AustrianAdrian Wholly agreed. I like her a whole damn lot, but at least half the roles she's done were never really right for her and we all know picking the wrong rep is half her problem. Granted, this role specifically is a weird one lying in some lower parts yet needing to go into the stratosphere and oh, let's do some coloratura also. She's never been great with coloratura, that's for sure, but her richer voice was still never meant for bel canto and certain Mozart roles. However there's ONE role I'm shocked she hasn't done and hardly anyone has suggested she do. Nedda is Pagliacci. She needs needs, NEEDS to do this one, she's literally perfect in every way, and her Stridono Lassu would SLAY. She'd just slay this whole role, honestly. I still wonder why she hasn't done it. She's a lirico spinto and the true heavier verismo stuff is what she should have been, and still should be, doing all along.

After the initial phrase "coppia iniqua" which she mispronounces as "copia" I can't understand a single word. Is the libretto so bad that this is what you call perfection?
So far no one can sing Anna Bolena like Maria Callas. Thank God for the live recording of her stage performance at La Scala in 1957. That was the "re-birth" of this opera as well as its sudden death.
Maybe you mean she lives in her legacy but actually she left this world 16 September 1977. She will always live in our hearts but physically she's here no more.
I was there at the dress rehearsal. She did her best. Really. But really the technique is miles away from 19th C belcanto. For some darn reason Anna just can't straight jacket herself into her vowels and tones. She gets too high too quickly and the voice spreads on A natural and Bb. Her legato is never really taught either. Sometimes it is lovely other times hollow and breathy with no focus especially in the lower register. And the top gets so spread even though it is so obvious there is plenty more notes past high C in her voice. A gorgeous sound here and there but I still can't help to think that she rose too quickly to really reach the level of self control needed in this rep. In Puccini it does not show. Here and there in Verdi. But Mozart and Belcanto yikes.
This is not her rep, no matter who is blowing smoke up her skirt to encourage her to sing it. She was so wonderful in stuff like Manon, and she is lovely in Eugene Onegin. Why is it that singers always want to try to sing heavier music than their voices can bear. You who did not? Alfredo Kraus. As a result he could sing until the day he died, with a high C as secure and technically perfect at the end as he had when he was younger (with a touch of age on the color). I love Netrebko and I cannot bear to hear her destroy his voice this way.
Apparently she has just decided she doesn't need to watch her weight? I don't know. Maybe, since she has decided that her voice got bigger due to her pregnancy (or some such nonsense) that she needs to maintain the baby weight? Whatever the reason, the weight is doing her no favors, either in her voice or her looks. I miss thin Anna and I miss Anna singing the correct rep. Her voice is so beautiful and used to be velvety. Now it's just shrill and not well supported.
@@sopranosd It shows how casual and lazy it gets, why watch weight if you can get rated high and with a fat purse.... she has been dominating Met for almost 20 years. Enough is enough!!!

@@xxsaruman82xx87 Diana has the same expression as a stone
Tomba 2 ciao.
@@fabriziomariagarzi5534 to sei spiegato perfettamente.
Hahaha this is hilarious, awful and horrendous. She has no techniques to sing bel canto .
Callas’ is as bad she’s way past her prime in 1957
Are you high?
Molto male!
Netrebko THE WORST

I never will understand the hype around extremely overrated netrebko
