I don't even understand why people drink soda pop, water is all the body needs. My ex-wife drank soda pop multiple times a day and ate candy bars/cheeseburgers and despite her being 4 years younger than me she looks a decade older and when I ran into her a few weeks ago I almost fainted. We split 5 years ago and those 5 years were NOT easy on her! Then again, I was the one who prepared our meals and made sure we ate healthy but she was the one who would grab cheeseburgers and eat them on the way home (AI found a stash of 40+ McDonald's double cheeseburger wrappers shoved under the drivers seat once) and when I confronted her about it she said that her friend did it when she borrowed the car once... yeah... eating like 44 cheeseburgers over an hour period... okay... Then she started to gain weight and went from 140 to about 180 within two years and by year three she was 200 pounds. Had to end it all over that, I couldn't be with a massive hog for a wife anymore and had to get out of that because it ruined our intimacy when she was 40 pounds heavier than me despite me being 6 inches taller and a man. @@TheKrispyfort She regressed due to her friends offering her garbage and her taking it. Now she is well over 250 pounds and is 5 foot 6, I know this because we share a son (that I have custody of for obvious reasons). It came to a point where she was addicted to sugar and the beautiful woman I married turned into a monstrosity. Meanwhile, I covered the rent, the bills, dressed and bathed our son, cooked every meal, took our son to school and picked him up, and cleaned the house, did the laundry, and washed the dishes. Meanwhile she would lay in bed all day with a pile of cans next to her and a bunch of empty wrappers while laughing and watching TikTok's while using her belly as a table. I tried my best to snap her out of it but she kept making idiotic claims such as "pop has calories and water doesn't and I need calories" or "candy bars aren't bad for you and chocolate helps your heart". I would try to talk to her about fixing her diet but she would just eat more and more until I just didn't care after being ignored for years. Yet my wife is the victim? Who is the one who did EVERYTHING around the house and took care of our son while his wife pigged out and wasted our money on edible trash? Enabling a person to make bad choices in regards to their health isn't a good thing and when a person gains 50 pounds a year from chugging soda pop and eating trash it isn't healthy no matter how you spin it. I' was 150 pounds and 5 ft 10 and my wife was over 200 pounds and 5 ft 4 before things ended. But yeah, say I was the abusive one for letting her go to therapy, not enabling her, and being responsible and keeping everything together. I am a big mean man with a penis and I'm wrong because my brain matter resides in my testicles and it's okay if my wife sits around and eats all day. I am a man though so if I sat around, paid no bills, took zero responsibility, etc while my wife works all day and pays for everything I'm the one at fault hurrdurr lol 😂. Sorry but wow dude... I hear Gliese 581-C is nice this time of year orbiting around it's star if you'd like to have a waypoint on how to reach this planet and understand it's language and intricacies. Not trying to start anything but damn, I busted my ass for her for years and she let herself go, not because of depression but because she had a terrible social circle who enabled her to eat all the time become fat because they were all fat. Misery loves company bro, sooner you realize that the better. The only person any sane human should trust is themselves and only respect those who rise above mediocrity and the trappings such entails and eventually imposes upon a person. When you've taken your wife to therapy, tried to convince her to take morning walks, prepared healthy meals that she wasted and would Doordash fast food instead (I swear to god, I made baked salmon on basmati rice with new potatoes seasoned in garlic, parlsey, olive oil, and Himalayan pink salt with a side of steamed broccoli and carrots with a bottle of malt vinegar, sea salt, and a black peppercorn grinder and a glass of wine for each of us and guess what? She took maybe two bites before stating that she wanted cheeseburgers from McDonald's. I'm not even joking. She preferred eating 6 McDoubles over baked salmon with new potatoes and basmati rice and some steamed vegetables. When the food got to the house she grabbed it and immediately wiped out a burger in TWO bites and then proceeded to dip the rest in ranch while seated right in front of me with the dinner I worked on for over 2 and a half hours. But yeah, I am the abuser irght? Sorry but had to vent because I get pissed off when people falsely judge me, I bust my ass every day because I am a single dad and the mother is 250 pounds and living with her parents who buy her pizza or she cries/calls the cops on them. I did EVERYTHING I could for her and tried to help her get out of the food addiction. I asked her many times why she felt the need to eat and drink so much and she told me her parents didn't have a lot of money and now that she had a guy who has such she wanted to enjoy herself a bit. Before you know it she was basically unrecognizable from when we met. I talked to her therapist and they claimed I was "fat shaming" my wife! Seriously? Your wife gains 100 pounds in a couple years and I'm shaming her for wanting her to be healthy while they just tell her what she wants to hear, paid for by my wallet? Yeah... tell my wife she has no issues while my wife tells the therapists I'm an asshole for not supplying her food while she steals my card when I'm not around and forget to grab it and charges $50 worth of Pizza Hut. That Type-2 diabetes didn't develop itself and I am not to blame for her feet being filled with