own charm. By colouring them, i think the charm will be lost simply becoz Guru Dutt used lighting (especially, but not only on faces) as a very important & integral part of his art direction. Only those black & white movies which show hill stations & locales like Simla, Kashmir, as an integral part of their movie, & which show nature, benefit from being transformed into colour.
