  • So it's been too long, but I'm back into getting the satellite tracker in order. Sorry for the delays, let's go over what I have ordered for parts and continue with this project. Any suggestions, please leave in the comments. Here are the links below to the additional parts I bought:

Finally! Thanks for getting back to this series. I thought you forgot about it by now!
Oh wow...you just got through the unboxing? At this rate, you should be done by next September! 😂🤣
...I guess that makes me one of those “I don’t want to see what you bought!” guys, huh? That’s ok...I’m content with that.

Don't throw away those styrofoam peanuts. Use them to make styrofoam peanut butter! 😁

Looking forward to this build. FYI get with me if you need any machine shop support. I have a well equipped shop with CNC capability and I”m relatively close to you in Rockledge, FL. Charlie K4CFR

Watch out for switching mode noise on those voltage converters. It shouldn't be a problem at vhf/uhf but its worth investigating before you get it all set up in the field.

IF THE BATTERY IS 2 BIG, CUT OUT PART OF THE TOP SO THE BATTERY FITS, THEN YOU CAN SILICON AROUND THE TOP OF THE BATTERY...…….

That's just stupid. Get two smaller batteries, and wire them in parallel, to meet the ah rating.

I ordered the part number you listed in the video, and my tilt system came disassembled and no servo. It does have the potentiometer included. Not sure about the servo. I guess I will need to call them and get that part as well. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else had to order a servo separately and what part number you used. I agree what is the use of a tilt system without the servo. The name of the company is Servo City for crying out loud!

    Hi,
Just went to servocity for the SPT400 tilt system.
As you said it doesn't come with a servo - what servo did you select ?
Also, I assume you selected the 5:1 ratio but what servo spline did you select - 24 tooth or 25 tooth ?
    Thanks for great channel.

Eric - Quite some time ago you put out one or two videos on how you installed the ICOM ID-5100A radio in your vehicle. For some reason I cannot find the video(s). Could you please tell me where I can find them.

Bob Blitheract yes however if you want to run 2m antenna at a left hand 45 tilt and the 70cm right hand 45 tilt, this will work just fine.

I think this is a FUN project and we appreciate these, however sometimes life is simpler to just go get a Yaesu G-5500 rotor and be done with it... Plus the resale value is very high on the G-5500 . Good Luck, does look a bit complicated and not something the average person should attempt to assemble..
