The Blues Brothers was so much more than a movie. It was a showcase for some of the absolute best talent in the blues/funk/R&B world at the time. Not even mentioning the guest appearances in the movie, this band itself is a masterclass. Willie Hall on drums, Matt "Guitar" Murphy and Steve Cropper on guitars, Duck Dunn on bass, Lou Marini on saxophone, Tom Malone on trombone, Alan Rubin on trumpet, and George "Murphy" Dunne on keyboards. Beasts, all of them!

The only reason Mom and I went to see this film was it was over 100 degrees that evening and the apartment was not air-conditioned but the theater was. Then it turned out to be absolutely delightful.
I can't help but wonder what some of the great Swing Band artists of the 1940's would have thought of this arrangement. It's not swing, not quite blues, not quite boogie-woogie, but there's a compelling beat to it that's hard to ignore. The way each instrument is featured throughout the nearly eight-minute-long song rivals even that of Benny Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing." This is a great driving song.

John Belushi was a good enough Blues singer to have done it professionally. He had a perfect voice for it, and the material they chose to cover was just brilliant and showed a deep knowledge of Blues and R&B. What began as a comedy wound up being one of the most important musical documents of the 20th Century!

a lot of people don't realize that the Blues Brothers were a real band! Paul Shaffer, David Letterman's band leader was in the Blues Brothers Band before the David Letterman show started. They put out two live albums and the soundtrack album. Awesome recordings....I have all three!!
I was a toddler when the original Blues Brothers skits were on SNL, but I love this music deep in my soul. Belushi and Ackroyd will forever be both music legends and comic geniuses.

This Song Shows Each Musician's Talents In Different Solo Arrangements Through The Song And The Final 2:30 Minutes Bring All Of Their Talents Together In One Classic And Monumental Jam Session. One of the greatest songs on the face of the earth. Not originally a Chicagoan, BUT, I 'f'in loved Chicago. Also born in 79, part of the greatest eras in music, boom. BLUES BROTHERS.
Just listened to Cab Calloway singing Minnie the Moocher at 73 years old. What a hoot. And a beautiful voice. This track is not as compelling but fits the movie well; it has so much to offer. I got interested in the movie again listening to Annie singing "Hold On. I'm Comin " with Steve Perry. I am just a little older than he is and started my marriage in Motown. So glad Steve got out of the rat race before it pulled him under.
This song is an absolute masterpiece. I absolutely love it. I play in my school band, and I play trombone and French Horn. I also play piano, but not in the band. I am trying to learn the trombone solo currently, and my goal is to get it sometime during freshman year, because I just graduated from 8th grade. I’ve already learned it on piano and I absolutely love it. The high school I am going to is known for having an amazing band, and their jazz band is made up of some of their best player. I’m going to try and convince the director to have the jazz band play this.

Elwood Blues (Dan Akroyd) hosted a Radio Show radio 📻 titled The House of Blues. I love the way Blues Music pioneered Rock and Roll. Carl Perkins had a Blues Style Sound to his Rock and Roll/Country style sound which he is credited for coming up with the Rockabilly Sound. ZZ Top is a good group that likes to mix Blues in their Classic Rock Sound. Their hit La Grange is a very good example.
Underrated? When I went to primary school in 1970's Europe, there was this dusty 'encyclopedia of music' in German - guess who had an entry right next to Bach, Beethoven and Brahms - Steve Cropper and Donald Dunn.
Henry Gibson was hilarious as the head Nazi, especially when they drove of the edge of the freeway when his right hand man said " i have always loved you" the expression on his face when falling through the air was priceless.
Still love it all these years later. I was stationed in the Navy north of Chicago at that time and played this 8 track all the time on the way back when I would go back home to Detroit!
Such an amazing and classic hit. I remember my Dad showing me this movie when I was like 5-6 years old, looking back now at 29 - you appreciate those father and son moments. The comedy is golden, and the music is never ending.
My mom is from Chicago as is most of her family, so we spent a lot of time in the city (we live just south of the city). My Dad LOVED the Blues Brothers. This song makes my heart happy.
I remember running out of high school, hopping on my bike, putting on headphones and listening to this while biking home with a happy heart. Little did I realise, I’d end up here in this moment, in this situation only some years later wishing to God I could experience that one more time.
Nobody has ever and never will hold a candle to the Blues Brothers. This is still just as fresh listening to it now as it was when it was first recorded.
God, I could only hope that my father gave it to my mom during this song to bring me to this world, because this would explain my love for blues music.
Dont know if you remember 40nyrs ago they would have promotional giveaway and you'd get an add in the paper saying you get 6 or so cassettes forn1 penny. Well , this album was one of them I chose as a 9 yr old .....best investment I ever made !!