fluid from her bad kidney's to the point she can barely fit in shoes. Also, if I was the problem why is it that after I divorced her she kept gaining weight and is on her way to 300 pounds? Should I just have just grabbed a cartful of junk food every week for her while I am the only one who is eating healthy? What is more abusive, sourcing good ingredients and preparing high quality and nutritious whole foods or enabling your wife to eat herself to death? I wasn't even harsh with her at first, for the first few months I questioned her and asked why she started drinking soda pop and eating junk and she just told me it tasted good and offered me some. I told her many times that she was putting on weight (so what if that is rude) but she just said it was because she was happy. We had sex often even at the end of our relationship but she would just lay there even though she was clearly enjoying it and couldn't keep her hands off of me. When I did get her to do anything else in bed she complained that it was too much effort and she was worn out. She would wake up and sit her laptop on her belly and ask me to make her breakfast every day and she always wanted a large bowl of cheesy scrambled eggs with bacon, 2 slices of toast with butter, 4 sausage patties, and 2 pancakes with syrup and butter. Meanwhile I'd eat a bowl of oatmeal and an apple with a handful of almonds. I asked her if she wanted to try my breakfast and she just told me she didn't like fruit or oatmeal and almonds are nasty despite her enjoying them when we met. Yeah, her friends brainwashed her and ruined her life, now she is near kidney failure and morbidly obese with type-2 diabetes and can't even watch our child one day a week because she "can't keep up with him". I'm done rambling but yeah, don't talk shit on people unless you know them in the future okay?
Part of me wonders how many people will actually put 'Roger Horton' as a write-in candidate because they don't care for any of the actual candidates. :D
At least Roger isn't senile, I'm honesty not impressed with any of the recent candidates. I did like Clinton (wasn't old enough to vote then) because he was fairly moderate but Bush was a warmonger, Obama nearly had us a second great depression, Trump had good policies but is insufferable, Biden acts friendly but clearly isn't fit for POTUS as he reminds me of a Wal-Mart door greeter. It would be nice if a Libertarian candidate could get elected to shake things up for the first time since George Washington or an Independent such as RFK Jr but I feel like Americans are too brainwashed and tribality by nature to go with any option other than Red vs Blue or Left vs Right. Most humans have always seen things from a good versus evil, right versus wrong duality but that just plays perfectly into the narrative where controlled opposition can divide and conquer us. It doesn't help when the mass media is always for one side or the other depending on the channel you pick either. I see positives and negatives on both sides so why can't we just embrace what will positively affect most Americans while eschewing what will not. It is a majority rules country after all. The fact that marijuana is still illegal federally blows my mind, I've used it since the age of 16 (I'm 35 now) and it's helped me immensely when it comes to dealing with the intricacies of life.
In Texas, we won't know if they do, unless a candidate named "Roger Horton" files as a write-in candidate by a certain deadline. State law says that any write-in votes for candidates not on that list aren't tallied. (While that rule seems sketch on the face of it, there is a logic, in that if people just write in names with no corresponding data, there could be names on there that belong to multiple people and the elections offices won't know whether people are voting for the _same_ "Jane Jones.")
Politics is the eternal struggle to minimize disappointment. In a winner-take-all system where results naturally converge on two sides, your choice really is only “try to win” or “just lose”, whether you vote or not.
Our 2-party system *sucks.* Sadly, Citizens United & our campaign finance hellscape prevents change. But there's still enough difference between the 2 parties to care & vote. "Let's try to do things that will get blocked by Congress/SC" vs "Let's take away people's rights & benefits, and give them to corporations via privatization, deregulation, & crippling regulatory agencies" is a crappy but clear choice. I don't see how to change it without a time machine. Roger, save us!
Every politician: "Yeah I know my first term sucked, I'll get everything done in my second term!" If they lose, they complain. If they win, they do nothing.
Yep, cognitive dissonance and the controlled opposition that leads into promoting humanities inherent tribalism is working well for our glorious leaders in their ivory towers watching their country burn while eating steak and lobster and drinking $500 wine.
Pokemon is a surprisingly good metaphor for the political parties. While there are issues that both parties agree on, each version has things the other party does not; meaning the only way to complete the Pokedex is to reach across the aisle and get things done.
Also, definitely a missed opportunity to point out the overall futility of voting...simply due to basic math. One person will only astronomically have a chance to swing a federal election with a vote. But one influential person who can sheep their following could very well swing it.
This only really applies to the presidential election. Your vote matters much more at all of the other levels of government, especially when you get down to the state and local level that people unfortunately don't pay attention to.
