Pyaasa is one of the best films ever. Among other things it is known for its camera work, closeups and lighting. I think it has allowed for such brilliant colourisation. Even the skin tones, lamps, dresses look so authentic. Probably the best colourisation we have seen

Initially Guru Dutt sahab offered his role to Dilipkumar sahab. But he disagreed. But after watching the film and its minute details, Dilip sahab lamented for not accepting the role..

Superbly executed! All departments of song making came into perfect synergy to make this master piece.
This is not just a romantic duet song, it's indicative of what exactly transpires between them in the film.
Look at the picturisation! In the last, as the hero steps forward, his sweetheart steps back, and disappears into the heavenly wilderness from behind the screen! That screen is symbolic of the socio-economic barrier that exists between them. Very thoughtful of Guru Dutt as the Director.
Sahir saab's lyrics are so outstanding that it converted a simple duet into a situational song.
Every response of the lead actress is indicative of the fact that she would not entertain him!
Dada Burman's music is so excellent that words fail me to express my appreciation.

Such an amazing song. Super colorization. Just imagine, both of them had to shoot it under extremely hot arc lights which often caused actors to develop boils. I could see teh sweating face of Mala Sinha while she went on emoting.
