I found Holostars in 2021 and I've loved them ever since. At some point I was feeling down due to college entry test crisis (I kept failing), and then out of nowhere, BOOM! They announced that all remaining member will get 3D model (OG9 except Rikka who already has it) AND they will get their very first original song: Just Follow Stars. Bro I muffled screamed at that. Not only I felt motivated again, but at that point I was so, so proud of Holostars. I love them.
Omg same!! I had just started getting into Holostars around April 2021, so I got to experience the big announcement at the Anniversary stream in June. It was such an exciting time to be in the fandom, when just about every week there was a new 3D debut or song cover or orisong...
I don't remember exactly when I got into Holostars, but it was a little before the 3D debuts (except Roberu's and Rikka's), so it was close to that time too. Just Follow Stars feels like a theme song. Even though We Are the Holostars is my favorite as a large group/intro song, JFS has a really special place in my heart and it always makes me feel things whenever I hear it. I love these boys.
I joined the Holostars rabbit hole around the time Holotempus started, but my actual introduction to Holostars was Suntempo's Nihon no Mikata cover. Until today, I'm still flabbergasted by Astel's vocal range bc WTF is that little alien man's voice???
Personal additions to this list: Izuru - Aishite (Perfect voice for this song he adds so much raw emotion into it !!) Hakka - Sentimental Feelings of Love (still my favorite Hakka cover ever...Babel comes close tho ! ) Bettel - One Reason ( i was gonna pick When You're Evil cause it fits him so well, but his One Reason cover is just too damn hype)

Astel,Roberu,Izuru solidifies me in this rabbit hole that is holostars. Just knew the meaning of the word "oshi" a few months ago, now Astel is one of my two oshis in holopro.
I remember learning about vtubers since like 2020 cuz of Hololive. But what ended up making me fall into the rabbit hole was Holostars. Especially Suntempo, the toliet tempo story definitely got me hooked 😂😂

And here I find myself remembering how my appreciation for the Stars and their music is built on my appreciation for male utaite as well. And then I realize that brothers like those made up for the lack I and my close friends left me through being closer to the mold of the average fanboy of Japanese nerd culture, especially the cynical sort. I wouldn't have bothered to look up utaite and such without learning to further nerd out through my bros first, but I wouldn't be feeling so me without a bunch of those vocal cover artist dudes musically fanboying about Vocaloid songs on Niconico showing this fellow man that nerding out and being a guy don't really need to be self-loathing or worse. Things like having spent all my high school years in an all-boys school, where I got those aforementioned close friends, plus getting into singing starting from my last year there also helped. So yeah, I suppose all that's at least a part of how I manage to get out of my comfort zone to get to know the Stars' music through stuff like this compilation. And my appreciation for the Stars keeps on growing. TwT
Mannn ur compilation really put a big smile on my face and got me all hyped again! I havent really been keeping up with the boys lately due to uni assignments but this just reminds me that I should! :' ) ALSO KIRA MENTIONED TwT
Some of my favorite Stars covers are Sun Tempo's Nihon no Mikata and Astel and Roberu's Hashire by Gumi. Astel's deep voice in Nihon no Mikata was a hoot, but an impressive hoot. He didn't have to go so hard LOL but they were trying to match the original, and they did it so well! And the duet parts sounded so good in Hashire, it's one of my favorite Vocaloid songs and I appreciate how they sang it. Ah, but for Shanti, I really liked Fuma's version because I think his breathy and raspy voice and the rough/growly delivery of some parts suited the concept well. Also please check out Octavio's One Last Kiss cover, his falsetto is impeccable and he did everything from scratch!
