I have mine to do camping at/near bike trails or bike parks. I did the same but used gorilla tape for the black out. I really don’t care about people seeing the reflective side. As that keeps the most heat out. And the black side makes it’s like true back out shades. I lifted mine but have to do some other things to fixed the subframe squeaks. But I still love my car. Have other plans too like TSX swap and the 6 speed but have to find a good motor. Like the video.
Nice job josh! That’s exactly how I did mine. I managed to do the back window too though, but that third brake light curve was a pain in the hiney. I just smash mine in there and they stay pretty good. My first one looked terrible and is all taped and patched together too. I never take my moonroof out because it was leaking before..so I’m jealous watching you climb out the top like that. Looks good. keep it up cause I’ll keep watching.👍🏻👍🏻🙂
I used the same.setup on my Elements windows...it was so easy. I'm trying to figure a way to use tent meshing to make screens for the windows...any ideas? Also, what mattress foam did you use?
I saw something from a company that makes a screen that goes over the whole window that black it out. I can’t remember the brand though. The foam it just a twin mattress I pickup on amazon. I think there’s a link the the description
Hey man are you happy with the moonroof and all wheel drive compared to the front wheel drive model without the moonroof? I am not sure which one to go with, I really like the sunroof, because I think it might be nice to have that extra ventilation if I am camping somewhere really hot, but I think it might be a nuisance to have that extra big piece To take down and put up when not in use. I also am curious if the sunroof makes the vehicle a lot hotter. Have you made one for the sunroof yet? I would imagine it’s not too difficult to Velcro it to the glass, most people just latch it into place by clamping down on the shade.
how do you hang any blanket from the rear window..? i don't get it. i have an element. there's not hanging possible. how did you do this blanket cover on rear window ...???!!
Possibly. I would think the paint might chip off when the panels fold. I went with the black tap because I was given a bunch of it. If it wasn't for that it would have not been cheap.
Hey Josh, thanks for the video! I'm about to do the same to my element however I've been going back and forth on the idea of covering the side that faces the window with either black cloth or black spray paint. I'm wondering if the coverings have still been super effective in blocking out the heat and cold with the black tape you used? The color black generally absorbs heat and I'm worried that if I turn it black it won't work as well? Any advice/thoughts? Thanks so much! :)
I honestly haven’t used it in warm weather. I use the element as a camper every winter and it works really good. I’ve been camping in 0 degree weather and stayed pretty warm.
I sleep in mines during the weekdays since my commute is too long and the E isn’t exactly a Civic when it comes to mpg. I just meed to make myself a proper bed like yours. I still haven’t gotten around to it. I just rolled a sleeping pad on the floor 😌
Thanks for the video! I'm going to make window coverings for my Element for full time Element VanLife...at least for a little while. Cheers!
Hola, el quemacoco tiene cortina para cubrir del sol cuándo está muy fuerte? Gracias
Great job on the shades.
Any ideas for the moon roof? Does the element come with a slide shade?
Line reflectix w/ sticky back shelf liner. Blk paint eventually drys & flakes off. Big mess
wait... the sunroof comes out?????
Black felt on one side of the Reflectix would work & cut just a bit larger.

Black spray paint instead of tape.
Enjoying the Element hacks Josh. Nice work. Hope you have a great week! Thank you.👍🏼🤘🏼😎
That’s how I did my window covers! After that I traced the one I made to make the other side. About the sun shade. I bought mine at the dollar store.
Oh great idea. I'll get that
I think we better watch this guy we might have another Bill Cosby on our hands

I love that smoon roof. Lucky no leaks that I know of. Let's face it. The honda element is the best car ever
This idea is so dope!
Jealous of the sunroof btw.
Hi Josh. I am a new Sub and a fellow Honda Element owner. Nice job on the window covers. I am going to try this. Cheers!
Welcome to the channel. It was surprisingly easy to do. Have fun

I brought self adhesive hooks. The kind with the pull away backs. It works pretty good
@@BuzzardsRoostWoodcraft OH! Okay...sheesh...thought you had some custom back window or something. Self adhesive hooks ... check !
What type of black take did you use?
Thanks for the tutorial. Would that type of material take spray paint? Was wondering if that might be a good cheap route to go.

How did you open the moon roof like that.
It has a release that lets it come all the way out. Two red buttons on the handle

@@BuzzardsRoostWoodcraft My guess is that when its hot out the sticky of the velcro will slide off the window...Did it?
@@SLove-ue6uf not at all. Been on there almost 2 years now
