Hey, fellow dog fanciers and whippeteers! My name is Adriana, proudly owned by 8 gorgeous whippets, and I have been surrounded by pets since day 1. The world of show dogs, dog shows and responsible breeding has been keeping me busy since the age of 12 and this channel is especially created to educate on these controversial topics

Your way of explaining these subjects are priceless! 😂 (Whippet babies are like human babies, they need constant attention)

Thanks for your videos! I watch every one because I have a Whippet puppy that’s nine months and very similar to you Eris.
Your description on Whippet puppies is very correct. I had a Border Collie before and to compare there are quite similar as puppies. Difference is that Maja our Whippet puppy can play with he self for hours. Our BC never did that and required me playing/training with her all day or she became destructive.
So to compare Maja is much easier. I can give her some a toys or puzzles and then I can work all day. (With some breaks for outdoor walking and play of course.)
I also have a Chinese Crested and she was super easy as a puppy. Just hanging around me was enough. So I agree what you said in a earlier video that a Whippet maybe isn’t a good first dog.
On the other hand Whippets are very friendly and nice dogs so they are easy as puppies in that sense.
I don’t find it harder to train Maja then my BC. The difference is that you really have to know what motivates her. She loves playing so all I have to do is turn everything into something really fun.
    Looking forward to next week!

Spot on with everything. I’ve got a 5 month old male whippet. You have to be a laid back person to roll with a whippet pup. I laugh at the crazy stuff he does where as I can tell some people would lose their mind dealing with a whippet pup.

That's so true! One must be laid back and extremely patient, and also expect the unexpected. Cause young whippets have some unbelievable ideas sometimes 🙈

Your video sums it all up that's for sure Whippets are a lot of nonstop work especially if you only have one you'll be their entertainment keeping them occupied making sure they don't get into anything...mine would dig holes in the backyard so fast I couldn't just let her out without following right behind her and even then in a second she'd have a hole dug. They look for dog type things to do which is exhausting but important to keep an eye on them some things can be very dangerous they will get into your gardening supplies grab something off your desk get into the bathroom grab something off the countertop its endless inquisitive activity but honestly most puppies are like that ..the bigger breeds ...can reach more items but whippets are fast at doing it. My girl is 2 now and lots of that has changed she's grown out of a lot of the puppy stage and has settled down a lot but oh boy it was perpetual motion keeping an eye on her.

I agree with everything! They are smart, quick and once you turn your back they get into action. Also, having other dogs doesn't guarantee they won't get bored. As soon as everyone falls asleep midday and there's noone to play with Erys, she is on her way to look for adventure 😅

@@ShowPaws I agree as much as I'd love another one reality says one is enough at my age I have just enough energy to spoil one dog ❤ when is your next show? Here in southern California we still have a few shows until the end of the year.

Our Enzo doesn't seem to know how to sit, he resists being tucked to sit. He's a real character and has bonded so quickly with my wife and I but especially his sister Bug. He sleeps in his crate until 5:30 at which time he joins us in our bed; I swear he can tell time since he joins us for that morning snuggle at 5:30 on the nose where he stays until 7:30, where he and Bug do there ritual morning zoom for about 2 or 3 minutes, then it's morning business and walk time.

Sounds like Enzo is already feeling at home ❤️ Some whippets refuse to sit on hard surfaces, so maybe a little trick would be to first teach him to sit on a bed/carpet/blanket. 😊

My whips are now 8 and 7.5 years old. They were energetic chewing cheeky nutters right up until 2yo, and then it was like a switch was thrown. These days a daily 30 - 60 min sniff filled walk or a good play date will see them calm / snoozing / hanging out calmly for the rest of the day.

They sound like typical whippets 😄 Once they mature, it's like everything changes within 1 day and it feels like magic 🙈

Games like ''Little Mouse'' when you put your hand under a blanket or sheet like when making a bed} and they pounce and chase...OR a lure {soft material or a soft leather hide} tied to end of a bamboo stick that can be trailed about - they love chasing this! ..Or a plastic bottle with a few dog biscuits in..they do love flipping this about to get the treats out.
