Just bought a Spartan on ebay for $12 with free shipping! Replaced the translucent blue scales for some plus scales and added the pin and eyeglasses screwdriver. Love it!
I like that Spartan plus! I was edc'ng a Spartan, for about 1.5 years, back when I was working on chainsaws, mowers, weed whackers, and snowblowers; and, I loved it. It is so light and pocket friendly, yet capable and durable (I especially love all Victorinox because those thin high chromium blades are so easy to sharpen, in like 30 seconds I could get my blade from mildly sharp to "pretty darn sharp"). But, then, as all of us tool geeks do, I started trying to think of the "ultimate" edc knife and I bought a used "Tinker" (because of the phillips instead of the corkscrew) (problem: I couldn't stop buying Victorinox, and a few "Wenger" swiss army knives). That's a great little "bih uh ket" as our English buddies like to say. Not sure if I will build one like it with my 2 or 3 spartans that I own (depends on how much extra cash I have in the future). Nowadays, I rotate between a Leatherman "Wave" and a "Fuse" for my EDC because I am back to working on everything from golf carts to "Heavy Equipment". I keep a "Ruby Red Translucent" scaled Swisschamp in my day pack, and the other day I wanted to try the pliers out on a rusty "top post" battery terminal bolt. I think I could have gotten it if I woulda had gloves on, but as amazing as that little pair of pliers is, it was pushing the limits of my finger and hand strength (getting old too). I love that leather sheath for the Wave...gorgeous.
Nice. Been carrying a Spartan for years with a ring and my keys. Weighs nothing and always there. Used everything on it one way or another. If I am carrying a bag I will have a double ended screw driver of the type that comes in car tool kits and a pair of light needle nose pliers. Get me out of trouble........usually. Cheers
Does anyone know how long these knives can last with proper use? How many times can the main blade be sharpened before it's not usable anymore? I have just received a Camper as a B-day gift and to me it looks very high quality that could possibly outlive its owner. :D Just curious.
Ive had my huntsman for probably 10 years. Doesn't look like new but held up well. Admittedly not my main cutting tool but has been sharpened a bunch and doesn't seem like blade is wearing away. Not meant for HEAVY duty but handle most things well. GREAT tools.
@@davem.3844 Thank you for a quick reply mate. Thats what I was thinking. I know my father had one when I was a kid but he lost it somewhere and then I got one as a gift and was surprised how good it built. I saw many different multitool knives but they were always loose or some other sh*t but this one feels rock solid lol.
I have had several SAKs. One was used daily as a carriable screw driver. It never losened at at despite lots of torque. The blades hold their edge and don't need constant sharpening. The high quality stainless steel never rusts and just needs a touch up occasionally. I lose them but never wear them out.

Thanks and I agree that Victorinox are small but mighty. But yes I can't go without my leatherman at the same time for bigger jobs. Glad for options.
