I would love to see it when it is restored. Thank goodness for the Lynnewood Hall Preservation Foundation for purchasing this masterpiece and saving it.
Congratulations and THANK YOU for laying the foundation that will see this architectural masterpiece preserved and used as a cultural focal point on into the future.
Good luck!!! I grew up on Stotesbury Rd in the 1970s and watched the decline and destruction of Whitemarsh Hall. I wish someone had saved that mansion. I'm glad you were able to purchase it and wish you much success on the restoration and resurrection to come.
Any more you could share about White Marsh Hall? I'd be very interested in hearing your memories A friend is connected to the family. I'm always trying to persuade him to go back and dig up the bowling alley, which I understand was covered over intact, lol
I drove past this multiple times with my boyfriend at the time. I always wondered history and wanted in my head to buy (obviously couldn't afford). I'm so happy to see this..... awaiting great news!
I have driven by this beauty for at least 20 years and was always saddened by the neglect. To know now that it might reach its fullest potential is heartwarming. I have been to Spain Italy & France and can easily state that this property, if preserved to its fullest potential, will be an international draw and success story. I can't wait to possibly see it in its glory, but more so, add it to my memory bank.
Thank you for your efforts! This is such an incredible project and the progress in the past few years alone is remarkable. So excited to visit at some point in the future.
So awesome!. I am so happy everything has come together to do this preservation! I discovered Lynnewood Hall through TH-cam's abandoned buildings explorers. Among whom, I think the channel BrosofDecay treated you with the highest respect- great hour-long documentary. Albeit wrong for trespassing, these explorers have given extraordinary worldwide coverage to this fascinating and architecturally significant home. I just saw your talk from 3 months ago at the Notre Dame School of Architecture last nite. I hung on your every word and feasted on every picture. I myself studied at the University of Michigan School of Art and Architecture. I hope that I can one day visit this grand home and tour it's beautiful gardens. Again, congratulations to your benefactor for so generously funding this project and to you both, forgive me I can't remember your names, for helming this incredible restoration. You sir, are like me, vast and extensive knowledge of your subject. It makes me want to move there and start getting my hands dirty! So excited!!!. ❣️👏👏👏😁
@@olgaknowsbestofficial wow!. Such volatile negativity!. Holly Golightly and Pippy Longstocking you are Not!. I am choosing to rise above your negativity and continue to congratulate the team at Lynnwood Hall Preservation Society !. They are doing noble work.
Will be visiting this place when the renovations are finished, maybe in 2026, 2027. We`ll see. Hopefully the sale of the estate took place during June, without any problems. Eventually we`ll get some more information. Fingers crossed.
I just came across this video. And I'm pleasantly surprised, but skeptical. Because so many projects like this have fallen apart because of finances and management. I really hope this is fully vetted and this massive project will get world class artists, stone masons ,preservationists to work on this. I came across Lynwood Hall over 10years ago from a video an urban explorer. I was entranced and floored by this property. And I could only dream of someone saving this building from its inevitable decay. It was incredibly sad and I hoped someone out there would somehow save it. I fantasized of saving it myself. As I love the Edwardian era and it's architecture. Craftsmanship like this needs to be saved. There is a similar mansion here in New Jersey, called Arlington Mansion, in Mahwah ,N.J It was restored just a few years back , for what is said to be $40 million. It is magnificent. I hope that no matter how many years it takes that the public will be able to enjoy and care about preservation. We need to stop destroying homes and historic buildings. It is our country's history! Who ever set up this foundation ,thank you, I will check out your website and fully support this project!
This is a wonderful project! I saw this mansion on an urban explorer channel and fell in love, even in the state it is in! I wish you the best and hope to see it in person one day!
I hate how most of the money was made that led to the creation of most of these mansions. But I feel preserving these great places is important. First, the artistry and creativity of the workers that created these places must be preserved for posterity and it would be a same to let the beauty of such places dissaper. Sounds like they have a good plane on how to use the space.
Wdym "how most of the money was made?" Mr Widener became wealthy by selling meats to the Union Army and, later, by investing in the transportation systems and newspaper companies of Philadelphia
A few years ago it was only the Urbex kids who were fascinated with this place. It's such a surprise the old pile is being restored. I wonder if they could ever get the dining room and tapestry? room with the Louis XIV paneling back? They could be in that area?
@@FrancesOlson-rh9kg- I know it was sold off when the second owner - the god and country guy - had it. It would be helpful to the restoration team to be able to at least track them down and refer to the originals. But, I suppose, unless they learn how to carve expertly it won't do them much good? I think the first floor rooms are the only rooms with very expensive materials. Most of the second floor rooms seemed to be molded plaster. I don't think most of the bedrooms or corridors have wood panelled walls.
I think that was in their video message. It is their hope they will bring certain University students in Architecture, horticulture, Art and design into the Mansion to work in a program, as well as trades people to work like under an apprentice program. It will be an effective way to help restore the mansion in the most cost effective way.
It's insane people can spend millions on a place and just let it go like it's some shack. The money put into a place like this could have lifted hundreds out of poverty. But also I love things like this being saved so that it doesn't go to waste
HOW I WISH I had a time machine and could go 20 years into the future to see yes, this standalone masterpiece would be completely restored!! What an absolutely mind boggling dream that would be‼️❤️
I'm late to this but if I remember correctly, either the Architect who owned it, or the man who had it built, were inspired by Versailles, hince why it's refered to as such. It's not that it looks like Versailles, it's that they "wanted their own" Versailles
@MohammedHassan-ht3hz a non-profit organization has taken ownership of the house and property. A non-profit organization doesn't have to pay taxes because it functions for the publics benefit.

I am so very excited! Biltmore Estate and Lynnwood Hall are my favorites! Congratulations!
Can't wait to visit with my family!
Really rooting for the project. Been following this property for 10 years…
Congratulation! The preservation foundation has always been a vision for those who love this beautiful home.
My great grandfather worked at Lynnewood Hall circa 1917 as a "Horseman".🙂
Wow! Cool ❤
That’s so cool!
Oh!!. Awesome!. If you know of any stories, you should write them down in the comments!!. We all would luv to hear!.

Thank you for preserving this incredible place!
So glad this is being preserved!
I look forward to seeing this masterpiece in person! Amazing work team!! Keep grinding!!
All skill/ trade TH-camrs should be invited to the property to create content and contribute to the preservation.❤

It was such a shame that Whitemarsh was demolished. It could have been a national landmark.
I agree! But for some reason, Stotesbury didn't seem to care about what happened to it after he died. @@ferraridan4883

You should try to get some specialized university students involved when you have funding for things to assist with restoration

wonder how many babies were eaten there
Would love to get a private tour f this place for a video. Wonder how much it would cost to get a tour?
Check their website. They are currently offering hard hat tours. Very costly, but a great cause.
create any way to draw visitors to this site as soon as possible!
I wonder what the original cost was when built? Not by today's dollars, but original dollars and its value then.
Good luck with this very important restoration you are attempting. I sincerely hope ot works. This place should not be sitting here rotting over time

I was worried it was never going to happen.
So eloquently narrated. Read an article which piqued my interest. May its history live on.
Good luck 🏗🏗🏛
Why does everyone liken every mansion to Versailles? This mansion looks nothing like Versailles.
Add to that - the narration sounds like every luxury car sales event.
It is similar in size and to scope to Versailles, hypothetically...

How they will pay tax???
It's tax exempt. It won't be paying any taxes.
@@kevinchambers1101 as its public building . That's why?? I believe previous owner fought for tax exempt as church and government didn',t give exempt
