It bothers me that he keeps saying that dark souls 3 is like elden ring like dark souls 3 came out after. It's poor writing and criticism when it should be pointing out what they took from it, polished, and used in elden ring.
It wasn't really that much they did differently tbh. We only got 2 new mechanics with being able to jump from neutral and horseback riding. ER is just an open world dark souls and it shows.
@@Demonshaft16 AoW, Torrent, Jumping, Incantations, no durability, scarlet rot, death blight, frenzy, stake of marika and plenty more than that. We have so many new mechanics.
@ciangriffin9630 The player themselves got almost nothing besides a neutral jump and horseback riding. Incantations are just faith spells. Scarlet rot is poison on steroids. Death blight is just a curse. Frenzy is probably the only new thing, and it's only because it actually does something to people besides damage because if it didn't restrict the use of spells when applied, it would just be chaos magic. While I appreciate the stakes, they also are not a new concept. There were summoning "pools" in demon souls where that was the only place to find players signs. Granted, they put enough of a spin on things to make them fresh, but for me personally, the souls formula is boring, and Miyazaki kinda missed the mark for me when it comes to ER. It's not a bad game. I just don't think it adds enough.
It's better. Dark Souls 3 has the most original fresh content out of ANY souls game. That and bloodborne. Elden Ring just reused every animation ever, so playing it is a "who's that pokemon" of bosses past lmfao, It feels like a Dark Souls 3 mod rather than it's own standalone game.
As an avid fan of SneakyCacti, I just knew I had to pick this video up. Unfortunately, I found the takes to be bland, boring, uninspired, and just lacking in luster.
This man fails to understand that these games came out in a certain order, one different to the one he played them. Saying that DS3 feels like a downgrade is unfair, in the same way that saying that a roman colosseum is a downgrade to a modern day stadium. There's a context unique to each game where Fromsoft would try to improve and build on the mechanics of the last while keeping what made the last one special. Wich is another thing. You wouldn't play a game that calls itself Dark Souls if It didn't have the combat of a Dark Souls game. What's the point of delivering a new GTA game if you're playing it like a Mario Kart.
The reason for the dull colors is that it takes place in a dying, decaying world. Elden Ring is still alive, and still has hope; Dark Souls 3 is a world where the only hope is the end.
Another banger by Sneaky. Once I heard the name "Expert Review Zone" I knew who we were dealing with in this video. Its literally the same guy the claimed that: "The Steam Deck is bad because its too heavy". 😂 Great video Sneaky.
I always get irrationally annoyed when folk compare games/media the wrong way round. ER is like DS3 as it follows DS3. So any real critique should reflect the history. If ER was his first ‘from’ game then DS3 will feel very different as ER is much more user friendly. As it learns from all the previous iterations.
he also said the character in elden ring was un responsive maybe he is just bad at video games and just thought of this he is playing the knight of course it is sluggish he wearing heavy armor what does he expect it to be like wearing thin cloth
I swear this guy is tape recorder because he saying the same lines over and over again. You should make a drinking game everytime he says lacking in laster.
Reminds me of the guy that said Dark Souls is the only good game they've made since 2011, and put Elden Ring in the 'bad physics category' and didn't put DS3 in that category, but they run in the same engine.
I don't buy that he's actually played ds3 because if he's beat Elden ring 3 times each on a higher ng cycle then should have had no problem beating gundyr
Not if he cheesed his way through the whole game, which DS3 has much less of. Regardless of your build it takes far more skill in general to get past pretty much every boss. I think he's just bad and was carried by a mimic tear or something personally.
12:14 Ain’t no way you said the Fume Knight runback was bad. The bonfire is literally thirty seconds away from the fog wall. Did you miss it or something?
The Crystal Lizard isn't even a boss, it's a regular enemy, which gives you upgrade materials upon defeat, And to be clear, the message before you enter that "canyon" says "TURN BACK", cause it has more health then the actual boss you progress to, Gundyr. And if the guy says the "60 sec walk" to the Lizard is frustrating, DON'T SHOW HIM DARK SOULS II PLEASE

Controversial take: I actually don't mind longer boss runs. Not super long ones like ds2. But I don't mind having a bit of a jog to have cool off time between attempts. 30-60secs is not really that bad to my mind
I’m playing elden ring to get ready for its DLC and I think ER has become my GOAT video game surpassing Bloodborne and the Witcher 3. 250 hours into ER and every time I pick up the controller, I appreciate it more and more. Edit: I agree DS3 has the best bosses ever. I replayed all From games after ER and Sekiro is still second when it comes to best bosses ever to DS3
I do think in art style, ds3 isnt as great. Less color and contrast as opposed to games like ds1, ds2 and bloodborne. However its still my second favorite souls game
1:50 kind of a weird comment, since there's no powerstancing, your L2 is replaced by ashes of war allowing for way more weapon customization, jump attacking is one of the most degenerate and powerful thing that ds3 doesn't allow (Do not consider sprint jump attacks in the same category) 2:45 lacking in luster is likely the reviewer not being familiar with GrimDark aesthetics, and has nothing to do with texture fidelity. 9:15 This confirms the part above^ 10:30 Input lag, 30fps, and buffered moves you can't cancel. I bet he attacked Vare at the start of Limgrave. 11:50 I also want to see him play Demon souls if that short runback bothers him. 12:45 copy paste is wild. I want to see him critique any other game that has similar mechanics, like CoD, Super Mario, Zelda, any long running series with close to identical mechanics.. 11:30 thank you for the mario kart/mario bros/cod/DMC comment xD we thought the same thing. IF you watch his "DO NOT BUY Dark Souls Remastered on Switch" it has the exact same lacking in luster script, and so I think he is ragebaiting to some extent.