@@AhPook Not really. The distribution of my brand of apathy is pretty universal across the political spectrum. It won't swing an election. Ive become like the remote village farmer who doesn't care who's in charge so long as I can still do my thing.
Freedom of speech is pretty vital I'd say and posting a politics-related video and not allowing discourse or recourse would be a lukewarm take at best.
I can't understand leaning either direction anymore, we've tried the back and forth BS for over 200 years and look where we are now. Clearly neither side is the right answer but most Americans are so brainwashed they only see red and blue.
The two parties (and their lobbyist backers) don't want us to have more than the two choices. Ross Perrot scared them into putting barriers around their two-party monopoly, because giving people choices makes threatens their well-oiled machine. They can manipulate a Dem or Rep puppet, but what to do with a Libertarian? Green? That's giving too much power to the masses and too much uncertainty into their game.
With the mathematics of our system you literally cannot elect a third party. You could start local and build a national movement with senators and representatives and governors and THEN maybe, have a shot. But any candidate running for president without that is a spoiler. And they know it.
This was awesome, great scripting. I wish more people knew U.S. history. I would actually love to see some citations. Do you think it would work or would it distract from the bit?
I believe that we need to change the way we elect our representatives to a more parliamentarian system where more than two parties are viable. That way we get some real choices at the poles and our votes aren’t wasted even if we’re in the minority.
“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.” - Alexander Tytler, 1787
I like RFK Jr. The man is mentally competent, is for regulating the FDA and BigPharma, and isn't an extremist. I can't fathom why people are content with the flip-flopping of the past 200+ years when it comes to political parties but I would wager cognitive dissonance plays a large role.
What ever gave the notion of the presidential election is elected by the citizens? The president is elected by the “electoral college” In the United States, the Electoral College is the group of presidential electors that is formed every four years for the sole purpose of voting for the president and vice president. The process is described in Article II of the U.S. Constitution.[1] Each state appoints electors using legal procedures determined by its legislature, equal in number to its congressional delegation (representatives and senators) totaling 535 electors. A 1961 amendment granted the federal District of Columbia three electors. Of the current 538 electors, a simple majority of 270 or more electoral votes is required to elect the president and vice president. If no candidate achieves a majority there, a contingent election is held by the House of Representatives to elect the president and by the Senate to elect the vice president. Federal office holders, including senators and representatives, cannot be electors.
I encourage all who watch this to go watch the election debates with Ross Perot back in the day(1992). He actually asks questions that aren't total bullshit and made both sides so uncomfortable that the rules were changed and third-party constituents never, ever reached the bar to qualify for the debates ever since. They do not ever want a third-party voice to be an option to the people.
It really should matter more. in my local mayoral election, the current mayor got votes accounting for less than 10% of the population of the city of nearly 180k people and won. That is really not ok. The affirmative consent of 8k people should not be able to justify the right to make rules and decisions on behalf of the other 172k people.
@@ColinTherac117 There's a reason one party is hellbent on blocking mail-in balloting, online web-based voting, dropbox voting, etc. Making voting difficult so the result is not representative of the popular demand has been in the playbook since the Civil War. Why do you think we vote on a weekday and not a Saturday? Why do you think voting day is not a federal holiday? Both parties suck *sometimes,* but at least one of them at least *appears* to give a shit about true representation of their constituents, etc. The other doesn't even try. They're explicitly the party of "f*** you, you shouldn't get to tell me what to do - I have more money, so I'm more important than you." IMO we should make election days holidays, put them on a weekend, and offer some kind of tax credit if you sign-in at your polling place or submit your absentee ballot. Choose to abstain from voting if you want, but citizens should be required to either confirm their presence at the polling place or submit a blank ballot with their signature on it.
@user-wv3ew8qq7m submit a blank ballot with a signature? 😂😂 No, just no. They'll fill it in for you- not that that isn't already happening. But no, that's a logic failure.
@@gaidhliglass you should be required to show up and sign your name on your ballot. If you choose to leave every entry blank and press "confirm" every time (if digital) or drop into the box (if paper), then that's your choice. You can do that now. The only thing that changes is that you are required to do *something*, as opposed to choosing to stay home. If you don't like the options, sign a blank ballot. If you prefer one candidate over the others, check the box/punch the hole/whatever for that candidate before you leave the polling place Edit: also, nobody fills in a ballot for you. The logical failure is yours. If someone cares enough to try that, it's better for them if you don't go at all. Then someone could pretend to be you- not that that ever really happens, if you actually look at the election fraud stats instead of paraphrasing some talking head

