Mesmerizing Painting Tutorial - Creating Mesmerizing Cracked Texture Art and Rust Corrosion

We will use a fascinating technique by applying a thick layer of gesso to achieve an incredible cracked texture that forms as it dries.
But that's not all! We will also explore the magic of sand by crushing it and mixing it with gesso, adding a unique dimension to our artwork. Then, we will dive into the world of black and white, painting the canvas with various sponge techniques, creating fascinating visual effects.
To top it all off, we will use pigments and a rust mixture to create a beautifully rusted texture. Believe me, the result will be breathtaking!
Finally, we will finish our artwork by giving it one last sponge layer to perfect the overall look.

I’ve also been using Sergio’s videos as tutorials. Usually I quickly deviate from the subject painting but that’s OK because that’s when my painting becomes mine. I don’t yet have enough self confidence to go on my artistic journey alone so Sergio helps me a lot.

Una pregunta Sergio solo agregándole arena al gesso y dejándolo secar consigues ese craquelado porque yo trabajo habitualmente con polvo de mármol, Gesso, arena, relleno para grietas con cola blanca pero al secar no me produce ese tipo de efecto y mira que he intentado de varios modos. No agregas nada diferente a la mezcla Sergio? Un saludo, hoy he echado de menos el ratito del vivo. 🥹

Indeed, the crackle texture is crafted by applying a generous layer of gesso without the use of a cracking medium. Simply allow it to dry for 24 hours, and you'll witness the emergence of beautiful crackles. In this case, the gesso, under its own weight and as the air trapped within it seeks to escape, will create... I'm delighted that you value the cost-effective approach. Buongiorno Sergio, bellissima opera, magnifica texure rugginosa. Ammiro molto le tue opere , mi piacciono i lavori materici dove la texture dà carattere alla struttura dell'opera. Io in genere uso lo stucco in polvere o il gesso in polvere misto ad acqua e colla vinilica. Oggi non ho ben capito con che tipo di gesso hai iniziato . Ti ringrazio infinitamente per le tue parole incoraggianti e il tuo interesse per la mia ultima opera. Per rispondere alla tua domanda, ho utilizzato del gesso applicando uno strato spesso, (può essere fatto con o senza sabbia) e l'ho lasciato asciugare per 24 ore. Sotto il suo proprio peso, il gesso ha creato questa texture affascinante con bei effetti di crettatura. È una tecnica che apprezzo particolarmente per conferire una dimensione unica alle mie opere. Sono felice che tu apprezzi gli aspetti materiali dell'arte, ed è sempre un piacere condividere le mie sperimentazioni artistiche con una comunità così attenta. Um excelente exemplo de pintura, normalmente designada como industriar. Tecnicamente difícil, mas com um efeito magnifico. Só não entendi como aparece o craquelado. A textura do gesso e da areia, foram suficientes para criar esse efeito?
O efeito ferrugem é dos meus favoritos e este está entre eles.

Muito obrigado, João! Fico feliz que tenha apreciado a pintura. Quanto ao craquelado, o efeito é obtido principalmente pela aplicação de uma camada espessa de gesso. Se, ao aplicar uma camada espessa de Gesso (com ou sem areia) e deixar secar (24 horas), o ar que está dentro escapa ao ser comprimido durante a secagem do gesso, criando assim uma textura única sempre que seca.
