As momentous as moving to Skye, owning a boat near open water will be another milestone in your life... it really is a game changer. (also like having another Jack to worry over, but you can't even imagine life without) 😎👍 woohoo...!
I've just returned from beautiful and stunning Skye where my friend and I did the Tallisker Distillery tour, after we were leaving the car park, guess who I saw across the road, Richard! Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to stop and say hello and my friend thought I'd gone mad when I shouted out Richard's name! Lol. Maybe next time eh? Lol
In Australia we call people like Richard a "good bloke", they help you whenever you ask and often when you don't and a sarcastic sense of humour is a must. Love the new boat, can't wait to hear what you call her and share in the happy voyages to come!

I am absolutely loving the boat! If I lived by the sea, I'd definitely get a boat, too. This looks so much fun and I'm glad Jack Spaniels also enjoyed it! Richard's life probably got at least 30% more exciting (and chaotic) since you moved into the area and semi-adopted him. It's always fun to see him.
Maybe you can even travel to other villages/places on Skye via the water. Wow. Could be fun. What a thrill. Thank you for taking us along. Hard to believe you are on Episode 27 already. Love you all 💜💜💜

I get the feeling Richard knows everything… secretly. Much like my husband, man of few words, but always has an answer and the right tool. Our neighbor Chris thinks he is magical because he ALWAYS has the tool he needs. So Willie needs a Richard and Richard needs a Willie… Willie provides interest and an innocent excitement. Such a nice video!
Have fun! Consider keeping a store of drinking water and emergency food, and some fleece blankets on board, just in case you have a bit of trouble one day and have to wait for a hand. Always better to be prepared. Jack has the best life ever!
Well done guys, great boat. They say thee are two good things about owning a boat, the day you buy it and the day you sell it….😅. Willie, as a long time sailor, you should make sure you get a license for the VHF radio equipment. Strictly speaking you should also do an RYA Radio Operators license to use the radio. This is around £80 and is a days course and teaches you lots about correct procedure and how to use in an emergency. Go and chat to the local RNLI station I’m sure they will give you some advice. MOST IMPORTANT and you need to give Richard a small slap, whoever is driving the boat must wear the kill cord. Especially important if on the boat alone. It will cut the engine in the event the driver is thrown overboard and it saves lives. It is usually a red curly cord that attaches to the throttle and it must have been there for you to run the engine unless it has been bypassed somehow. Stay safe and enjoy… Remember BOAT Bring Out Another Thousand….. 😊. Andy UK
Can't believe you bought a boat when you've never even driven one before. You're going to have a great time, and you're so fortunate to have a mentor in Richard. Time for a good compass and GPS and depthfinder and learn to watch the weather. In the U. S., the Coast Guard offers lesson in marine laws and seamanship for recreation boaters which are very worthwhile. And yes, a boat is a hole it the water into which you throw money.

We want you to have fun and enjoy the sea but at the moment you don't know what you don't know. To be safe and more importantly keep Jack safe it would be a good idea to complete the RYA powerboat level 2 course. You will then know a lot more and also know what you need to do to be safe. Hahaha happy sailing folks. Don’t forget to get the proper permits if you put out lobster pots. I’m envious. I come from Nova Scotia and haven’t had any lobster yet this year. To top it off I broke a crown off one of my front teeth. Once the dentist is paid maybe I will get some. Thanks for rescuing the little frog eggs and showing the newts and frogs. Had SO much fun in boats in my life - I'm glad you've got one! I'm sure the UK has boat safety classes, and taking one is a great idea, if not legally required. Knowing how to pass another boat safely and how to navigate buoys, etc., etc., is just good sense. Have fun!

Seems captain Jack has already found his spot on the boat. I had a Dachshund who demanded to go fishing with me and my sister. He was dedicated. We fish the Mississippi River. Got a depth finder? Some of my fondest childhood memories were made on the water in my dad's little johnboat (another way to say the boat has no frills, bells or whistles) going crabbing with him. I was heartbroken when he sold that boat. One of these days I'm going to have a boat of my own. It's so fun being out on the water. Captain Long Jack Spaniels is in doggie heaven on board your boat! Richard is great, glad you have him in your community and lives! I love the boat, it is a nice size. Looks like Jack is in his natural environment on the boat, the boats name may have to reflect him in some way. I hope that Sarah paints the name on in her own cool way!