Til I realized I could get a Mankey and didn't need to use Pikachu at all.
That was probably my first lesson in "just believing" not being an effective strategy to achieve anything, despite it being a running theme in so many shows, movies, games, books, religions, etc. sure there was some "effort" put in, but in many cases the efforts put in seemed to be purposefully wasteful when there were other options but that undermines the runtime of the story.
Thanks Pokemon. And Roger and Co 😅
Mankey was a real one in that one, I ended up evolving him to a Primeape and he was on my team to face the Élite Four.
Ahhhh going after *both* sides.
How true comedy should be!
the two parties are on the same side
That’s how it used to be before people started taking politics so seriously, the politicians liked it better then because nobody was paying attention but even with the extra scrutiny things don’t get any better, they just lie to us like we can’t see what their doing and ignore us when we complain about it.
@@natesullivanw24 not quite. The establishment types of both parties are right wing authoritarians, then you have MAGA which is straight fascism, and the “left wing” that holds a sliver of political power is a centrist/center-left coalition where half its members are afraid to be associated with the word “social” let alone socialism.
@@natesullivanw24 Yep, controlled opposition is the name of the game and sowing division amongst the masses keeps them weak as they are divided and easily conquered. I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been a revolution yet. This country has been on a slow downwards trajectory since 1913 (Federal Reserve Act). Yeah, there have been a few upticks here and there but things have been following the trend of a downward spiral these past few years.
Indeed both sides should be made fun of. Sure the donkey is being made fun of and forcing change, but the elephant is pulling the same old bs that's mostly outdated.
I was not expecting that very accurate assessment of PowerWheels drivers.