So true, I was the same age when my Dad showed it to me in the early 90s. So grateful for it.
Time Traveler. Music. Is. Forever. 🎻🎺🎹🎷⚡🌈🎇✨🌍🌎🌏🌋🔥🎸☄️🎆😇🛸🚀
My mom is from Chicago as is most of her family, so we spent a lot of time in the city (we live just south of the city). My Dad LOVED the Blues Brothers. This song makes my heart happy.
This is definitely Lower Wacker Drive.
My Dad’s from Chicago too (i’m halfamerican and halfgerman tho) :D
Just love the City and watched the Blues Brothers a ton too lol
@@michaelgapple1894 funny man where they drive over the bridge seen. I grew up on the other block. Such great memories.
I remember running out of high school, hopping on my bike, putting on headphones and listening to this while biking home with a happy heart. Little did I realise, I’d end up here in this moment, in this situation only some years later wishing to God I could experience that one more time.
I finished the Berlin marathon in September 2022 and this song was playing on the speakers as i crossed the finish line, perfection!
Always loved this picture since it first came out!
RIP MR BELUSHI

RIP Mr. John Belushi! I'll be arriving at Midway airport flight 2591 @ 12:20am Friday 7/12.
@@ir10031981 ✌️😏 Welcome Back
My husband and I moved out of northern Illinois almost 31 years ago, but we sure miss the City from this time...
blues brothers stays awesome no matter what
One of the best movies ever made!
The whole song is a masterpiece, the instrumental section is musical bliss.
Classic film with real music
I lived in Chicago for 28 years and came back to my hometown two weeks ago... I definitely miss the Windy City
Nobody has ever and never will hold a candle to the Blues Brothers. This is still just as fresh listening to it now as it was when it was first recorded.
Exactly my thoughts
I don't dance, ever, but when this song comes on, I am the goofiest looking white guy west of the mighty Mississippi, I play the air sax too
cool!
Totally rad!! Keep air saxon brotha. There's nothing wrong wit it one bit!!
Nah. I am. One foot following the drummer, with an air bass. But I feel you. This is music to get up and dance to.
Keep up the good work, homie
I love to see how recent the comments are, gives me faith in humanity
✌😏 same here ⚾
always with the Blues Brother !
I’m super late 😂
Mitchell Thomas me toooo
Just us old farts
Learned how to play proper blues bass from this track. Duck Dunn was a master. 🤤
That was Donald 'Duck' Dunn sir...LOL
Check out Booker T and the MG's "Green Onions" Dunn on bass, Cropper on guitar when they were young
@@aloysha38 wow thank you i only knew about steve
Still got the real vinyl album, love it!
Aw nice! Wish I had a record player.
Me too. Great 👍
God, I could only hope that my father gave it to my mom during this song to bring me to this world, because this would explain my love for blues music.
You rest in peace John.....Your missed my friend. You say hey too Chris Farley for me,and John Candy.
From a time where people simply had fun. True happiness.
Dont know if you remember 40nyrs ago they would have promotional giveaway and you'd get an add in the paper saying you get 6 or so cassettes forn1 penny. Well , this album was one of them I chose as a 9 yr old .....best investment I ever made !!