Billion, with a 'B'
I don't even understand why people drink soda pop, water is all the body needs. I drink some whiskey now and then to deal with the stresses of life but other than that only water and I'm doing fine. 36 years-old with no health problems and I look younger than 90% of people my age because I don't consume much sugar and don't eat red meat and haven't since I was 18.
She got a lot lazier as well and wouldn't clean anything and her hygiene went to hell.

You must reside in a different galaxy because you clearly aren't a spec in the Milky Way one.
"My little data points..."
❤😂
Hello, influential propaganda deliverer for data points!
Part of me wonders how many people will actually put 'Roger Horton' as a write-in candidate because they don't care for any of the actual candidates. :D
At least as many as will vote for Les Claypool
Roger's face on ALL the founding fathers' portraits had me wheezing. Perfect!
You probably think his opening metaphor was about butterflies but it's actually about xenomorphs

No he was joking about the reptilian conspiracy that our leaders are aliens in disguise.
Okay but the donkey drawing was actually really good tho-
Our 2-party system *sucks.* Sadly, Citizens United & our campaign finance hellscape prevents change.

Roger has actually become a respectable, legitimate social critic and philosopher at this point.
Also, definitely a missed opportunity to point out the overall futility of voting...simply due to basic math.
One person will only astronomically have a chance to swing a federal election with a vote.
But one influential person who can sheep their following could very well swing it.
If they live in a small state or a swing state, they can swing much farther than California.
This only really applies to the presidential election. Your vote matters much more at all of the other levels of government, especially when you get down to the state and local level that people unfortunately don't pay attention to.
@@MusouInken Federal is astronomical.
State averages 1/50th of astronomical.
But yeah, local can get within reason IF you don't live in a big city.
This is a dangerous mindset and part of how fascism has taken root in countries across history.
@@AhPook Not really. The distribution of my brand of apathy is pretty universal across the political spectrum. It won't swing an election.

Freedom of speech is pretty vital I'd say and posting a politics-related video and not allowing discourse or recourse would be a lukewarm take at best.
You claim to be impartial, but 90% of everything your sketches say lean hard left. Great stuff! 😂
I can't understand leaning either direction anymore, we've tried the back and forth BS for over 200 years and look where we are now. Clearly neither side is the right answer but most Americans are so brainwashed they only see red and blue.

Yes both parties have been BRIBED by the same Conflicts of Interest !

The civil war begins joke had me spit out my water
What ever gave the notion of the presidential election is elected by the citizens? The president is elected by the “electoral college”
In the United States, the Electoral College is the group of presidential electors that is formed every four years for the sole purpose of voting for the president and vice president.
We have invaded us, LEO.
Our founding fathers would declare war on their own country if they appeared today.

Even by not voting, your voting!!, I wish people would truly understand the weight of that.
It really should matter more. in my local mayoral election, the current mayor got votes accounting for less than 10% of the population of the city of nearly 180k people and won. That is really not ok. The affirmative consent of 8k people should not be able to justify the right to make rules and decisions on behalf of the other 172k people.
It doesn’t matter since both parties are bought by the same corporate interests - we live in an oligarchy that pretends to be a democracy.
They're explicitly the party of "f*** you, you shouldn't get to tell me what to do - I have more money, so I'm more important than you."
IMO we should make election days holidays, put them on a weekend, and offer some kind of tax credit if you sign-in at your polling place or submit your absentee ballot.
If you prefer one candidate over the others, check the box/punch the hole/whatever for that candidate before you leave the polling place
Edit: also, nobody fills in a ballot for you. The logical failure is yours. If someone cares enough to try that, it's better for them if you don't go at all. Then someone could pretend to be you- not that that ever really happens, if you actually look at the election fraud stats instead of paraphrasing some talking head
